Chapter Six: A mothers love

Note: This chapter takes place right after chapter five, so all characters are the same age.

Xaver flew in silence as he led the strange three birds to his father, wondering why they were here. Clary flew beside him, giving the occasional look just to look away. 'I wonder why they want to talk to us in private' Xaver thought to himself as the group flew in silence. Clary left a little while later, claiming that she had to go home to speak to her parents. "See you later" Clary told Xaver, the latter telling her the same with a similar remark.

Thankfully, they reached Xavers tree soon, which was where Xavers father, Johnathan, was waiting. "Hello son; I see you brought company. Who are you guys?" Johnathan asked the birds when they all landed. "We need to be inside before we talk" the one Xaver assumed was the leader, told him. "Alright, come in; by the way, what are you looking at?" Johnathan asked Kiersten (she had introduced herself to Xaver), not rudely in the slightest, but with curiosity. Xaver turned to her to be surprised to see that her eyes were a solid gold color, the same his had been before his first change. "Go ahead; I'll talk to her" Jen said as she placed a wing on Kiersten's shoulder.

As they were about to enter the hollow, Kiersten gasped before her eyes met Johnathans own, something that made him freeze. "Hi honey" Kiersten said, but Xaver knew she was not the one speaking, especially when she turned to Xaver. "You have grown up so much; you look just like your father. Oh, how I wish to be here, alive with your father and you, my little fluff ball" Kiersten said; Xaver began to cry silently, just like his father when he realized who was speaking. "M-mom?" Xaver asked, his voice cracking with emotion. "Yes honey. I'm here" Kiersten said, or more like his mother, said. Xaver smiled before running up to the bird and gave her a hug, openly sobbing as he cried. "I have always wanted to hear your voice" Xaver said as he let go of the possessed bird, a warm smile on his tear stained beak. "I have always wanted to talk with you hun" Xavers mother said as she gave her son another hug, her own tears threatening.

She let go of her son before she turned to her mate, tears flowing freely now. "Johnny..." Xavers mother said before letting out a sob. "Angie..." Jonathan said before he ran into her embrace, both of the love birds reunited at last. "Oh, how I missed you" Jonathan cried as he held onto his wife for dear life, thinking that he wanted her to stay forever.

But all good things were to come to a end.

Xavers mother broke the embrace when Jonathan thought that, telling him that she could not audibly, confusing everyone. "Oh, sorry. I can read thoughts and Johnny wanted me to stay" Xavers mother explained before turning towards Xaver again. "Hun, you need to get ready for a up coming war, one side of light and another of dark, one of which you have to choose to fight for. I don't know when it will happen, but you have to prepare" Angelica said before sad smile crawled across her beak. "My time is almost up. If you ever want to see me, just open your eyes. I love you" was all that Xavers mother said, her voice getting fainter with each word. "I love you mom!" Xaver yelled; a nod from the possessed bird told him that she heard him.

Kiersten's eyes soon turned back to there normal color as Snow seemed to have found his voice. "Kiersten, you know the dangers of letting your self switch bodies with a spirit! She could have stolen-" was all Snow got to say before he was silenced by a raised wing. "Snow, I mean no disrespect, but you have no idea what I felt when I sensed her spirit. Her soul was nothing like I ever experienced before; her soul was as pure as diamond and as heavenly as a goddess. Her love alone for Xaver made me trust her" Kiersten told him before turning to Xaver, her eyes warm with kindness. "Your mom has always been with you, in your heart and mind" Kiersten told Xaver, touching the two spots mentioned with a small smile. Xaver smiled at those words, a warm sensation settling in his heart as well. Xaver closed his eyes as his body began to glow, but was unaware of this as the others watched. The light had finished fading when Xaver opened his eyes, the others gasping at what they saw.

"Xaver, what did you do? How did you do that?!?" Snow yelled, knowing that what he did took himself years to master. "What? I didn't do- holy-" Xaver said as he fell over due to the armor that had formed on him, his young body unaccustomed to the weight of the armor. Snow helped Xaver stand as the latter examined his protection with awe.

The armor was made of a bright white metal coating while the main piece was a sapphire colored chest plate. "I have no idea on how I did that. I just felt a warm feeling and poof, this happened. Anyone care to explain?" Xaver asked the three birds. "What you did was conjure a set of armor from the air around you; it appears that your powers are progressing faster than we thought" Snow explained before turning to Johnathan. "We need to take your son with us to our head quarters to begin his training" Snow told him; this started a reaction within Johnathan. "No, I will not allow you to take my son away! He is all I have, so he will not be going with you" Xavers father told him.

Xaver watched for a while as the two birds argued before interfering with a simple suggestion. "How about I do my training at home? You guys can go find near by hollows to stay in and we can do training each day; besides, I am training with the tribes warriors in the Flora squadron with Clary" Xaver said, silently thinking that she would miss him, like he would miss her. That silenced the adults for a few minutes before they both found that agreeable. "We will start in three days; we need time to get our training equipment. I will fetch you when we are ready" Snow told Xaver before taking off with the other white birds.

Xaver , almost out of instinct, made the armor disappear before his father told him that his Eduardo wished to speak with him and Clary tomorrow. "He wants you two to meet him in the Brazil Nut Grove around noon" Johnathan recited. "Thanks. Oh yeah; Clary wants you to meet her parents, something like she wants her parents to meet you" Xaver told his dad. "Well, let's go" Johnathan said before he followed his son to the grove, there wing beats in near perfect sync as they flew.
