Fragile:Handle with care
After wrapping the girl in his coat and making sure no one besides him and the girl were the only people in the alley, he teleported them to his apartment, so he could get a proper look at the stranger.
Once they were at the destination, Rumple carefully set the girl on the bed, grateful that he just so happened to come across a vacant two bedroom apartment in NYC. Seeing that the stranger was passed out, the Dark One carried her to the vacant bedroom. Somehow he couldn't help but recall a similar situation as he carried the girl to the room.
Flashback
It was a week after Milah had abandoned her family in favor of living life as a pirate. Since then, Rumple had been spinning as much wool as he could to provide for himself as well as his son. He was right in the middle of spinning some wool to sell at the marketplace when it happened. Bae ran into thier home, tears streaming down his face, cuts and bruises in various places on his body. The door slammed behind him, and once it did, it was then that he allowed himself to shake like a leaf while his body wrecked with sobs. During all of this, Rumple had left his wheel and gone over to his son and as any single concerned father would, he tried to comfort Bae. "What happened son?" Rumple asked in a calm and yet concerned tone, once Bae was calmed enough to speak. "I-I was coming home from the bakery to see if I could get at least some butter and bread but..." '"But?" Rumple prodded gently. "But on my way home some men that were looking for soldiers to fight in the Ogre Wars asked me if I would fight. I didn't know what to say, so I stayed silent. They followed me until I was trapped against a dead end with no where to go. Papa, the men... they beat me, to try to make me into a solider." Rumple hugged his son and held him close in his arms,as his son started to unravel once again. "It's going to be alright Bae. I'm here. Everything will be alright. I'm here."
Soon the girl's eyes fluttered open. Where was she? How did she get here? These questions and more swirled around in her head as she tried to get her bearings. She was just about to go out of the window via a makeshift rope ladder, when she heard a voice. "Going somewhere dearie?" Started, she turned around only to come face to face with the person she assumed was her benefactor. He was a man with brown eyes and greying hair. He was dressed in a charcoal black suit with a red tie and black shoes and she also noticed that he carried a cane. Why? She knew better than to ask. She glared at him, "what concern is it of yours if I leave or if I stay?" Rumple looked at the person he had taken in only minutes ago, and he wasn't sure why but he felt like there was a connection with her. Not like a husband wife connection, more like the connection a parent would have with thier child. But how could that be? Rumple was sure beyond a shadow of a doubt that he only had one child. Bae.
"Let's just say you remind me of someone I once knew." The teenager nodded trying to absorb the information she had been given. "So why do you give a damn about me no one else does." As soon as the words left her mouth all the Dark One could think about was when he saw he saw his own father after years of being abandoned, trying to find the missing boys in the village. Acting on an impulse, he shocked both himself and the girl. How? He hugged her. The girl broke free quickly, "what was that about?" She let the question hang in the air and without waiting for an answer she started climbing down her makeshift ladder. She wasn't even halfway down when she heard his voice yet again. "What is your name dearie?" The fourteen year old girl looked up at him. "Ashleigh. My name is Ashleigh." And without another word she disappeared into the dark, cold, crowded streets of New York City.
