Roman straightened himself up. "I'll go. He and I do seem to have a closer friendship with each other. Maybe I can use that to help him." Logan nodded and Roman was off.
Standing outside the moral trait's room, he sighed. All or nothing. There were only two ways this could go: well or horribly. Roman intended on helping Patton. He just had to remember that this is him helping Patton this time, not the other way around like it usually is.
Roman raised his fist to the door and lightly tapped his knuckles on it. He waited patiently outside the light blue sodden slab. It took a few moments, but he heard a small voice say, "Who is it?" He almost didn't catch it.
"It's Roman. Can I come in?" the prince replied in a soft tone. There were a few more minutes of silence. Patton was using that time to wipe away his tears and put his glasses back on. He tidied up his bed a bit, smoothed out the comforter and blanket, fluffed the pillow he had been crying on, flipped it over so that the dark spots from the tears weren't visible, and picked up the stuffed animals he had thrown to the other side of his room. He then walked over to the door and removed the chair that was propped under the handle as an extra lock before opening it slightly.
He took in Roman's appearance. Nothing seemed off, so it wasn't Deceit. He opened the door a bit wider, allowing the creative side to step in. His head was down and he refused to make eye contact with Roman.
As soon as the door was closed quietly, Patton walked over to his bed and sat down on it. Roman followed in suit, placing himself beside him. He folded his leg over his other leg and placed his elbows on his knees.
He wasn't quite sure what to talk about. Patton had reached behind him and had grabbed a medium sized teddy bear that was clothed the same way Patton was, minus the bottoms and shoes. It was of a medium brown color and his chocolate brown eyes matched the warmth that was usually in Patton's eyes.
Roman missed his smile already.
As Patton traced the heart logo with his thumb on the shirt of the bear, Roman racked his brain for something to say to him.
When Roman was sad or having a bad day, Patton would distract him with something completely unrelated to whatever was going on with him. If he was on a creative block, Patton would rave about Disney with him. If he was sad about a romantic interest, they'd bake cookies together and watch horror films. If he was frustrated with something or just generally felt sad, they would talk about cute guys, most of which were celebrities.
But would that work for Patton? He knew that when it came to Logan, getting straight to the point with his issues was the best way to go about it. With Virgil, music helped. But Patton did not seem like he was in the mood for music. So which way did he go about this? Did he get straight to the point with this or did he distract him from his feelings?
