Penny Wilson stabs her tuna casserole with a plastic fork as she listens to Freddy Freeman rant about superheros. Everyday was the same to her, nothing different ever happened in Fawcett city anyways. The most exciting thing that's happened in her thirteen years of living here was when there was a three day power outage. Freddy's rants was just another boring routine in her day.

"Did you see the story on how Batman saved that school in Gotham? I mean, what if our school was in trouble, would Batman come all the way over here to save us? Or would he send someone else? Like the Flash!" Freddy exclaims, not noticing the bored look on Penny's face as he wonders about a scenario that will never happen.

"Freddy," the green haired girl says, looking at him, "If our school was ever in trouble, no superhero would come and save us. There's no superhero in this city nor even close."

"What if there was!" the boy retorts, used to his friends pessimistic comments, "If there was a superhero that was in our city what do you think his powers would be?"

"Or hers," Penny states, not liking how he assumed that it would be a man, "Besides, we don't need a superhero, Fred. Nothing happens here."

The bell rings and the girl grabs both hers and Freddy's lunch tray before walking over to the trash and throwing the leftover food away. She starts out the door, her friend following her as he tries to continue the conversation.

"But, it would be cool. You can't deny that," the boy says, hurrying after her.

"If I agree with you, will you shut up?" Penny asks, walking into their next classroom.

"I'll think about shutting up."

"Oncle?" Penny says into the dark house after closing the front door, "Are you there?"

"Cuisine," her uncle shouts back in french after hearing his niece.

The girl hangs her backpack on the hook in the hallway and makes her way to the kitchen, smelling the food cooking.

"What are you cooking?" she asks, peering over his shoulder.

"Chicken basquaise," he answers, smiling at the girl, "How was your day?"

"Uneventful. Nothing happens," Penny repeats what she's been saying all day.

"Oh, don't say that. If you keep on saying that, then something huge will happen," he scorns the teenager before looking back at his chicken, "Does this need more salt?"

She takes a piece off the pan and blows on it before popping it into her mouth, "More pepper. Now I have a lot of homework, tell me when dinner is ready please."

He nods his head and the girl grabs her backpack off the hook and enters her bedroom.

Penny throws her bag underneath her black desk before turning on her desk lamp. She opens up her biology binder and looks at it with a sigh.

"Same old boring day," she mutters.

This is really rough but I just wanted to introduce Penny and her relationships with everybody. She's sort of a feminist and was raised in a French household. She is not fluent in French but knows a lot of it. Hope you guys enjoyed the first chapter and I'm sorry its so short.
