Gazing

A/N: As usual, I would recommend putting the video on loop.

Like the human male had stated, the pool wasn't deep, but the water was piercing cold. (F/n)'s teeth chattered while she kept her mouth shut. She needed to preserve as much oxygen as she could since the man had never disclosed how long the distance was to the lookout spot. How he even discovered to get to such a place was curious, but she didn't question it too much. After all, he had little reason to lie to them unless he liked to make others suffer.

Whatever the case, the important matter was dealing with the three spies in that space. They had made no plan to take them out, for they couldn't stand around in one area for too long. Tarhuinn seemed confident in disposing of them, though. Her thoughts soon only went to her lack of oxygen. Her eyes were already shut, but she closed them tighter as if that would help solve her air problem.

When air greeted her lungs, she felt Tarhuinn's grip on her disappear completely. Her eyelids shot open, and she spotted three stunned expressions. These looks quickly changed to ones of glee, but none of this stalled Tarhuinn. The moment that they had hit air again, he had leaped out of the water and attacked the one facing the pool.

She had just caught him plunging one of his daggers into the neck of the spy. They both fell to the ground, but he was back on his feet instantly. He went after the one to his left, but the other spy looked over to her way. The grin never left their lips as they charged towards (f/n). Instantly, she went to reach for her dagger, but she realized that she no longer had it on her. It was in Tarhuinn's pack.

Cursing, she didn't know what to do. Fighting a kelremm in the water would be near impossible, but she couldn't get out in time. Tarhuinn was busy dodging the attacks of the other, but his gaze did turn her way for a moment. Realization struck him, and he dealt a blow to the one spy's right arm.

(F/n) had to look away from him, though. The second spy had reached her. She swam farther back into the pool, not having anywhere else to go. They dived in, and she prepared herself. Both the spy and she knew her obvious disadvantage, and Tarhuinn wasn't right there to defeat the spy.

Luckily, the spy hadn't drawn the daggers at their side, but their mouth full of sharp teeth was intimidating. The spy parted their lips to presumably make some remark, but she didn't allow a word to leave their mouth. She pushed her feet off of the stone wall behind her and shot towards the spy. They weren't expecting this, and therefore had no time to dodge.

Colliding with the kelremm, she clasped her hands around their throat. (F/n) was shivering from the cold, but she forced herself to push the feeling aside. She tightened her hold as much as she could, but this had barely any effect. The kelremm brought up one of their knees and impacted it against her midsection. Her grip vanished, and she felt the air leave her. Almost, she thought that blood would come up.

Pushing her under, the kelremm held her there as she regained back her senses. She struggled and tried to get away, but things weren't in her favor. Her eyes directed themselves over to the dagger that on the left hip of the spy. In a last effort to escape the spy, her right hand grasped the weapon. (F/n) managed to unsheathe it before the spy could do anything. Instead of trying to aim for anything in particular, she stabbed the blade into the spy's left side. A clear cry of pain exited the spy's mouth, but she barely heard it and only saw bubbles rise to the surface of the water.

Wasting no time, she pulled out the blade and plunged it into the spy again. She never saw where she hit on the second strike, for the spy was knocked to their right. Long, ink-black locks flew by her before she saw the spy and Tarhuinn collide with the stone wall. Her need for air, though, drove her to the surface.

Breaking it, she gasped and wiped the water from her face. She pushed back wet locks of hair. Before her, she saw the body of the first fallen spy while the second one was in worse condition. They shouldn't have kept Tarhuinn from getting to her. Otherwise, they may have had a quicker death.

Her fingers grasped the stone, and she pulled herself up from the water, but she was mindful not to touch the crimson, which was slowly covering the whole floor of the lookout area. Once on her feet, she walked over to the first fallen spy and removed their dagger belt. The belt sheathed four daggers, and they were somewhat similar to Tarhuinn's.

