"Stop bothering me, Ezra. I left because I wanted to be alone. Could you do me a favor and just f*cking leave me alone!" I shouted at my brother who's talking to me on the phone. I ended the call before he was able to reply back and just continued drinking the beverage I ordered.

"You alright?" someone asked from my side. I looked at him and I just rolled my eyes. "You do know that everyone who comes here at this time of the year is usually smiling, right?" he said, moving closer.

"You also do know that you shouldn't be bothering people who just yelled at someone on the phone because you might get yelled too, right?" I said, copying the tone of his voice.

He chuckled. "I'm Tannon. What's your name?"

"The Grinch. Nice to meet you, " I sarcastically said but he just laughed.

"I love your Christmas spirit, Grinch. It's very amusing, " he said and I scoffed.

"I swear to God, dude, if you don't leave, I'd have to make you leave, " I said and he doesn't seem startled by what I have said.

"And how are you supposed to do that?" he asked, standing up.

"How about kicking you where the sun doesn't shine?" I said, standing up as well.

"Well, I wouldn't do that if I were you, " he said and I raised my eyebrow. He moved his face closer to mine and whispered, "Because someday, it would be of good use to you."

"SH*T!" I shouted when I opened my eyes and saw that I'm in an unfamiliar room.

"Is that how you always wake up, Grinch?" Tannon said. I didn't mind him and quickly stood up and changed into my clothes from the night before.

"What the f*ck happened last night? How did I end up here?"

"Last time I checked, you weren't too drunk to not have a recollection of events that happened last night, " he said and I placed my hands in my mouth when I remembered what happened last night.

"Well, I wouldn't do that if I were you, " he said and I raised my eyebrow. He moved his face closer to mine and whispered, "Because someday, it would be of good use to you."

We stared at each other for a bit, his face was so close to mine but I didn't mind. I was studying every part of his face until my eyes stopped on his lips. I don't know why I felt a sudden urge to capture his lips and before I can contemplate on anything, I crashed my lips on his and he was kissing me with the same pace and intensity as mine.

"I did not kiss you!"

"Yeah, keep telling yourself that, " he said before standing up. "What do you want for breakfast? And I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name."

"Seriously?! Do you always have sex with a girl before even knowing their name?"

"It's called a one night stand and yes, but you're lucky because I don't usually ask for their names and I don't offer them breakfast."

"So I should be thankful that you offered me breakfast and asked me for my name?" I scoffed.

"Yeah, you should be very grateful, " he said before walking away. I took a deep breath before grabbing my purse and walking out of the bedroom.

I was instantly greeted by his cozy living room. I admired it for a bit before walking to his front door.

"You seriously don't want to eat something before you go?" he asked, getting out of the kitchen.

"It's a one night stand. You don't owe me anything and I don't owe you anything, " I said while opening the door.

"Tell me your name at least."

I chuckled. "It's Eira," I said before getting out of his front door.

I just shook my head and booked a ride going to the cottage I'm staying in.

"Was he good?" My best friend, Ginger asked after I told her what happened to me and the guy I don't want to speak or think about starting now. Ginger lives here because she got tired of all the noise in the city and she just wanted to live in a peaceful place.

"You're seriously asking me that question right now?" I said in disbelief.

"Well, I mean you were pretty sober when you guys did it so uhmm..."

"I know! I don't know what came over me!" I said, placing both of my hands on my face. Ginger just laughed.

"It's natural, I guess. I mean it's been a long time since you have done it and I know you're almost on your period. You know wha–"

"F*CK!" I said, cutting her off.

"What?" she asked, looking at me like I have lost my mind.

"I forgot to ask him if he used protection," I said, covering my mouth.

"Oh, sh*t! What will you do now?"

"I don't kno–"

"Ginger! Come and get your sh*t!" someone yelled from the kitchen door. Ginger shook her head and walked to the kitchen.

"I told you not to use this door, " she said before fully entering her kitchen. I sighed before following her. I walked into her kitchen and there I saw the person I never want to see again.

"What are you doing here?!" I asked, not caring if my voice echoed in the whole house.

"Oh, hi, Grinch. Nice seeing you again, " he said, smirking.

"You know each other?" Ginger asked and he laughed.

