Chanyeol's POV Six Hours Later!
Chanyeol raises his snout to sent the air, his hackles instantly rising when he no longer smells the fresh air, and mossy woody smell of the forest surrounding them. He paws at the ground and sniffs once again, he can clearly smell that stale mead, and stench of centuries old death in the air! Instantly he closes his shared link with his precious mate, hating that he is breaking his promise not to be parted. He has to do this though and hastily reaches for his pack members. Sehun come with me, Jongdae keep Baekhyun and Minseok with you! Head for the river, and have Yixing, Tao And Kai shift to buy you time. Dont stop until you reach the river, no matter what happens stay there. I will come for you all when it's safe. It's takes only milliseconds for him to hear Jongdae heard the two omegas closer together, impressed that Jongdae has decided to go down wind it will keep their scents to the minimum. He knows it's more of a diversion as the sweet honey smell of Baekhyun's looming heat will draw in any rogue wolf! He may of closed off his newly formed link, but it doesn't stop Baekhyun's fear and confusion from seeping into his conscience.

He has never felt such heart pounding fear himself, he dare not turn his head see the crystalline tears on his mates face because he closed their link! He can already hear the soft pained whimpering and it breaks his heat, but he must keep their link closed. A distraction from his sweet mates confusion will be deadly, especially now that he is about to hunt out wolves. Chanyeol really can't bare the thought of his Omega's rare heritage being discovered away from the safety of his pack. Plus that distraction will appeal to his need for Baekhyun to remain in his sight! His stubbornness will overrule his ability to move forward and he will instantly want to shift back to his human form.

He now understands why some say having a mate is the greatest challenge, he's torn between two very primal needs! One to fight, the other to protect he so desperately wants to follow his still whimpering and confused yet to be claimed mate! Who he can sense is needing to coached forward by his parents, he desperately wants to be the one to calm and soothe that fragile energy. But stand his ground as Jongdae finally starts to move Baekhyun away from his line of sight! His next move will cause more confusion and pain, as he digs his claws into the ground to control his own emotions. He has to do this, his need to ensure his new family is safe encompasses everything else. He knows Sehun is waiting for him to make the first move, Sehun's angry and inpatient scent snaps him out of his dilemma with determination to do what he has to. He lets out a whine of his own as he succumbs to his animal instincts, he can feel intense heat ripple through his powerful muscles.  It's one of the reasons he is a supreme alpha, he has a strength unmatched by anyone even Yukio.  He lowers his body ready to run, the sudden stronger scent of blood from the east is enough to have him launch in to a run to chase his prey.

Half an Hour Later
Chanyeol stands in the middle of a deserted camp, the tracks of six wolves are clear on the ground! He has to turn his nose up at the entrails of their lunch, his heart goes out to the poor animal Blanca had hunted. He doubts the poor animal had a clean death, he can't even tell what it was with how the fur has been left in hacked apart piles! His own clan make sure any kill is given a quick death, and that they use everything they can from the kill. Furs are used for soft furnishings, the liver is kept and cooked before being pickled for those in need of of additional minerals, intestines and the suet surrounding the organs are boiled to become storage to keep meat from soiling. It's how they honour the sacrifice the animal made, yes they don't have to hunt as much now as his pack keep goats and chickens can cook and they do trade amongst the other clans too!

The snap of a twig behind his has him turn in time find Sehun in human form, its only a couple seconds before Chanyeol watches Sehun throw down his own cotton tunic, a tunic he had no idea his companion was carrying within his muzzle when he bolted from his mate and companions. He has to had to his friend, he maybe stronger in his wolf form but returning to the travelling party will instantly calm the confusion over his sudden departure. He wills himself back to his human form, normally he would not mind his nakedness especially in this situation where adrenaline and pheromones are high in the air. Its common especially those who are mated after hunts to use their high adrenaline for all the more pleasurable acts!

