"Did you know that Victor and Rosa are taking in a new foster kid? He's our age and he's going to be rooming with me! You'll meet him tomorrow. I wonder what he's like," Freddy explains to Penny through the phone that's lying on her desk. During these phone calls she usually just puts him on speaker and catches some details of the conversation.

"Hopefully he's not a dick," is all Penny says as she writes down the answer to a math problem.

"I hope he likes superheroes!" he says excitedly, spinning in his chair and glancing at the bat-a-rang on top of his dresser, "Well, I mean, who doesn't like superheroes!"

The girl hums in agreement and closes her math book, finishing her homework for the night, "When is he coming?"

"Well, Rosa and Victor went to pick him up like an hour ago so he should be here pretty- Oh hi!" Freddy gets cut off and quickly ends the call, causing Penny to roll her eyes and throw her phone on her bed. Typical Freddy Freeman.

"Penny! I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to hang up like that last night!" Freddy quickly tries to explain to his friend who shrugs it off.

"You're fine. I was gonna shower anyways."

Penny looks at Darla hugging a random kid, causing her to give Freddy a confused look.

"That's Billy Batson. My new foster brother. He doesn't talk much. Kind of secretive," he states, but quickly shuts up when he spots Darla walking away sadly.

"Seems like a dick, too," Penny states as the new kid walks towards them.

"Billy! Meet Penny, my best friend in the whole world!" Freddy exclaims, a huge smile on his face.

"I'm your only friend, Freddy. Anyways, nice to meet you and all. I gotta go to Algebra 2. I'll see you at lunch Fred, but I gotta leave for a doctors appointment after so I will not see you after school."

The green haired girl walks away without a second glance towards the young boy, who stands there in shock.

Billy watches her walk down the hallway and is somewhat intrigued by the teenager.

"Don't mind her, she doesn't warm up to strangers very well. What class do you have right now?"

Penny answers her ringing phone and winces when Freddy starts screaming into her ear.

"They ran a fucking car into me! A car! They could've pushed me but no, they almost killed me! Then Billy was about to walk away but he turned around and was like, boom! Hit 'em with my crutch. One in the balls, another in the face. Then he ran off, them chasing me. It was awesome!"

A small smile comes onto her face as she hears that Billy stood up for him. Maybe he isn't as big of a dick as she thought.

"Now he's missing, everyone thinks he ran away. I would love to help them look but no, I'm stuck doing dishes. Leave it to the crippled to wash the dishes. I'm the one who's spent the most time with him, it's not like," Freddy's ranting gets interrupted with a scream, leaving Penny to become extremely worried.

"Help! Victor there's a grown man outside. I don't know who he is! He's going to kill me!"

"Freddy? Freddy? Are you okay!?!?" Penny stands up from laying on her bed and starts pacing, worrying for her friend.

A few moments pass before he answers, "What? Psh. Yeah. I'm fine. Never been better. Got to go. Bye!"

The girl stares at her phone with a very confused look, "He's getting weirder and weirder."