"Want to tell her what happened last night?" he asked and I glared at him.

"OMG! Is that him? You have got to be kidding me!" Ginger exclaimed. "Hey, Tan! You used protection, right? Tell me you did!"

"Uhmm... well..."

"Sh*t!" I cussed.

"Don't worry, Grinch. You'd be lucky if you are carrying my child, " he said and I looked at him in disbelief.

"You a*shole! I don't want to get pregnant yet! Don't you know tha–" I wasn't able to finish what I was saying because he laughed so hard.

"I'm just messing with you. Of course, I used protection. What do you take me for?" he said and I crossed my arms. I glared at him before stepping on his foot and walking away. I can hear his cry of pain in the living room but I didn't care.

I don't know why I'm so annoyed by his presence. Probably because it's getting hard for me to accept that I'm the one who made the first move and not him.

After a while, I heard the door shut and Ginger walked in the living room holding a jar full of cookies.

"Can you tell me how on earth do you know him?" I asked her when she sat down.

"He was the reason why I sprained my ankle and for that, he has been running errands for me until my ankle is all okay."

"But you're okay now."

"Yeah, but I got used to him doing things for me. He complains lots of times but blackmail is the key, " she said and I laughed. "I forgot to tell you. You have to check out of the hotel you're staying in."

"Why?"

"I'm leaving tomorrow and I need someone to watch over the house while I'm away."

"Where are you going?"

"Home but it'll be for like a month then I'll be back after New Year and it looks like you won't be back home for a very long time."

"Alright, alright. I'll watch it for you."

"Yey!" she hugged me. "You're the bestest friend ever."

"I know. Now, where will you take me?" I asked and she seemed confused. "It's Christmas day, G. You promised to treat me somewhere last year, right?" I said and her eyes widened. She probably remembered that she promised to take me to the best restaurants here because she wasn't able to come home last year.

"Let's go, " I said, standing up and walking to her yard. I skipped and laughed while she followed me still with a regretful face.

26th of December and yes, I am now staying in Ginger's house. I am currently cleaning because Ginger is not the tidiest person in the world and her house looks like a thousand kids just wrecked it.

I was busy tidying up the place when I heard the kitchen door click. I picked up the mop I was using and was about to whack the person until I saw who the person was.

"Tannon, what are you doing here?"

"Ah, so the Grinch remembered my name. How touching, " he placed his hand in his chest.

"Why are you here?" I said, placing both my hands on my waist.

"It's the day after Christmas. Lighten up a little, " he said and I raised my eyebrow. "Ginger asked me to guard her house and now, I'm here."

"But she asked me to gua–" I wasn't able to finish what I was saying because I realized what Ginger was trying to do. "She's playing matchmaker."

"Okay, cool, " he said before walking to the living room. I scoffed before following him to the living room. My eyes widened when I saw him throw his bag and shoes somewhere and settling on the couch.

"You pick your sh*t up! I have been cleaning for the whole day and you just barge in here, ruining it!" I said and he looked around.

"It does look clean. For a rich girl, you tidy up nice, " he said, standing up and picking up his bag and shoes.

"I am not a rich girl."

"Yeah, says the person who owns one of the most expensive cars in the world and is parked on Ginger's yard, " he said before shaking his head and climbing up the stairs.

I breathe in and out before mopping the floor once again.

Ginger, you are so dead!

"Unbelievable, " I scoffed after seeing him lying on the bed in the guest room.

"What?"

"I'm sleeping there. You sleep in the couch, " I said but instead of listening, he stretched his whole body on the bed. 

"Why don't you sleep in Ginger's bedroom instead?" he said and I rolled my eyes.

"Her room is locked. I can't find the key for it, " I crossed my arms.

He sighed. "Why don't you just..." he said, standing up. "Share the bed with me, " he said, embracing me and pulling me to bed.

"Get off of me! Tannon!"

He cuddled me closer. "Stop squirming."

"We look ridiculous, " I said before I heard him snore. I looked at his face and I saw how angelic he looked while napping.

I just chuckled before closing my eyes and falling asleep too.

The bright glare of the sun woke me up from my slumber. I was about to stand when I felt strong arms pull me down. I looked to my left and I saw Tannon still asleep. I tried taking his leg off mine but he was too strong.