Now however he won't bask in the euphoria of intercourse after a good hunt of fight with just anyone, he has an unclaimed mate. It would be inappropriate on so many levels to even think about enjoying that adrenaline now, one because his mate still needs to have his first heat, the second because he has resided in a temple for all his life and has never had to experience a pack after a hunt. Shaking his head to clear his thoughts he quickly dresses himself, as they may not be out of the woods! It's only as he ties his tunic does he get a whiff of the frustration of his second in command, it's one of annoyance, which settles his wolf who he can feel still has his hackles raised.

"Alpha, the wolves of this camp are long gone!"

"I think they set this camp to intercept us, expecting us to leave the temple straight away!"

"It was a genius idea of Minseok to wait four hours before leaving the temple. It would appear out winter clan got bored of waiting to intercept us"

"Do you think they the winter clan will return to the Temple Alpha?"

"I hope not, Yixing has assured me that the remaining priests are Betas and can protect themselves should they need to. Blanca and Yukio may not follow our traditions, I have already warned them the temple is sacred! To cause a scene on sacred grounds will not go down well with any of the clans nor the elders. I am positive the winter clan do not want to draw more attention to themselves."

"What if they do?"

"Then as supreme alpha, I will have no choice but to declare war!"

"Alpha are we ready for that?"

"By the gods no, we still have to consider their reaction to Baekhyun. Sehun my mate is not to be left unprotected for anything."

"Do you really think Luhan  and even Jongdae to an extent will give him a moments peace. It will be fun to see Luhan's pout at no longer being the highest ranking consort between our clans."

"Sehun, you are wicked"

"I am not, Luhan will use this now to finally demand combat training,"

"Sehun, I think we both know Luhan is more then capable then defending our walls, not that you would let him fight on the front lines! I would not allow it either, besides I think you will have hard competition for his attention once he meets Baekhyun."

Chanyeol has to suppress a snicker at the Sehun's whine of acknowledgment, he can't help it but smiles for the first time in what feels like hours! It's hard to believe he's experienced such a myriad of emotions today, from unadulterated joy, arousal and love to indescribable fear and boiling anger. All in the twelve hours since he first arrived at the temple, he purveys the wrecked remnants of the camp he stands in. He can feel how his wolf still has an agitated demeanour and his hackles raised. He and his wolf have always been in tune and the way his wolf is unsettled, makes him think something so much bigger could be brewing.

"Chanyeol I can hear your thoughts, I promise we will be ready for what ever happens! Right now your inexperienced mate will need you, I can smell his heat coming we have only two days before he will receive it!"

"Your right I can not let paranoia rule my judgment! Sehun send word back to Luhan and my father to be discreetly on guard! The sun will be setting soon we should make a camp for the night and leave at first light!"

Chanyeol watches as Sehun nods, before bursting out of his tunic, into his magnificent ebony coloured wolf! Chanyeol smiles at the white strip of fur on his chest, it matches Sehun's love of low v necked tunics. All of course for Luhan's benefit, the beta that captured his heart some 2000 years ago. You could almost mistake Luhan for an omega, with his slim build and fair skin. Chanyeol in fact when he first met Luhan he thought he was an omega. That idea was soon but to bed when Luhan morphed in to his wolf, and he joins the hunt bringing down a deer without the aid of the others with them. Chanyeol smiles as he no longer feels that potent jealously over his closet friend, he will no longer have to conceal how he felt watching their reunions and clear love for each other. His thoughts are cut off when he hears Sehun through their link.

I will remain in this form Alpha, I will also take the first watch, your mate will be restless the longer we linger here.

Chanyeol nods to his friend, he has a point they have been  separated from the rest of the travelling party long enough! He watches for a second as Sehun takes flight for the path they came on, before taking a deep breath and following him.

Baekhyun's POV,
Baekhyun stands on the side of the river bank desperately trying to calm his racing heart! Its been two hours since he watched Chanyeol and Sehun in their wolf form rush through the trees, despite only hours before promising they would not be parted! He could only whimper as that soothing presence sitting along his own subconscious, suddenly became an echo as Chanyeol blocked their link! He and his wolf wanted to chase after him, but his mother's vice like grip prevented him from shifting himself and given chase. He is embarrassed at how he acted, as it took him a several minutes and excessive whimpering and his wolf howling within him to realise his father and the adolescent Kai and Tao also shifted. All before Jongdae and his mother moved him away from the trail they were on.

