Walls

It had been about a week boarding on close to two weeks since Rumple had met Ashleigh. And yet, he couldn't stop thinking about her, and he couldn't figure out why. It kept gnawing at the back of his mind, no matter how hard he tried to push the thoughts away. It wasn't like she was related to him...right? No, of course not, I would know if had a daughter...wouldn't I? Rumple thought to himself as he waited for his lunch in a restaurant. Little did he know that he would once again see the girl again.  As the dark one drummed  his fingers on the table, his patience growing somewhat thin, he heard police sirens, which was common in New York. Curious, he looked out the window to see what was going on. What Rumple saw wasn't what he was expecting. A police officer was escorting a girl, that looked like Ashleigh if he didn't know better, but then again he had only seen her once, out of a nearby convince store in handcuffs. Rumple groaned inwardly, having been hit with an urge to help her. Why? He wasn't entirely sure. He sighed and after paying the bill, he went to where Ashleigh was being kept. He was escorted into the visitor area where he was permitted to talk to her once he got there. Once both Ashleigh and Rumple were seated, on opposite sides of the glass of course, they picked their phones.

"What happened? Why are you here?" Rumple asked Ashleigh. Of course there were other things the dark one wanted to know about her but he thought he would start with those questions, given the situation. "I was hungry, so I tried to get something to eat so long story short they pressed charges." Ashleigh explained. Looking at her now, Rumple could see that, if possible, she looked worse than the last time they met. "What exactly did you steal?" Rumple asked, curious. "Not much, just toothpaste, a toothbrush, and a box of Twinkies." Ashleigh said. You've got to be joking. Rumple thought to himself. This is ridiculous, I mean who  would arrest a homeless girl for that?

After asking how much bail was, and paying it, Rumple walked back to his apartment with Ashleigh. After all, he could at least give her a roof over her head, while he was in New York right?  Maybe then it would ease the gnawing feeling in the back of his mind that never seemed to go away since he met her. Maybe...