"Hey, I really need to get out of bed so can you–" I wasn't able to finish what I was saying because he carried me and placed me on top of his chest.

"You just stay here for a bit, " he said and I sighed. "You know, Grinch. I think out of all the girls I've met you're the only one who's brave enough to give me attitude, " he said and I laughed a little. "It's alright though. I like a little challenge."

I just shook my head and buried my face in his chest. I don't know if it's because he's still half asleep but he looked cute. Really, really cute.

"Hey, Grinch! I know how we can welcome 2020," Tannon said, smiling. It's been five days since we've been watching Ginger's house and we have grown close as the days go by and yes, we still share the same bed, but we haven't done anything stupid if that's what you're thinking.

"How?"

"Let's go to an amusement park!" he exclaimed.

"What are you? Five?"

"Don't be such a stick in the mud! It'll be fun and the fireworks at night will be awesome!"

"Okay, little boy. Let's go, " I said and he clapped before running up the stairs. I just shook my head and followed him.

"This is the greatest spot to see the fireworks, " he said when we stopped by a spot overlooking the whole theme park.

"It's beautiful, but it's still early. The fireworks display is in an hour."

"People gather here when it's like thirty minutes before the show and we won't get to see it clearly so it's better to come here early, " he said and I just nodded.

I glanced at the rides below us and all of them looked so beautiful. People looked so lively and the different colored lights highlighted all of their smiles even more.

"Can I ask you something?" he said, giving me a small nudge.

"Okay."

"Why were you down when I first met you?"

"Well... it's because of my family."

"What happened?"

"They tore me and my boyfriend apart just so I would give in to their wishes of marrying some son of a rich family for the partnership of our companies, " I narrated.

"So you ran away?"

"Yep. I don't know how else to face it. I don't want to get married and my heart is still broken from my boyfriend who didn't fight for me."

He held on to my hand. "He's a d*ck, " he said and I laughed. "What? He really is."

"I know. That's why I'm laughing because you got that right, " I said and he laughed as well. "Anyways, how 'bout you? If you were my boyfriend and you were put in that situation, what will you do?"

"I'll probably ask you to run away with me and we'll live happily ever after elsewhere, " he said and I don't know why but my heart skipped a beat.

"You'll do that?"

"Of course, because I love you. I don't care if the universe is against us because I only want to be with you and only you, " he said, looking directly to my eyes and as if on cue, we heard the fireworks lighting up the night sky, but we forgot about the fireworks display and just looked at each other intently and before I knew it, he crashed his lips onto mine. I just closed my eyes and felt the moment. As if like magic, everyone disappeared and it was only him and me, enjoying the fireworks display while sharing a sweet kiss.

"What do you want to do today?" I asked Tannon who is currently holding me as if I was a stuffed bear.

Today is January 2nd. We had the greatest day yesterday. After the beautiful fireworks display at the theme park, we went to numerous places until we were so tired that we have no choice but to go back to Ginger's house.

"I just want to stay here with you, " he said before he kissed the top of my head.

I sighed. "Is it weird if I tell you that I want to stay with you here forever?"

"Forever is such a long time, Grinch. Are you sure of that? Won't you miss your family? And we've only known each other for two weeks. Can you really live with a complete stranger forever?" he asked and I shrugged.

"All my life, I've been used to planning everything. I am always ten steps ahead of everyone, but they still end up ruining what I have devised. This is the first time I have said and done something I didn't think of. Sleeping with a complete stranger and take note that I did not check if he was using protection or not, " I said and he laughed. "Now, telling a guy I want to be with him forever even if I don't know his surname or family background. I am living on the edge and I'm loving every part of it. I can't really answer all of your questions right now but all I know is, this has been the happiest I've been in years and I don't want it to change."

He held on to me tight. "You know what, you're right. For now, I won't care. We'll do whatever we think is right at the moment and just cross bridges once we get there, " he said before giving me a kiss on my forehead. I smiled at him and held him closer before I found my self falling into a deep and comfortable slumber.

"Hello?" I said when I answered my phone. I didn't check on the caller ID because my phone is bothering me and I am trying to sleep in.

"Eira, " a familiar voice said on the other line. I quickly looked at the caller ID and there flashed my brother's name.

