~Elementary school~

"Y/n! Did you watch Endeavour's fight on tv last night?? He was so cool!" My red winged friend, Hosuku, said as he ran up to me holding his Endeavor figure.
"Yeah, he's so strong!" I smiled back to him.
We were only kids so we only had one aspiration, to be a hero. Even though my quirk hadn't formed yet, I still wanted to be one.

(A few years later)

I strolled down the path happily to my elementary school while kicking a small pebble. It was my last day as a elementary school student so I was extra excited.
"Y/n! Mornin'" A chill voice said as he flew down from the sky.
"Haha, hello Mr. Show-off~" I teased.
Hosuku landed and started to walk next to me. He radiated relaxation and I was slowly starting to feel calm myself just being next to him.
"How is your new family?" Hosuku asked.
"Eh, they'll probably get rid of me like the last people. I just wanna get my own house and not have to deal with so many fake people, ya' know?" I answered. Both me and Hosuku we're orphans, me from birth and him after an accident. (I don't know ok don't hate plz)
"Yeah..." He sighed with a nod.
We walked into class and, almost instantly, a paper ball flew over my head. It was clearly intended to hit me.
"Quirkless! Haha!" Someone yelled.
I sighed. No matter how much I wanted to punch whoever threw that, I couldn't. I need good grades and a good report to get into the middle school I was aiming for. People were always saying I was so mature but I really just wanted to go to the same school as Hosuku, my best friend and secret crush.

School ended after the assembly.
"Hey, wanna come over tonight? The new mum's making chicken." Hosuku kicked the same rock I was kicking this morning walking to school.
"Nah sorry. My new family wants to do some 'bonding' thing." I said sadly.
"Ok, well, imma fly~ see ya'!" Hosuku's red wings flapped and he took flight.
I waved and walked away, to my new home.

~Middle school~

"Hosuku~ this is too hard!" I whined as I sat in Hosuku's room. We were studying for mock exams for Yuuei, our dream high school. Although, he wanted to do the hero course and I wanted to do the general course.
"Yeah, let's take a break," He stretches his arms and wings, "'bout we ask Kai if he wants to join us at KFC?"
"Yeah but that's cannibalism. You shouldn't eat your own kind." I said half serious.
"Haha, that's not funny anymore." He smiled his cute, dopey smile. He made me feel all giddy and happy when I was with him.
Ping!
My phone's notification went off. I checked it and sighed. My new 'family' wanted me back for family time.
"Uuurrrggghhhhh. I gotta go. Sorry." I whined overdramaticly.
"It's okay. I'm should actually study some more stuff. Bye~" He smiled again and I wanted to keep that face captured forever. Wow, creepy much?
"Bye miss!" I called to Hosuku's adoptive mother. She hummed in response.
I walked slowly around Hosuku's house and heard my name yelled from the house. Hosuku was hanging out a window waving at me.
"Didn't you say you'd study or something?" I called back.
"Yeah yeah. Just be safe!" He called and I turned around and waved.

I sat on my bed thinking about nothing and not being able to sleep when my phoned buzzed.

Chicken nugget

I smiled at my phone as I chucked it onto my bedside table. My face was probably really pink right now while I clutched my pillow.
"Y/n? Are you still up?" My latest father called from outside my room.
"Sorry, my phone. I'll put it on silent!" I called back.
"Okay, sleep now."
"Right, good night!" I pulled my covers over me.
My phoned vibrated right as I turned my phone onto vibrate.

I waited for a good while before I got a response.

I felt bad that I couldn't support my best friend right now. It was so unfair that I couldn't know exactly what he was thinking and what I should do.
I rested uneasily that night.

"Mornin'~" I relaxed voice said.
I opened my eyes slowly and a face started form.
"Hosuku? Why you here?" I got out of bed with a yawn.
"Mmm, I woke up early and your mum let me in." He said with a smile.
"Well get out, I gotta get ready..." I said still asleep.
"Aw, let me help~" Hosuku teased and I pushed him out the door.
