Chapter 1

Cutting through the alley besides the café was probably not the best idea I had come up with. I didn't place all the blame on me, since I was too lazy to go all the way around, but I wasn't planning on slamming into a door and passing out.

So yeah! It wasn't entirely my fault. The blame also went to the person who decided to slam the metal door open at the exact same time I was running in front of it.

"She's coming around," I heard someone say and then that's when I began to feel the pain. My head hurt like a mother fucker, but it wasn't anything I wasn't used to already. Underneath my fingertips, I could feel the softest sheets I had ever felt, and all I wanted to do was to curl up in a little ball like a kitten and go back to sleep.

But the stupid nagging voice and the dumb headache I was sporting forced me to open my eyelids and see who in the world was talking to me.

Two soft hazel eyes that were hidden behind circle shaped glasses were looking down at me. He raised an eyebrow when he noticed that I was staring, and I copied his move.

"Can I help you?" I asked, my voice rasping with the dryness in my throat. Before he could even speak, I sat up, immediately regretting it when the room began to spin and the hammering in my head increased by a million.

"Stay down miss. Don't try to sit up since the bump in your head caused a concussion."

"Oh, thanks for the warning!" I mumbled sarcastically as I rubbed my temples. I heard him sigh, and I opened my eyes to see him still looking at me.

"Where am I? This sure doesn't look like my apartment...."

The first dead giveaway that this wasn't my apartment were the soft sheets underneath me. My bed had one of the roughest sheets known to man, but I couldn't really go to the store and buy new ones with all of my medical expenses. I was barely able to pay my rent and keep my Ramen diet down to a minimum.

The second giveaway was the guy. I had never, in my entire life seen him so how was he in my place? It's not like he knew where I lived anyways.....

The third and last giveaway was the room itself. It looked like one of those rooms that Royal, famous, or rich people stayed at in the movies. You know those rooms you were afraid to even breathe in because you were scared you were going to taint it with your poorness.... Yeah this was it.

"You're in the presidential suite at the-"

"Royale Hotel?!?!" I all but shrieked. There was only one hotel that had a presidential suite within a five block radiance from the café. Plus all the other hotels were just the cheap ones tourists used for their night stay. Or for those people who were too horny to make it to a respectable building that did not have their significant others. Either way, the Royale Hotel was the cleanest, and most expensive hotel in this city.

"Do you need a doctor miss?" The guy asked after he caught my attention with a snap of his finger. I blushed, shook my head, and regretted it as a wave passed by.

"No thank you. I'm tired...... Of.... Oh he's hot...."

The man who stepped into the room smirked, and I blushed again as I quickly looked back to the first man. Since my back was pressed flatly against the headboard, and the strangers were literally surrounding me, there was no possible way I could escape..... Not that I wanted to since this bed was so....

"Miss!" Another snap of some fingers brought me back from my internal babbling and I blinked rapidly.

"Huh?"

"Maybe I did hit her too hard with the door. Are you sure she doesn't need a doctor or something?" Hottie asked the guy, as if I wasn't even there.

I cleared my throat and two sets of eyes quickly snapped to me. I swallowed twice before I spoke. "Yes, I'm fine. Trust me, I've been to enough doctors to know when and if I'm injured."

I quickly yanked the soft, but heavy sheets that were draped above me away and moved my feet across the edge. I quickly slipped on my beaten up black flats and cursed softly as my head began to pound again. I felt a warm palm hold me steady by my shoulder and I quickly shook it off. "I said I'm fine! Thanks for worrying about me, but I have to go now. I'm late." It was probably too late already. I was running home to catch the new episode of Once Upon a Time, but looking at the big grandfather clock that ticked in a corner in the living room told me that there were twenty minutes left over. Darn it!

"Uh.. Ben?" Hottie spoke again as he blocked my way to the door. I stepped aside, only for him to mirror my movements and I frowned.

"Ben can you please tell him to move?" I asked Ben as I stared at the man who was beginning to irritate me.

"Right.... Umm miss I'm sorry but you can't leave."

I quickly moved to the side so I could still see both of them from the corner of my eyes. "What do you mean I can't leave?" My hip was jutting out and I had my best mad face. But I probably looked like a duck who had a broken hip or something. If ducks even had hips.....

"Well.... Umm... You see-"

I interrupted him by raising up my hand and shook my head. "No. I want to hear it from buddy over here." I stuck my thumb out in his direction and from what I could see, he didn't like my small gesture.

"Well act-"

"Nuh uh uh!" I clicked my tongue twice as I shook my head softly. "Benny boy, I told you I wanted to hear it from Prince over here." They both stiffened at my words and I raised an eyebrow. "Did I say something wrong?"

"How did you know I was a prince?" Mr. Prince gasped as he stared at me. I gave Ben my back and stared at him, surprised.

"Actually I didn't. But only people with money can afford to stay in this hotel. Plus you ooze out the whole Prince package with the sash you're wearing." I sniffed as I pointed to the material across his chest with my chin. He cursed, flung it over his head and threw it on top of the glass table with a huge flower centerpiece.

He crossed his muscular arms across said so chest and looked at me. "Alright. So how much will it take for you to be quiet to the press? We can't let you leave without the assurance that you won't press charges or speak to the awaiting press once you step out of here."

I raised my eyebrows. "The press is here? Really?" I ran to one of the huge windows and peeked through the curtains. Sure enough, a bunch of men with cameras and microphones lingered around the front door, taking pictures of everyone who entered.