"Bye!" I said before hanging up. I sat down and looked around. It looks neat and that got me confused. "Tannon?" I called but no one responded. I looked around and my eyes settled on the paper that was on the nightstand. I quickly picked it up and read it.

Good morning, Grinch! I hope you had enough sleep. Sorry if you woke up without me beside you. Grinch, I know it's too early, but I just wanna say that I love you and no, not as a friend or sh*t like that. I really love you. I love you so, so much.

I quickly stood up after reading. I ran to the kitchen, hoping he's there just making me breakfast. "Tannon?" He wasn't there unfortunately.

I held tightly onto his note and I sat on the table. After a few minutes, I heard knocks on the door. I stood up and ran, only to be faced with the person I don't want to see as of the moment.

"Lil' sis, " he greeted but I didn't mind him. I just ran to my car and got in it. I saw him, trying to open the car door but I locked it then I drove off.

It didn't take long for me to reach Tannon's house. After parking my car, I raced to his front door and knocked on it. "Tannon? Please answer the door! Tannon!"

"Eira, please go home. You're not gonna get married anymore. We canceled the arrangement with the Beckers, " Ezra said but I paid him no attention.

"Tannon, come out, please!" I said, still knocking.

"Hey, Eira. Stop causing a scene. Let's go home."

"No! I don't want to go home! I want to stay right here and be with Tannon because I-I love h-him, " I said, trying to stop the tears that are forming in my eyes. Ezra walked closer to me and hugged me and there I sobbed.

"Everything will be alright, Eira, " he said, caressing my hair.

"He left without saying goodbye, " I said and he just hugged me tighter.

In that moment, I knew. The note he left me wasn't a confession of love, it is a farewell note and him saying that this is where our love story ends.

2 years later...

Good morning, Grinch! I hope you had enough sleep. Sorry if you woke up without me beside you. Grinch, I know it's too early, but I just wanna say that I love you and no, not as a friend or sh*t like that. I really love you. I love you so, so much.

"Liar, " I said as I read through Tannon's note again. It's been two years since Ezra took me home. It had been an emotional journey and up to this day, I still think of him. I don't know why I can't move on from him easily. We've only been together for two weeks, I should be able to forget him effortlessly, but I just can't.

"You're missing him again, Lil' sis, " someone said from behind. I looked at the door of my room and I saw Ezra leaning on the door. "We can still find him if you want."

"I'm pretty sure a person who ran away doesn't want to be found, " I sighed.

"I don't know what he fed you, but it's been two years and he's not even your boyfriend."

"That's the problem, Big Bro!"

"Anyway, stop moping and change into something presentable. Don't forget, we'll be meeting the Beckers and Blackwoods today to discuss the new project we're about to launch. We'll also get an invite for the Blackwood-Becker nuptials that is a month away."

"Still can't believe Ginger is getting married to the man I was supposed to marry two years ago. She loves him though so I think that's more important than anything."

"We're really sorry for deciding on your future."

"It's fine. I already forgave you, mom, and dad for doing that and all is well now."

"Thank you and go change now."

I laughed. "Yes, sir, " I said while saluting. After I watch him leave my bedroom, I stood up, walked to my closet, and chose the simplest but decent dress that I have.

"You could've chosen a better dress, " my mom said while fixing the pleets of my dress.

"Ezra said change into something decent. This is decent, just simple, " I shrugged.

"Too simple but, of course, my little peach still looks good in anything she wears, " my dad said and I smiled at him.

"Fix your posture and smile. They're here, " my mom whispered and I just rolled my eyes.

They did all the pleasantries and I just stood there and smiled. "This is my daughter, Eira and of course, you know Ezra, " my dad said while pointing to me and Ezra.

"Ah, yes. The heir to the Addington Corporation, " Mr. Becker said. After all of the greetings and sh*t like that, we sat on a very long table.

"Where's your son?" my dad asked Mr. Becker.

"He went to pick up my future daughter-in-law and her family, " Mr. Becker said and my dad just nodded. It wasn't long before they have arrived at the venue. First came in was Ginger's parents and her siblings. Then, in came Ginger and his fiance which took me by surprise.

