I'm experiencing a little problem with wattpad so please bear with me if the following chapters are not in order

Avery’s POV

It’s been days since I had the talk with Ziri. He had already given me his support but I was still scared to talk to him. I finally made up my mind to talk to him but the problem was ‘when’. Ayden was going to spend a week here in Abuja two weeks after the retirement ceremony. I.B was going to be there and that gave me goose bumps.

A day to the event

Alec’s POV

‘I’m okay over here and the weather has been a little favourable’

‘I haven’t gotten into a relationship since I got to Nigeria so you’ll have to wait a little longer’

‘I love you mum’ I smiled as I hung up

‘Still mummy’s boy’ Chizzy said as he went to get a glass of water.

‘She’s still worried about me finding a wife and giving her grandchildren in the right manner’

‘Speaking of women, when are you going to ask Ziola out?’

I was a little surprised at that question

‘uh?’

‘You know what I mean and don’t give me that crap that you see her as a sister because Saturday told me a different story’ he said

‘She kissed me and it wasn’t even that serious’ I defended

‘To you it wasn’t but to her it was something else; you need to stop leading her on and just ask her out besides you’re not getting any younger’

‘Weird coming from you and you’re starting to sound like my mum’

He was slightly offended then chuckled and continued

‘That means there’s a problem; Delaney is gone and no one can bring her back and it wasn’t your fault, facts and reality show it everyone has moved from it but you’re still carrying the burden. You need to start living and not just for you for Delaney also. She wouldn’t want you to be like this if she were here’ he said

He was right and I needed to move on.

‘You’re right and I can’t believe I got a prep talk in the morning from you of all persons’ I said as I stood up from the stool.

‘This is why we’re best friends’ he said sarcastically as I laughed and went upstairs.

I went to work and exchanged pleasantries with Mia and other personnel in the office.

I was greeted by the famous Avery Uduike and who I realised had similar physical features with DJ AIVY the minute she walked into the office. I didn’t realize I was checking her out till she called me

‘Sir!’

‘Good morning Miss how can I help you?’ I said adjusting myself.

‘I just came to tell you that I would be taking Friday off because of an important event coming up’

‘Oh okay but please make sure you update the work and drop it at my table before leaving’ I said

‘Okay sir’ she said as she walked out.

She wasn’t wearing her lab coat and I noticed the star shaped birthmark on her right arm.

Avery’s POV

I was done with my appointments and check-ups and just finished the work Mr Kelenna assigned to me. I was on my way to his office when I bumped into Mia.

‘Hello’ she said

‘Hi’ I said

‘Where are you off to in such a hurry’ she smirked knowing where I was going to

‘I need to drop these documents off at his office before I leave’

‘Okay oh; she smiled

‘Its not like that now’ I blushed

‘Besides I need to drop it in his office because it’s really confidential and important so he doesn’t want any mistakes’

‘And he didn’t give me imagine that’ she said sarcastically

‘Please don’t start’ I laughed

‘Okay let me have a look and cross check’ she said as I handed over the files to her

( a few minutes later)

‘It’s perfect now go make some chemistry’ she teased

‘Stop’ I laughed as I went to his office

When I went in he wasn’t around so I carefully dropped the files and left the office.

When I stepped out I saw Christie outside her office standing suspiciously and glaring at me. I ignored her and walked out.
I went to prepare for my meeting.

‘I can’t believe you’re going for the event of the season’ Idara said

‘It’s not as amazing as you think besides we’ll go for one of these events sooner or later’

‘I won’t be around so you guys should text me whatever reasonable update there is okay?’ I said

‘Shouldn’t we get something to compensate our efforts?’ Allan teased

‘How are you two partners please?’ Idara asked

‘I ask myself that same question’ I said as we all laughed

‘I have to go tomorrow is going to be hectic so I need to rest well bye!’ I said as I entered my car.

‘Bye’ they both said as they walked to theirs.

000 POV

‘So what do you want us to do to her?’ I asked out of annoyance

‘Something that would make her suffer for the rest of her life; something that when she remembers she’ll know not to mess with me ever again’

‘Don’t you think you’re being spoilt right now?’ I said angrily

‘Besides I never liked that I.B guy because of what he and his Ziri friend did’

‘You’re still hung over that stuff? She died because of a complication or more like *a process gone wrong*’ she said

‘She wouldn’t have been in that situation if not for them’ I said getting agitated

‘But she told you she had made up with one of them’

‘Yes because she didn’t know she was going to suffer a complication and die because of it’ I said angrily

‘Let it go’ she said

‘And its coming from someone who wants to teach an innocent lady a lesson because of a stupid cat fight; go and find a life and leave me out of this scandal’ I said as I stood up

‘You would come back to me!! Mark my words’ she screamed

‘Whatever’ I said as I walked out.
