"What gave you that idea?" Logan asked apprehensively. Patton gave him an odd look.
"Um, the fact that you're here. You never come to my room unless you need something or to make sure I'm okay," Patton explained. Logan refrained from rolling his eyes.
"I can't just talk with you and be around you?" he asked.
"I didn't say that. What I said was that you only ever come to see me when it's on your own terms. When you came, you almost looked lost. Like someone else sent you and helping me was an obligation."
"Helping you is not an obligation, Patton. It never is and never will be. You're a part of Thomas-"
"Oh, so you're only here to make sure Thomas isn't corrupted by my influx of negative emotions, the bulk of which came from him anyways because he's already emotionally unstable, which makes me emotionally unstable, and then the rest of you guys decided to add to my already existent pain?" Patton's mood immediately flipped and Logan looked at him as if he had grown two heads.
"Distracting you was not my main goal, here-"
"Don't lie to me," Patton scoffed.
Logan looked completely offended. "Lie? I'm not lying-"
"A lie of omission is still lying, Logan. You know that. By evading my first question and instead asking how I got that idea, you didn't answer the question, and therefore lied to me." Patton was getting upset again. Logan looked the moral trait up and down, making sure it was still him. It was definitely still the fatherly trait, just... much less fatherly.
"You'll never change, Logan," Patton accused. He stood up and began walking towards the bathroom. The door to enter it was beside his bed, tucked in the corner beside the closet doors. He had to cross in front of Logan to get to it, but Logan didn't stop him. He looked like he wanted to though. But the fact that he didn't made Patton scowl. He didn't want to help him. None of them did. If they did, they wouldn't have sent the person who truly set Patton off. Who caused him to spiral into this depressive state.
So Patton stormed into his bathroom, then slammed the door behind him. He locked the door and immediately began crying silently. He sank to the floor, his back sliding down the wall. His hands swiped across his face briefly, and he opened his eyes. Right in front of him was the sink. He stood up and took the two steps to cross for it, forcing himself not to look in the mirror.
His vision was blurry from the tears and he couldn't really see his hands as they reached for the faucet. He turned on the cold water and splashed some on his face. He then made the mistake of looking up.
Smeared across his face was a black substance that also covered his hands. The source? His eyes. He immediately felt light-headed and gripped the sink, slowly lowering himself to the ground. Weakly, he reached his arm up to the lock and heard it click.
The logical side on the opposite end of the door heard the door unlock, but didn't see anyone come out. A minute passed. Then two. Then three. Logan decided to check to see if Patton was okay.
When he opened the door, he was all but.