"Of course you know my son, Tannon Becker, the heir to the Becker group of companies, " Mr. Becker said and I wasn't able to move or even breathe after that. Tannon also looked as shocked as I am while Ginger, on the other hand is smiling at me and she mouthed, "He's the one I kept telling you about."

"F*ck, " I said to myself while I'm staring at myself in the restroom mirror. "He's a Becker for f*ck's sake! We almost got married! This is so f*cking twisted!" I breathe in and out.

"You can do this, Eira. This is for your best friend, okay?" I told myself before walking out of the restroom. I had my eyes closed and I was praying that they just left or whatever.

While walking, I didn't notice the other person walking towards me so I ended up bumping on his chest and I almost fell but lucky for me, he caught me.

"You should really be careful of where you're going, " the person said. I quickly got out of his grasp and I fixed my dress.

"Mr. Tannon Becker, " I said, not looking at his eyes.

He laughed. "Stop with the formalities, Ms. Eira Addington."

"Hey, Tan, they're looking for you. Let's go?" Ginger said when he approached Tannon. "OMG! E, Tannon is the guy I'm telling you about! The one I got engaged to. I told you, you know him!" Ginger chirped.

"I'm so happy for you, G. Your dream Christmas wedding finally a reality, " I said.

"I know, right? Anyway, they're looking for us. Let's go, " she said before holding into Tannon's hand and walking away. I just shook my head and followed along.

"You didn't tell me his name was Tannon!" I said while shaking Ezra's arm.

"I didn't even know that he was your Christmas fling, " he said and I groaned.

"Mr. Addington, Mr. Tannon Becker is here for an appointment. Should I send him in?" Ezra's secretary said.

"F*ck!" I cussed and Ezra laughed.

"Yes, send him in, " he said and my eyes widened.

"I'm leaving, " I said, standing up.

"You stay, " Ezra said and I had no choice but to sit still. "Mr. Becker, good morning, " Ezra greeted him and I cringed.

Tannon laughed. "You could call me Tannon or Tan, Ezra. Can I call you Ezra?"

"It's no problem, " Ezra said. "Oh and you know my sister, Eira."

"Good morning, " I greeted and he nodded before sitting down. They talked for a while and I just went through my phone while I felt the air getting thinner and it's getting harder to breathe.

They talked for about two hours before Tannon got up and left. "You can breathe now, " Ezra said and I glared at him. "He probably can tell that you're still in love with him."

"Why?"

"Because you look as red as a tomato right now, " he laughed and I quickly brought out a mirror. I do look a bit red. I screamed and he laughed harder which made me throw pillows at him.

"And I never knew I would grow to love Amsterdam though. It's just so beautiful like I can't even, " Ginger said. She's been telling me about the places she toured for the past two years. We are now having coffee at the cafe near the university where we finished college.

"Aww... I wish I can get to travel too."

"Don't worry, E. I can take you to those places if you want."

"Won't you be busy? I mean you'll be having you're own family now."

"I'll still have time for you though. We promised each other not to forget each other because we're already like sisters, " she said and I felt touched.

"Uhmm... G?"

"Yes?"

"When did you find out Tannon was a Becker?"

"Oh... Two years ago. I forgot if it was March or April. It was supposed to be an arranged marriage. To strengthen the partnership between my family and the Beckers. I was against it at first but when I found out who I'll be marrying, I was fine with it, " she shrugged. "And I never told you this but I had the biggest crush on Tannon which is why I felt like we were destined for each other when he was the one I was about to say my I do's with."

"Is that also the reason why even though you were okay, you still asked him for favors?" I asked and she blushed before nodding. "But can I ask you something, G?"

"Of course."

"Don't you find it weird that something happened between him and me before?"

"I just don't think about it. It still feels a bit weird sometimes but I know it was just a one night stand. I've had my fair shares of one night stands too and it was nothing serious, " she answered and I nodded.

"Last question, " I said and she giggled.

"Why did you want for the two of us to watch you house?" I asked and her eyebrows furrowed.

"I didn't ask Tannon to watch it for me, I only asked you, " she said and my eyes widened. "Something wrong?"

"No, nothing, " I said before taking a sip on my coffee.

After that, she ended up showing me pictures of him and Tannon and the places they've been in. She also told me that they've been traveling for two years because they wanted to get to know each other more before they get married.

