I waited outside Yuuei for Hosuku's entrance exam to end. Mine was a few days earlier and was only a written exam while his was a written exam and a physical exam. I was just scrolling on my phone while sitting on a bench just outside the school. It had already been an hour and it was around lunch time.
Kids started coming out the building and I spotted a familiar pair of red wings. He flew up and over all the kids and they watched in awe.
"Damn, I'm dead beat." He complained.
"Lets go get something to eat then!" I punched the air enthusiastically.
Hosuku laughed and we headed to the closest KFC and I noticed he had a bit of a limp with his left foot.

"Oh what luck that you guys are here!" Kai said and pulled a chair to the small table Hosuku and I were sitting at. He put his food down as well implying that he was going to join us for lunch.
"Hey Kai. I just finished my Yuuei exam." Hosuku conversed happily with Kai while I sat quietly eating.
They talked for a while before my mum messaged saying I had to come home.
"I gotta go." I got up and put my rubbish away.
"I'll walk you." Hosuku said since he'd finished food as well. Kai was still eating and just waved.

"You've hurt yourself haven't you?" I said walking a little ahead of Hosuku.
"What? No." He lied looking to the side and putting his hands in his pockets.
"Sit!" I turned around and pointed to a bench. Hosuku started to argue but I just glared and he complied.
He pulled up his left pant leg to reveal a cut bandaged roughly bandaged.
"Wasn't there a nurse or something you could've gone to?" I took off the bandage.
"Yeah, but other people were more hurt then me so I just left." He looked at his leg as I had a quick assessment of how bad it was.
"Does it hurt a lot?" I pressed a finger near the cut and he winced.
"Not that much." He looked to the side again.
"Sure sure." I got a small first aid kit out my bag. I always had one because Hosuku is always getting hurt trying to help people. People would always say it's weird but I don't care.
"Thanks, I really should've been more careful. Didn't expect it to be so intense I guess." He said after I finished a basic cleaning and covering of his wound.
"Get your mum to deal with it properly." I brushed off my knees and got up as did Hosuku.
"Thanks again. I owe you." He smiled and I started to walk away to hide the blush crawling onto my face.

"Y/n! You got a letter, from Yuuei!" My dad called as soon as he came home from work.
"Yuuei?!" I burst from my room.
I ran back in and slammed my door. Vigorously, I ripped it open and a piece of paper slowly fell onto my desk.
I skimmed it over a few times before squealing on joy. Yuuei wasn't just known for its hero course but also its general and business course and you had be pretty smart even to get into the general course.
My phone buzzed and I picked it up.

Kai
>You got your letter?
>I got in!

The conversation didn't go any further so I kind of stared at my phone awkwardly waiting for him say more. I think he wasn't expecting me to get in and wanted to support me in my sadness or something. Time to message Hosuku~!

I put my phone down and went to our to the kitchen for dinner.

~High school~

"Y/N! Hurry up, you'll be late!" Mum shook me awake and I looked at the clock. 7:45 am.
"Shit!" Mum gave me a glare at my curse word but didn't say anything.
It could take a while for me to get ready sometimes but this morning I was faster then a cheetah. I spent an extra second looking at myself in the Yuuei uniform. It was cute and I thought it matched my e/c eyes.
I ran out the house with a half eaten protein bar. Hosuku was waiting outside and only gave a confused look on greeting. He joined me in running to the train station.
"I really thought I wasn't gonna get in the train..." I sighed in relief.
Hosuku and I sat down on the train next to each other.
"Y/n, I actually thought you weren't gonna make it at all, haha!" He laughed and I playfully punched his shoulder.

At the next stop, Kai just happened to get into the same train cart as me and Hosuku.
"Oh, hey guys." He sat next to me even though there was a seat next to Hosuku. 'Fuck off...' is what I wanted to say but I hated being too rude so I said nothing, not even a greeting.
He and Hosuku talked as if I wasn't also there. At one point, Hosuku could see the annoyance in my face and decided to tease.
"I didn't even think Y/n would get into Yuuei to be honest, haha!" I could tell he was teasing from the quick smirk in my direction.
"That's mean, she's really smart!" Kai defended as if I really wasn't there. He quickly changed the subject back to talking about himself which gave me even more reasons to want to punch him right now.
We finally arrived at our collective stop and filed off the train with the other passengers. I took a deep breath outside the gates of Yuuei. Truth be told, I was just hoping that all the courses got to spend break together and I wasn't in Kai's class.
