1.) "Where are you, God? Why can't I find you?" Melissa threw a pillow across the room, sobbing, "My mom had cancer and I accepted it. I was your good little girl. But now my little sister is dying, too? Don't you care about anyone? Is anything safe?"

2.) "Where were you, God? After all this time, why show up now?" she stared at the sea while it rocked the boat. It was hypnotizing. She wondered what would happen if she jumped in. She would drown of course, but what then? She stared at the icy waters, contemplating. To her, life after death would be something she'd never be able to understand. She dipped her hand in the water. It was so tempting. What did she have to live for anyway?
"Don't," a voice said and she felt a hand on her shoulder.
She turned to look but no one was there.
God? She thought.

3.) "Is there a god? Does anyone know the answer?" he turned to face her, looking even more intelligently handsome than he had when she'd first met him, "As a respected professor, I say it's all lunacy for those who can't handle life without the mystical holding their hand."
