Roman shook his head.
He had to do this... and he was planning on it now.
His people needed him.
And he had to deliver.
He nodded to the guards along the door and they slowly opened them.
Roman gazed upon a room slathered in whites, greens, and silvers... it looked magnificent - but not as magnificent as the man who stood at the alter.
He was a pale man with dashing blonde hair royal green attire and furs.
Roman slowly walked down the isle towards his future husband until he was before him.
Prince Serpentian took a bow before holding out his hand for Roman's.
Roman graciously supplied the other royal with his hand and received a kiss.
He smiled shyly.
This couldn't be entirely terrible...
"Ssssir Ssserpentian, at your sssservicccce." The royal smiled.
Roman looked in awe as he took in the accent before quickly remembering his manors and bowing. "Sir Princeton."
"Pleasssure," Sir Serpentian smiled a toothy smile before leaning up and allowing Roman to stand on the raised platform with him.
The two held their hands together as the officiator cleared his throat and began to speak.
Sir Serpentian kept a steady gaze with Roman was the ceremony continued on.
Roman returned the gaze... but felt his heart ache at the thought that these eyes that looked upon him for love, would never truly find it. Only a partner - but not the one this prince must expect.
"To have and to hold, until death do you part?"
"I do," Sir Serpentian grinned.
I shant be selfish... my people and my kingdom... shall always come first. "I do..."
"I now pronounce you man and - man - you may now kiss the groom."
Sir Serpentian leaned forward and pressed a kiss to Roman's lips.
It was tender and sweet - until Roman winced at the feeling of a prick in his bottom lip. As the two leaned back, the Royal touched a hand to his lips. He looked down with wide eyes to see a small drop of scarlet and purple blood fall to the ground from his hand, but nothing more.
He recognized the sight, it was the same color of blood that Crofters had bled when she got bitten by that snake a few... wait -
Roman began to move backwards but soon felt the ground rising up the meet him.
He couldn't hear the gasps of horror and despair as he landed on the ground with a thud.
There was a startled shriek and the other prince bent down to help Roman, only to hold him in his arms and lean in to whisper in his ear, "I should thank you for your kingdom'ssss land... Serpentian Territory sssshhall benefit immensssssely..."
No... no! Roman wanted to scream, but nothing came forth from his lips.
He felt his entire body grow numb, and the last sight he saw was that of two glowing yellow eyes... and a single thought.
He would never see Virgil's eyes, nor his being, ever again.