24th of December. Christmas Eve and yes, Ginger and Tannon's wedding is tomorrow. Another yes, it's been exactly two years since Tannon and I first met.

They're having a Christmas Eve party downstairs. All of our relatives are right here but I wasn't in the mood to meddle with them. I told my mom and dad that I'm not feeling well so I asked them if I could just stay in my room and they agreed. I am now in my balcony, finding hotels in Italy because I am planning to spend my New Year there.

"Italy, huh? You'll love it there, " someone said from behind. I quickly looked at who said that and I saw Tannon standing behind me.

"How did you get in here?!"

I'm pretty sure I locked the door.

"I climbed up your balcony. You were too busy scrolling through your computer which is why you haven't noticed."

"Oh. Uhmm... what are you doing here?"

"I need to do something and I can't do it without you, " he said and I raised my eyebrow.

"What is it?"

"This, " he said before he slammed his lips onto mine. I tried pushing him away but he held onto me so tightly that it was impossible to get out of his grasp. It didn't take long before I succumbed to his addicting kiss.

"This seems oddly familiar, " he said and I chuckled.

"We've done something really stupid again, huh?"

"I guess so."

"I can't believe I did this to Ginger. I'm such a bad friend, " I whined and he rubbed my arms gently.

"This'll be our little secret, " he said before kissing the top of my head.

"Can I ask you something?"

"Okay."

"Why did you lie? Ginger never asked you to watch her house for her but why did you tell me she did?"

He chuckled. "Isn't it obvious? I liked you from the very first time I saw you and I am willing to do anything just to get your attention, " he said and I covered my face with the blanket to hide my already red cheeks.

I was starting to drown at the moment but I remembered something. "But you still left, " I sighed before standing up and picking up my clothes.

While putting it on, I felt muscular arms wrap around my waist. "I'm sorry. It's just that I received a call from my dad and he told me that your family canceled the wedding. He asked me to go home and I wanted to be a good son for once so I chose to go home even if I was going to leave you alone. A week has passed and I missed you deeply so I went back but you weren't there anymore. I wanted to find you but all I know is your first name. I just decided to give up when my parents decided that I should marry the Blackwoods' only daughter and that is Ginger, " he explained but that didn't make me feel any better. It made me feel a lot worse than I've already been. "Then I saw you again after two years and it turns out you're an Addington. You are the girl I was supposed to marry two years ago and it was stupid of me to run away because it turns out, you'll be the greatest thing that will ever happen to me."

I wiped the tears that fell to me cheek. "You should go, " I said before removing his arms that were wrapped around my waist.

"Let's run away, Eira. I am willing to risk everything just to be with you, " he held my hand.

"I've already hurt Ginger enough. You should go please."

"But Eira–"

"I SAID, GO!" I yelled while pushing him out of my bedroom. He looked at me for a few seconds before getting out through the balcony.

And there I felt it again. The pain when he left me and the feeling of discomfort because I know I can't do anything about the situation I'm currently in.

"Are you alright, Lil' sis?" Ezra asked while he held my hand. He asked Ginger before the wedding if he could sit next to me and Ginger said yes because she thought it was cute. She has always been jealous of our sibling relationship because she's not very close to her brothers. The real reason why Ezra wanted to sit with me is because he wants to help me get through the day.

Sweetest brother ever, I know.

"I'll feel better if I'll be attending your own wedding, " I whispered.

"Why you little–"

"Inside voice, brother. Remember our family name, " I smirked and he just glared at me. I don't know why he hates it whenever I talk about him getting married or finding a girl to be with forever.

"Hey, Eira, " Ezra said, squeezing my hand.

"Yeah?" I asked before he pulled me to a hug.

"Give me three years, alright? I'll find you and return you home then you'll have your happily ever after, " he whispered and I got confused.

"What are you–"

"If anyone is against this union, speak now or forever hold your peace, " the officiant announced.

"Raise your hand, " Ezra said.

"Are you crazy?" I asked.

"Lil' sis."

"No."

"Alright. Tannon, do you ta–"

"Wait, " Tannon said cutting the officiant off. He ran to where I was sitting and he grabbed my hand. He pulled me up and we ran outside of the place.

"Are you insane?" I asked him when he was fishing the key of my car out of my purse.