It was only when they reached the river did his father, in his woody brown wolf form wrapped around him like he used to when he was a curious pup and needed calming down. Gently placing his muzzle in his lap and using their link to calmly explain that Chanyeol had muted their link so that he could concentrate. It had all made sense then, and his heart burst with love for the Alpha even more, he couldn't believe that Chanyeol willingly disregarded his position all in the interest of keeping his yet to be claimed mate safe! Before reality of acting like a spoiled child crashed down upon him, he had acted like a pup and not the composed omega his mother taught him to be! Ashamed of how he had behaved he had begged for some quiet alone time for some reflection, that was two hours ago! His father had suggested the river edge and exclaimed the flowing water would help, he just reminded baekhyun to keep his hood up and to trust his instincts should the air around him not be that of just nature.

Your safety will always proceed my position as supreme alpha little one. I will always make sure you are safe!

Baekhyun doesn't suppress his gasp of relief as his consciousness is flooded with that confident strong presence of his mate. He whirls around from the river expecting to feel that powerful all consuming force behind him. He instantly deflates when he doesn't see Chanyeol's magnificent wolf just on the riverside, he does however hear the familiar hurried footsteps of his mother as he calls out.

"Baekhyun my moon child come back to our resting area, Kai and your father have caught some fish for supper!

Yes my precious moon child head back to the others, we will be reunited soon

Beakhyun is relieved he can not feel any pain or discomfort from his mate, he understands what Chanyeol was doing now, something or someone unsavoury must of spooked Chanyeol enough to have him, and the others launch a full scale hunt. Now all he has to do is apologise to his mate and the others for acting like a spoiled child. Perhaps he will be able to redeem himself by insisting he prepare their suppers, an idea of what to prepare forming in his mind as he spies fresh fungi growing on the riverbank. He smiles when he feels a hand on his head and is presented with a blade he had no idea his mother was carrying, he cant help but giggle when his mother holds his finger to lips in a clear don't tell your father act as they both gather the fungi.

Ten minutes later he and his mother reach the edge of the area Jongdae proclaimed as safe enough for them to wait, both having used some of their cloaks to carry the mushrooms they scavenged back for their supper. When those familiar pheromones assault his senses, causing the hairs on the back of his neck to rise and his heartbeat to speed up. Rounding the line of trees blocking their resting spot he comes face to face with the man that has stolen his heart, instead of his majestic wolf form he stands in his regal and handsome human form. A sight that even has his own wolf wagging his tail and practically purring. Baekhyun doesn't wait and simply drops his hoard of mushrooms, before heading straight in to the open arms of his mate, instant relief and calmness envelops him at being reunited with his mate.

Before he forgets him self, Beakhyun takes a step away from the warm embrace of his mate, scanning the area he can see everyone is here, his father, Kai and Tao back in their human forms. Relief course through him at everyone is safe and the tense atmosphere of watching Chanyeol is long gone, not he takes a deep breath and releases a flow of pheromones that he hopes captures everyone's attention. It takes seconds for everyone to look at him in confusion save for his mother who he can see nod his head knows exactly what he is about to do! With all eyes on him he brings his hands together, before holding out his arms with his hands clasped he bows at a ninety degree angle.

"My precious star what are you doing, why are you bowing"

"I am asking for everyone's forgiveness, Supreme Alpha!"

"Baekhyun my star, you do not have to apologise for anything, your reaction was natural, it is i who am sorry. I had to act quickly i believed we were being followed and had to act for everyone's safety. It was a false alarm!'

Baekhyun still remains with his head bowed, he still isn't happy with how he reacted and is truthfully afraid Chanyeol will think he is too young and inexperienced to be the mate of a supreme alpha. There must be more suitable matches within the clans, one who has been trained in how to behave as a consort should.

My precious star, do you remember our moment in the meadow earlier we are destined to be mates, nothing on this earth not even our blessed moon gods can keep me from you.

