Avery's POV

I woke up, got dressed had a little breakfast and left for work. Mr Kelenna was a little frustrated but flashed a smile at me when I greeted him. I had lunch with Mia, Zara and Ziri were not in town so it was just both of us.

'So how was the event on Friday?' she smiled at me

'Why is everyone asking me about the event as if it wasn't live on TV'

I blushed a little when I remembered what happened at the event

'Because its more entertaining when told from someone who went there' she said

'But Ziri and Zara also went to the event' I said

'I heard their versions now I want to know yours' she said

'Well the event was classy-'

'Spare me those details, I saw you dancing with I.B and Ziri didn't throw any light on it so tell me what's going on between you two' she demanded

I was quiet and smiled a little before I proceeded to tell the story

'Well, we weren't on talking terms and I was negatively affected so I went to talk to Ziri and he supported and encouraged me to talk to I.B and put the past behind me. I didn't talk to I.B immediately till Friday at the event then he asked me to dance with him' I said

'Did anything else happen?' she asked

'Nope' I said

'Bummer' she said

'Would it make any sense if I.B and I started dating again?' I asked

'Those feelings are coming back again aren't they' she asked

'I don't know but its just so soon and its crazy' I said

'You're scared aren't you?'

'Why wont I?' I said

'Let me advise you on something, this life is too short for you to allow fear hold you back. If you're scared of what some persons would say after what you went through; its their problem to deal with, as long as he is sorry for his actions and you have forgiven him completely that's all that matters. If it's about Ziri, he would respect your decision and he won't think less of you besides he wouldn't mind because he was okay with you guys reconciling so take it as a good sign and don't tell me its too soon for you guys to start dating because that's just rubbish' she said

'Thank you so much' I said as I hugged her

'No problem, I'm leaving here in a few minutes, I have some errands to run; do not forget to take care of our hot boss and protect him from Christie' she winked at me

'See you soon darling' she said as she carried her bag and left the cafeteria.

After lunch I took care of my last appointments and when it was a few minutes to closing time, I was asked to go to Mr Kelenna's office and when I went in the look on his face was deadly.

ALEC'S POV

I woke up with a slight headache and rushed to go to work because I woke up late.

It had been a year since the incident and today was the anniversary of my ignorance and carelessness. Today wasn't going to end well I could feel it.

I wasn't in a good mood but when Avery passed and greeted me good morning I had a little hope for the day. I received a text from Ziola which made me smile also. I started working and didn't realize it was break time. I had a cup of coffee and continued working. An hour after break time, Christie came in.

'Good afternoon sir' she said as she came in.

'Good afternoon how can I help you?' I asked

'I just needed you to go through these documents before I submit them' she said

'Oh okay, drop it on my table, you can come back in a few hours'.

'Okay sir' she said as she left

An hour to closing time, I was frustrated and agitated and the slightest thing would make me lose my sanity.

'Sir, these documents came in and they needed to be done urgently' Christie said as she walked into the office

'Give them to Mia to handle' I said

'Mia isn't around'

I forgot she left early

'Give them to Avery' I said

'Are you sure sir?'

'Yes, and if you don't trust her capabilities check the documents on that file'

Christie walked to the cupboard and I was slightly suspicious at what she was doing but paid no attention to it, she came back and showed me something I never expected and I almost lost it.

She sent someone to call Avery and when Avery came I didn't even give her an opportunity to explain herself when I finally lost control.

'I gave you some documents to take care of and not just any documents, extremely important and confidential ones and this is what you do???' I shouted

'But sir I-' I cut her off

'Don't call me sir or whatever; I cannot believe I overestimated you!! This proved to me that you cannot be trusted with important things; assuming Christie didn't check these files and it got to a higher office I would have lost my job because of your ignorance!!!'

I could see tears dropping from her eyes but she cleaned them immediately
'Can i at least explai---' she pleaded but I refused

Then I made the biggest mistake of my life when I let out the next words

'I wonder why this hospital hired someone like you. Do not think I'll let you go so easily because of the famous status of your parents. I wonder what is wrong with people like you these days'

She tried to explain herself but I didn't let her out of anger.

'Get out of my office before I do something we'll both regret' I said not making eye contact.

She quickly left.

AVERY'S POV

How could he???

He knew how much i disliked being associated with my parents when it came go work related issues. He didnt just scold me privately, he made a scene with it. My admiration for him had turned to desdain.

I had never felt so humiliated for so many years and I had broken the promise I made to myself to never let amyonw get under my skin.

I walked out of the office to see some of my colleagues staring at me and gossips had already spread concerning the incident that took place at Mr Kelenna's office. I hurriedly left the office and drove out. I went to the only place I could think of.

How could he???
