"Oof!" Jon caught himself before he fell and spun around. A chestnut stallion poked it's head out of his stall and flipped it's mane. "Sorry. That's Cookie. He likes to push people around." The horse once again nudged at Jon trying to find anything hidden in his shirt pockets.
"Sorry pal." Jon said as Cookie went back to his feed bag. Erika laughed. "It's Max's horse and he spoils it... Max is my son. Adopted" she said daring Baker to say anything.
He just smiled and asked "Was that him- Oh no you called him John didn't you?" Erika relaxed. "Yes John is in my custody but he's my brother. Max is my cousin... also in my custody" Jon nodded and she was glad that he didn't ask.
"This is John's horse. Say hello Party Animal" the tan mare hardly paid them attention. "Somehow the name doesn't fit" Baker joked. Erika laughed as they moved on to the next stall. "Magpie... and Fil-leap-ay. These are the two we use for training riders. Sometimes people come around looking for a coach"
"They're all beautiful" Jon said but then looked around at the other empty stalls. "I thought you had five horses?" Erika giggled before putting her fingers to her mouth and whistling. The Grey Arabian mare from before came trotting into the stable.
"Well hi there! I do believe you beat me in a race earlier" Jon said stroking the nose of the majestic animal. "My horse Cloud. She likes to run especially when racing cars out there... do you ride?" Jon nodded "I have a horse of my own. Name's Ol' Grey"
"Oh well I know you wouldn't want to ride any of my horses of course..." Erika said as Baker's eyes lit up. "Could we?" She smiled "You'll love it around here! We have some of the best trails!" "Well what are we waiting for? Let's saddle up"
Erika was all of the sudden overjoyed at the thought of sharing her little peice of heaven with someone her age. Someone who she could really talk to about things. Someone she worked with.
Erika paused when she remembered her first few days at the LAPD. Jim Reed had said that it was wonderful having someone to share moments with and to just keep company and for the first time... she was beginning to think it might be true.
Don't be ridiculous T.T. but then she thought again well maybe sharing this with a friend would be nice...
"Ready to go?" Erika asked once her horse was all tacked up and ready to go. She was almost startled to find Jon was ready and staring at her. Their gazes locked again before Baker looked away "Ready." He said leading Fil-leap-ay out of the stable after Erika.
They mounted up and rode off to the trails; four pairs of eyes watching as they left. "Ma deserves a friend her age" Max argued before returning to his cooking. John remained at the window. Maybe...

I realize that for a horse grey also means a white horse but Cloud is literally grey :)