It's the wave of comfort that Chanyeol sends through their link that has him finally raise himself from his bow, what he finds when he is brave enough to open his eyes are faces with filled with pride and respect. His mother has tears in his eyes and his father is clasping  him tightly in an embrace with a proud smile. Before he can realise what is happening, he feels a large warm hand lift his own, his heartbeat pounding in his ears when a soft kiss is placed on the back of his hand. His cheeks heating when he hears laughing over the yip he released. Even his alpha has a mischievous glint to his eyes, before he notices how those deep dark orbs take on an altogether different emotion. One that has his own insides squirming even as large hand continues to stroke his hand creating magic between them!

You are beyond adorable my precious star!

Their magical moment ending when, Baekhyun's stomach growls, bringing out another round of laughter of everyone. The once quiet area soon a hive of activity as everyone seems to jump into action and the sound of pleasant conversation overtakes the silence.

Four Hours Later
Baekhyun turns over once again, releasing a huff as he opens his eyes, the excitement of camping has quickly worn off! He had hoped sleeping under the stars and the waning crescent of the moon would be a more pleasant experience, that he would be able to shift into his wolf to experience nature at its finest. It spoke volumes to him when everyone had stopped him, his instincts telling him perhaps there is more to this false alarm then he so being told. At least he was able to use his cloak as barrier between his clothes and the ground, the fire they used to cook their supper still has the embers burnings to keep everyone warm. He may be warm but he is not comfortable, as he sits up and surveys the area around him. His parents huddled together sleep behind him, to his left is Jongdae, Kai and Tao in wolf form sleep further away again in the style of an outer ring of protection.

He is not so blind bad to know this is a strategic move, there is at least 5 steps between each sleeping body. Baekhyun knows they slew in wolf form as their reflexes will be sharper, should anything be a miss there is plenty of time for each of them to act. Perhaps he can ask Chanyeol to teach him some self defence moves, you should be sleeping little one! Baekhyun takes a deep breath at the soothing presence of his mate communicating through their link! It's not as pleasant as I thought camping would be.

I know my precious star, you should be tucked up in a w duck feather duvet.

Alpha I do not need such extravagance, I would be more comfortable if I could shift

I know my love, but you are special and away from the protection of the temple and we are to far from my pack for them to reach you should something happen.

Baekhyun closes his eyes to see if he can sense exactly where his mate is, turning his head he can sense that earthy pine scent of his mate is stronger just to his right. Grabbing his cloak he uses his petite nature to his advantage and heads to the edge of the clearing to find his mate standing under the light of the moon. It's a breathtaking sight, Chanyeol's skin almost twinkles in the moonlight, even under the starlight Chanyeol screams pure power, he truly can't believe they are destined to be mates. He feels it now that pull between them, it cackles with their tension. It's rude to stare mon child Baekhyun can feel the heat on his cheeks rise and instantly lowers his head at being caught staring. I'm sorry alpha.

You do not need to apologise for looking at what belongs to you moon child! Before Baekhyun can answer, those powerful pheromones invade his senses, before he can move his head that warm hand gently lifts his chin up. The potency of those pheromones have him whimpering and reluctant to open his eyes, until the hand on his chin gently strokes his chin forcing him to open his eyes! You are beautiful moon child, tell me you feel the pull between our hearts! All Baekhyun can do is nod, the proximity of Chanyeol being so close and the intensity of those raw pheromones are making him feel strange, he's tingling all over. Soon my precious star we truly belong to each other, the feelings you have that's your body starting to prepare you for me.

I'm ready now Alpha my heart and soul is yours Baekhyun doesn't get chance to react as all he feels are hot large hands suddenly resting on his ass! All he can do is watch as those deep soulful eyes darken with lust! The low rumbling growl Chanyeol releases causes heat to explode all over his body, heat he doesn't get to react too as Chanyeol's lips capture his own, all he can do is hold on as to Chanyeol muscled shoulders as he dips him back in a passionate kiss the moon starting to shine blue above them! He is so caught up in the kiss he doesn't notice the yellow cat like eyes watching them from afar.
