After getting dressed in a old green t-shirt and overalls Erika had headed out to see if there were any chores to be done. There were. "No sense in doing your chores too T.T." John called from the hay loft. "Thanks!" Erika yelled back sarcastically.
"Oh by the way the neighbors' chicken is in the house again. Anyone want to go get it for me?" Erika asked. John once again stuck his head out from the hay loft.
"Whad'ya say Max? Wanna go get the chicken?" He mocked. Maximus scowled at his older brother. John knew that he was scared of chickens... for some strange reason.
Erika took a moment to breath in the clean mist that had settled around the house. She gazed out at the grassy emerald hills that rolled back and then gave way to woods. The five horses were grazing peaceful completing the scene. Not something you would expect to find in LA.
Erika got to work filling the troughs and laying down fresh hay in the stalls. When she finished she moved on to refilling the feed bags. Her movements slowed as something came to her mind. John looked at her in confusion from the ladder.
"Somethin wrong Erika" her young brother asked. "Hmmm? Oh no everything is fine... we might have company over today" Erika replied thoughtfully. She wondered if Jonathan Baker really would come today. What if Ponch told him how she'd reacted yesterday?
She shrugged it off. Erika was always the one that was calm about everything and didn't really care what others thought about her. Not that she didn't try to do her best.
"Hey mom? Can I cook..." Max asked excitedly though he tried to hide it. Erika smiled to herself and said "Cook? It's past breakfast. Not quite lunch. What could you possibly be cooking for?"
John groaned. "Did you have to ask that? We go through this every day!" Maximus ignored him as he went on "I found this new recipe for that I just have to try! It's looks amazing. You won't regret it I promise" He waited hopefully as Erika lifted her eyes in thought. "Oh alright. Go ahead"
Max kissed her on the cheek and ran into the house to get started while John loaded another bale of hay into the barn. "You're too soft you know that" he stated. "Yeah well so are you" Erika said with her hands on her hips "in the head"
John picked up a bucket of water and raised an eyebrow. Erika gasped and ran for the house. "John Jeremy Lasky don't you dare!"