"Shit. I think we have said too much!" Prince hissed and I turned around to see him run a hand through his hair. For a short second, I was jealous of that hand.....

I raised my hands up in a peaceful mode. "Look. I don't want any money-" Well actually I did need the money, but I wasn't going to take it from a stranger, Prince or not..... "-and I'm not going to press charges. I can assure you, I won't talk to anyone since I don't have any friends so your secret is safe with me. Can I just go home now? Or do you have OUAT in your Hulu account? Because if you do, then just let me watch it and we can say we're even with everything." They both stared at me as if I had spoken another language and I gasped. "Don't tell me you don't watch OUAT!" When they just kept on staring at me, I flung myself to the couch and for a second, buried my face on the soft pillows. Gosh this place was like heaven! "What world have I been living in then? The horror!! The horror!!!!"

"I think she has gone crazy....."

I quickly sat up from the couch and narrowed my eyes at him. He just stared back at me and Ben cleared his throat.

"We can't let you leave miss-"

"Eva. I might look like a teenager, but I can assure you I am 22. So please stop calling me miss. Makes me feel younger than I am." I grumbled at the end.

"We can't let you leave Eva." He repeated again as he took a step forwards. "We can risk and trust your word on you not saying anything. We need you to-"

"Sign a contract?" I sighed and held out my hand. "Blah, blah, blah. Just give it to me so I can leave. I've been breathing rich people air for too long already and I don't want to taint it any longer." Prince looked at me as if he was holding back a chuckle while Ben just walked out of the room. I sighed as I waited and not even thirty seconds later, a contract was placed on my hands. "You must injure many people if you have this ready on hand," I laughed as I looked at it. They just rolled their eyes and watched as I quickly scanned the words, making sure I wasn't selling my soul to them. Not that I would care....

"....Prince Xavier Nicolas II of the ROYAL PACK! You're the werewolf Prince?!" I screeched and they flinched back, wincing at my tone. They both gaped at me and I just stared at Xavier, bewildered that he was actually standing in front of me.

"Is that a problem?" Ben asked as he took a step forward. His eyes flashed and I gulped, shaking my head quickly as I stepped back as well.

"Oh no. I just didn't expect that ever in my 22 years living in this earth I would ever meet a werewolf, much less the Prince of werewolves."

They both laughed and Xavier smirked before he motioned to the paper with a nod. "Sign please. Then you can leave through the back from the kitchen. I'm afraid the press might have taken pictures of us arriving together."

I narrowed my eyes at him as I quickly placed the paper on the glass table and scribbled down my signature. "Well it wouldn't have happened if you hadn't knocked me out with that door. Now can I go?" They both nodded and I all but dropped the pen on the table and zoomed out the door. I was clicking the down button with zero impatience when someone sighed behind me, making me jump. "Gah damn it Benny boy! Don't sneak up on me like that ever again!"

He laughed and rolled his eyes. "Whatever."

As we both stepped into the small space, I began to whistle along to the tunes in the air and then cleared my throat. "So what are you?" He looked down at me with a raised eyebrow before he turned back to facing the front. "What are you to.... Xavier? Are you his butler or what?"

It seemed as if he wasn't even going to answer and I just sighed. So much for small talk..... "Sort of."

I smiled and turned to face him. Dang, this elevator sure was slow..... "What do you mean by 'sort of.'"

He sighed, scratched his neck and then peeked down at me. "I'm his.... Adviser. And personal bodyguard." I quickly scanned him and couldn't help the small chuckle that left my lips. He narrowed his eyes at me and growled, "You think I can't do my job?"

I took a step back, my back colliding with the metal bar as I raised my hands up in a peaceful manner. "Oh no. It's just that.... Well, you don't look like a bodyguard."

He rolled his eyes as the elevator finally dinged and then began to walk with his hands pressed behind his back. "Well that's the point. No one will suspect that his advisor is actually is bodyguard as well."

My stomach snarled as the scent of food passed through my nose when we entered the kitchen. With the noise coming from all the pots and plates, I was surprised that Ben heard it. "You hungry?" I nodded eagerly, my eyes never leaving a plate that had chicken, mashed potatoes and broccoli. Oh, I haven't had broccoli in FOREVER!?

Ben grabbed the plate I was eyeing and handed it to me. My eyes widened as he handed me a set of silverware as well, and then continued to walk past a burning flame like if he hadn't done anything. I just stared at the items in my hands, shocked that I was grabbing something so..... expensive! What would I have to pay for this? An arm?

"Well, what are you waiting for? The exit is this way."

I just stared at the plate in my hands and then looked back up. No one was staring or glaring at me, and when I took a step, the hotel security didn't jump me for trying to take a plate... Could I? Would I?

"Something wrong?"

I shook my head and continued walking. I eyed a white, folded linen in a table and I quickly grabbed it, draping it over the food. Wouldn't want any flies to eat it before I did huh?

Once we reached the door, he opened it up slowly and poked his head out. He then nodded, motioned me over and I stepped outside to the dimming light. "Have a good night."

I nodded. "Thanks for the food."

He nodded back and gave me a pointed look. "You look like you need it." He closed the door, leaving me in the back alley of the hotel, and I frowned.

What did he mean by that?

Without another thought, I sighed and turned around to begin my walk. Damn hotel.... It had to be on the opposite side of where I lived.......
