Ally Samuels ~ I
Day three and nothing devastating has happened yet. I've gotten to know the others better and they're not all bad. If we met in another situation we could probably all be friends. I say probably because a) we're all clearly from different crowds and b) I don't know if some of us would talk to anyone unless forced to.
Bee is super friendly, she's made of clear ponds, sunshine, dew on grass and flowers. I seriously need to be this girl's friend, she seems like the best person to hang out and/or cuddle with. Plus, she owns frogs and is a lesbian. Lesbians who own frogs are the best, as far my experiences go.
Molly is practically psychic, she reads people like they're open books and it doesn't seem to take the slightest effort, but she's pretty shy when we gather in groups, sticking beside Bee like a safety raft. I've heard her laugh though it's just... marvelous.
Frank is a jokester. Our local comedian. At first glance he has no sense of personal space but he's just really good at finding the limits of people's boundaries and never stepping past those. He also let me beat his face (in the makeup way) and asked to keep the skirt I put him in, which I love him for. I'm also pretty sure he's the oldest in the group.
Luis is trying his best, I really believe he is, he just isn't a people person. He's the kid who sits alone at school and reads books that seem really boring. He'd get average grades, occasionally get in trouble and no one'd really be aware of his presence. He also seems blind to all human ways of functioning, testing Taylor's leadership and snapping at Molly for sharing something she read.
Then there's Taylor. Taylor Grant, our 5'5" Sherlock Holmes. I know that was Luis's joke but I just can't unsee it. The way they look at everyone, like some evidence that's ruining their theory, it's freaky. Taylor is freaky, but they have a cool style and I want them to be my friend.
"Ally!" Frank poked me in the ribs and I shoved him aside, letting out a squeak of surprise. "You spaced out. It's breakfast time."
"Are we eating chicken nuggets for breakfast again?" I asked, standing up to follow him. I had been sitting on the couch with Frank, though it seemed he'd had time to go to the kitchen and come back.
"Even better."
"Oh yeah?"
"Bread with honey."
"Is that the most breakfasty thing we've got?"
"Yeah, the bread was in Molly's box and she let us have some and the honey was in the cupboard but it was labelled 'for the Bee'. Apparently Chiron has a sense of humor."
"I wouldn't call it humorous, but sure."
"That's what Molly said. I found the honey and laughed, giving it to Bee, and Molly gave me this completely blank look and said something like 'how can you think this place has any comedic potential?'" His imitation of Molly was terrible but it made me laugh. Probably because it was terrible. He pushed his messy hair out of his eyes and smiled at me. "Everyone's in the kitchen, we were waiting for you."
"Sorry."
"Nah. Never have I had a crowd so reluctant to admit I'm a comedic genius though." He shrugged. "Taylor, Luis, Bee and Molly still haven't."
"That's everyone in the room but you."
"Yup."
We were in the kitchen now and everyone was standing/sitting at their usual places, which meant a chair was left available for me beside Molly. Luis had control of the honey and bread because we'd all discovered he was a good cook and despite there not being much he could do with bread and honey, we trusted him to make it taste like more than just honey on a slice of bread.
I sat down at my seat and Molly waved at me, and I smiled and waved back. Once I was seated Luis started handing out bread with honey. First Molly, because it was her bread, then Bee, because it was her honey, then Frank then me then Taylor, for no apparent reasons.
We ate our breakfast and chatted, sharing stories from our homes and our pasts, what we want to be if we grow up and a few random things that either made everyone think or laugh. Molly said she'd love to be a therapist, Bee an artist (apparently she had an account online where she posted her art), Frank a comedian, Luis a lawyer and Taylor a detective, though we already knew that. I'd love to be an engineer and when I shared that Bee gave me the oddest look. The bread was done and despite everyone still being hungry we had to ration our food because we didn't want to run out of bread and we didn't know if the honey was another monthly thing or not.
"Please tell me someone knows of an interesting way to spend our time because I'm going to die of boredom before anyone can get to me if we just sit around all day." Frank from his spot against the wall.
"I brought board and card games." Luis said. "I can go get some, if you want."
"Thanks Luey." Frank cooed.
"I-- don't-- I'm going to kill you."
"Not if I kill you first, Luey." Frank smirked and Luis gave him a murderous glare which was mostly for show. "Go get the board games please, Luis Murray."
Luis grumbled something inaudible and went to our room to get the games. Taylor was watching the scene unfold with narrow eyes, almost like a cat. They hopped off the countertop and put their hands on their hips, somehow managing to be intimidating despite being at least a head shorter than everyone else in the room. They had a dark gray turtleneck sweater today, paired yet again with black jeans and camper boots. They were the only one still bothering to put shoes on, though it was probably because the shoes made them a little taller and they could definitely use the height, being the height of a twelve year old child.
"Lets go to the living room?" They offered and we all nodded or agreed. The living room was the biggest room in the house, which wasn't saying much because all the rooms were so small. Bee led the way into the living room and when we passed Luis, Frank and I's room Frank informed Luis we were in the living room, which was probably not necessary, he definitely heard us move from the kitchen to the living room.
Taylor, Frank and Molly sat on the couch while Bee lay down on her stomach on the floor, using her hands to hold up her head. I sat cross-legged beside her and she rolled over, placing her head on my lap and staring up into my eyes, short blonde hair all over my lap.
"Hey there." I waved down at her and she stuck her tongue out at me playfully. She is sunshine as a human being.
"How are you, Ally?" She asked, getting more comfortable on my legs.
"Pretty good, for a person trapped in a terrifying murder-based game."
"Me too." She squinted her eyes at me. "How gay are you?"
I was surprised at the question, it wasn't usually how people asked me what my sexuality was. Then again, Bee was a completely different breed. "Pretty gay."
"But not completely gay." She reached up and fiddled with my long hair, which was hanging in her face. "Bi?"
"You got it." I smiled down at her.
"Great. Another addition to the team." She grinned contentedly and shut her eyes, like she was about to take a nap right there. I wouldn't've minded too much, honestly, she radiated a comforting warmth.
Luis joined us with his games in hand, setting them down beside the couch so everyone could grab some.
"Took you awhile." Molly said.
"I got distracted." He defended himself, then sat down opposite Bee and I. She sat up and grabbed a deck of uno cards. When everyone started picking games from the pile I realized this would probably end in chaos.
I was right. After winning against Bee four times she insisted I play against Molly. I beat Molly. Everyone challenged me, until it was just Taylor and I, playing the most intense game of uno ever. Everyone was chanting for Taylor, probably because I'd beaten all of them at least twice.
"Uno." Taylor said, holding their card to their chest.
"Uno." I countered. It was the third time we'd reached uno, but I had a good card and as long as they didn't I could win.
Taylor put down their card dramatically and stood up, cheering. The four spectators clapped wildly as if they'd just pulled a dove from their sleeve, and I set down my card then shuffled the deck.
"Round two?" I offered.
"No!" Frank shouted before Taylor could accept, though I could tell they wanted to. "That's enough of that."
"Maybe games weren't a great idea?" Molly asked, eyeing the discarded chess pieces and cards littered all over the floor and on the couch.
"What do you mean?" Bee was grinning ear to ear. "This is the most fun I've ever had!"
"We could settle all our problems with rounds of go fish." Luis chuckled.
"Oh yeah! That's how we decide who lives!" Frank exclaimed. "When you lose you get killed by the person who beat you. Death go fish." He said 'death go fish' super seriously, like it was the most ultimate professional game ever, and I burst out laughing, joined by Molly and Luis.
