(Prepare for cringe near the end! Don't say I didn't warn you!)

School was extra boring today. We still had a substitute for english and of course the class just had to be extra annoying. By lunch my head was already killing me.
"You okay?" Hosuku asked as we sat in the oval.
"Yes. My class is just stupid. Anyway, did you invite anyone from your class yet?" I asked.
"Yeah, I invited one guy now everyone's coming. We can just split from the group when the fireworks start." He said.
I nodded and we continued eating.

"Do you want to wear my kimono from when I was younger? It should fit you." My adoptive mother asked about an hour before I was supposed to go to the festival.
"Is that okay?" I said excitedly. I'd never worn a kimono before.
"Of course sweetie! I'll help you get it on and do your hair!!" She said just as excited as me. She had told me a while ago that she'd always wanted a daughter but couldn't.
The kimono was very plain with a simple flower pattern but it was nice. It had mostly darker colours. I twirled around and my mum clapped.
"Your so pretty! Hosuku will be absolutely entranced~!" She teased, I felt my face's heat rise, "Now let's make your hair really cute~!!"
"Thanks so much for this, mum. Really." I thanked her and she smiled.
"Sit," mum motioned to the floor, "Now, I'm going to school you in the ways of romance. Firstly, be yourself. Hosuku is a good boy and sees you for you. Remember that."
Mum knows about me just only being together with Hosuku because he asked because of his situation.
"I know mum. Thanks... I want to confess tonight. You think I can?" My voice cracked a little. Mum pulled my hair into a bun. We didn't really have any hair accessories so my basic hair style matched my plain kimono.
"Don't worry. Just don't over think it." Mum turned me around. She got out some foundation, light pink lipstick and matching blush. She didn't do the make up to heavy because I usually didn't wear it.
"There, so pretty. Now you should hurry along." Mum said bye and sent me on my way. I walked listening to clip-clop of my shoes. I could see the lights from the festival.
"Y/n!" Hosuku called as I neared a big group of people. I sighed a sigh of relief when I wasn't the only girl wearing a kimono.
"Hey. Sorry if I'm late." I said.
"Nah. Shall I introduce you to everyone?" Hosuku smiled while gesturing to the group of teens who must've been his classmates.
"Sure!"
"Hey guys! This is Y/n!" He called.
A lot of the girls glanced at me. Their eyes felt like daggers in the back of my skull.
"It's lovely to meet you all." I bowed at them in greeting.
"Nice catch Hosuku. It's nice to meet you too!" One of the guys said chucking an arm around Hosuku.
"Get off. Should we walk around before the stalls before the fireworks start?" Hosuku suggested. Everyone agreed. All the girls gathered around Hosuku and took him away from me. I was left strangling behind with the guys. They were really nice. I hadn't participated in a lot of the game stalls here and they taught me how to play them. While walking around I didn't get much time with Hosuku. We really only waved at each other from other sides of the festival.
"The fireworks are starting! Let's meet up with the others!" One of the guys said. We walked over to the others. I clawed my way to Hosuku.
"Jeez, so many people..." I said once I was next to him.
"Let's go up there." Hosuku pointed up to a hill a little ways away. He grabbed my hand and pulled me through the crowd of people.

After a few minutes of walking we finally made it up the hill. There was a tree in the hill that I lend against to catch my breath.
"They're starting!" Hosuku pointed to the dark sky. I looked up and the first firework was pink. The next was blue, then yellow, then rainbow. Hosuku turned to face me with a smile. I smiled back. Then I realised how perfect this moment was. This was the moment in shojo manga when someone would confess. My face turned pink, I felt it.
"H-Hosuku.." I stuttered.
"Yeah?" He said making the word longer then needed.
"Okay, I'm going to do this... I-I am going to be completely serious." I stuttered again. But why? Was I scared? If what? Rejection? Oh god what if he rejects me... Will our friendship falter..?
"Okay. I'll be serious back then." Hosuku turned to me, still smiling.
"Thanks... I can do this. Hosuku. I have a crush on you. Like, forever." I didn't stutter but I did half whisper everything. I looked down on at my feet and grabbed the sides of my outfit.
"Really. Seriously?" He grabbed my shoulders and was in complete shock.
"Did I not just say I was going to be serious?" I was a little irritated by his response.
"Haha, sorry. I know. I'm serious too. I've liked you for years. Probably longer then you." He scratched the back of head sheepishly.
"Oh, you think you've liked me longer than I've liked you? Haha! You wish!" I said.
"Haha, really? I've liked you since we were 10!" He argued.
"Oh, you wanna fight over this now?" I said and placed my hands on my hips.
We both started laughing. Then we kind of trailed off laughter and the happy vibe to an awkward one.
"So we're officially going out now? Like we are not just doing it to get paid of my back about it?" Hosuku asked.
"I suppose... Oh god, this so awkward, haha." I laughed awkwardly.
"Yep! So then... Oh right! Mum wants to know if I can stay over!" He said as the thought got him.
"Well, yeah. You can always stay over when ever." I said obviously.
Hosuku smiled. He grabbed my hand and looked up at the fireworks. I followed his eyes to the dark sky being lit up with multi-coloured fireworks and stars.
"Beautiful... Almost as pretty as me!" Hosuku joked. I punched his arm playfully.
"But they're no match for my beauty~!" I hair flipped as assaults as I could. A fit of laughter emerged from our easily amused selves.
We both turned back to face the sky. Just as we looked, a pink, heart shaped firework exploded. I watched it with a smile crawling onto my face. Hosuku leaned down to my cheek and pecked me with his soft lips. I was cought by surprise and recoiled from him out of embarrassment.
"Not good?" Hosuku asked.
"No, no not at all! I loved it!" I panicked hoping not to offend.
Hosuku laughed. He pulled me on closer. I knew what he was going to do and hesitated. His face came closed again and he closed his brown eyes. His lips made contact with mine. It was a brief kiss but it was the best moment of my life, so far.
"Oh wow..." I said once we parted.
"In sorry if it was no good, was my first." He laughed a little.
"No! It was even better then when you kissed my cheek!! And it was my first kiss as well!" I said.
We both stared at each other awkwardly again.
"The fireworks are over so we should head to your home." Hosuku said. I nodded and we walked down the hill, hand in hand. We didn't bother to meet back up with his class.
A cold breeze flew by as we walked down the road to my house. I shivered and Hosuku put one of his wings around, pulling me closer to him.
I leaned against Hosuku as we walked. With my ear against his shoulder, I could slightly hear his heart beat. Thump, thump, thump. It became a pattern that I felt at ease to.
We got to the house faster then I wanted to. Mum opened the door surprised to see Hosuku there as well.
On the way to my room, mum pulled me to the side.
"So~?" She said.
"...Yeah I confessed." I whispered still a little flustered from it.
"Ah! I'm so happy for you~" She half yelled.
"Y/n? Where'd you go?" Hosuku voice called from my room. Mum sent me away with a wink.