As she tied the belt, Tarhuinn surfaced while the third spy floated up. Getting out of the water, he sheathed his one dagger and walked up to stand beside her. "Are you alright? Did that kelremm seriously injure you anywhere?"

"No, I'm fine, Tarhuinn. Thank you, though." Her eyes darted over the corpses again. She was tempted to ask him if he really need to kill them in such ways, but she remained silent. To him, it was necessary, and she probably wouldn't be able to convince him otherwise.

Directing her gaze to the window in the space, she headed over there cautiously. Tarhuinn placed a hand on her right shoulder and pulled her back a little. He motioned for her to stay close to the wall and not stand directly in front of the window. She already knew not to do that, but she assumed that Tarhuinn was using that as an excuse to care for her more. The gesture caused a small smile to fall upon her lips. Honestly, he needed to make sure that he had no injuries as well, but his body heat was welcome.

Next to the wall, though, she peered out through the window. Down below, the entirety of the floor had water running over it. It cascaded down the multiple stones steps, which led up to a stone table and five chairs. It looked like in the past that there had been room for a sixth chair. Currently, no one occupied any of them. No one was even in the space.

Unsettled by this, she looked over her left shoulder even though she knew that no one was behind them. She heard a door open, however. Her attention turned back towards the room, and her eyes widened. Of course, she knew that an author would eventually enter the space and that she would see at least one of them with her own eyes, but it was still a shock to actually view one.

Mind processing the information, her eyes took in everything about them. She recalled the information that she had learned the night before entering the authors' home. The straight, shoulder-length hair and sky blue eyes gave away the author's name. Before them, Rocean stood.

His hands were on his hips, and he was shirtless. Only some grey pants were on his legs while his countenance displayed feelings of irritation. He glanced over the room before he turned on his heel and headed towards one of the doors in the space. Raising his right fist, he pounded on the object. "Byda, I know that you're in there! Get up and open this door, will you! You promised that you would meet me in my room around this time. So, hurry up and come already!"

The male received no answer. A growl left his lips before he frustratingly combed his fingers through his hair. He pulled it back and grabbed something from his right pants' pocket. It was a purple ribbon, which he used to tie his hair back. Banging his fist against the door again, he yelled out the same commands. Again, no answer was given. "Fine! I'll just go enjoy the company of a woman. I'm sure that one of the spies wouldn't mind sharing their partner." He started down the steps, skipping one every now and then. Almost at the bottom, the door that he had been hitting swung open.

"Don't you dare! Get back up here, Thy!" a female kelremm shouted. Based off of her hair being tied up in a bun and her ocean blue eyes, (f/n) assumed her to be Amtoma. "How dare you threaten me with such information!"

Smirking, Rocean glanced over his left shoulder and up at her. "I knew that you would come around, darling. You should know that I'll just go off if you ignore me. You already give me so little attention; it's hard not to walk off on a daily basis."

"Oh, so you've been seeing someone else, then? Just who have you been visiting on a not daily basis?" she asked, taking some steps forward. The female kelremm looked like she would strangle him, but he only kept grinning. It was obvious that he wanted to provoke her more, and she was falling right into his desire.

"I wonder. Maybe if you give me some more affection, you can get me to tell you. Otherwise, I'll just have to keep her name a secret. What do you say, love? Want to play a little?"

Instead of answering him, she marched down the stairs. She stopped on the one above his before she leaned forward towards his right ear. Amtoma whispered something to him, but her next action was anything but intimate.Bringing up her right foot, she kicked him in the midsection, which caused him to fall backwards. Water splashed upwards as he fell into the pool at the base of the steps. He propped himself up on his hands and laughed loudly. "You must have been in quite a deep sleep. Did I really anger you that much?"

Stepping into the pool, she grabbed him by his bangs and tugged him towards her. Several groans of discomfort left his mouth, but he never lost his smirk. "You have no idea." Her hand traveled to his right arm, and she lifted him up before she began to drag him back up the stairs. Soon enough, his room door slammed behind the two.
