Chapter III: Wind Tribe - Part 3
I am back guys!
======================================
Third Person's POV
Walking around the village, Yona stops when she hears someone talking. "Rina-chan, did you sleep well last night? Hey, Rina-chan!"
She quickly turns around, not used to her fake name being called. "Oh, yes."
Right, Rina is me...
"You're such an absent-minded girl. I heard you were thrown out of the castle. They said you couldn't cook, sew, clean, do laundry, play the koto, or even dance, and that it was Ruri-chan who helped you with it!" She laughs, continuing, "Don't worry. I'll teach you everything from scratch."
The woman pushes a pile of clothes into her hands. "First, wash these."
"W-Wash them?"
"I'll leave them to you."
Looking at the pile helplessly, she exclaims, "U-Uh..."
Just then, someone takes most of it away, and she looks back to find Hak leading her to the river. "'This way, my lady."
She pouts but follows him, rushing over. "What is it?" He asks when he notices her pout.
"I can play the koto and dance a little, and Ruri-chan doesn't even do anything except for sleeping and jumping around!"
"Oh, right. That cacophony."
She looks down unhappily, cursing Hak inside.
"You're a bit more like yourself." Hearing his words, she looks up. "Huh?"
"Nothing."
They remain silent for a moment before Yona said, "So, you have a younger brother. He's so cute, nothing like you."
"Sorry about that. Grandpa took Tae-Yeon in, just like me. Unlike me, he's frail. That's why everyone's especially nice to him. He got a bit too excited yesterday. We're here. We wash clothes in that river." He adds, putting the clothes onto the wooden table by the side.
"That water is the Wind Tribe's life, so be careful with–"
"Hak, I can't."
He sighs, "You haven't done anything yet."
"But..."
He walks over to her side, gasping, shocked. "The river's dried up..."
Yona looks at it with slight fear, feeling that this has something to do with her.
Ruri's POV
Waking up to the sound of people talking, I sit up immediately, looking around. "Wait, where am I?" I mumble, taking the mask off slightly to rub my eyes.
"Oh, right, I am next to a dried-up river." I continue, jumping off the tree and walks towards Yona and Hak. "...the conditions upriver." Hak orders, and one of the men argues, "Young lord, this isn't the time to be so leisurely!"
"Making a fuss won't fix anything. For now, we can buy water from the merchants. They should have enough reserves to see us through the current situation."
Hearing a horse, I look back to find an old man with one eye closed coming over.
"Elder Mun-Deok has returned!"
"Grandpa!" Hak exclaims, and Mun-Deok looks on as Yona runs over to him. "Hime-Sama..." He mumbles, hugging her tightly. "You're all right. Thank goodness."
Hearing his words, tears flooded Yona's eyes. "I didn't want to believe it, but when I heard the Emperor was dead, and you'd left the castle with Hak...I'm sorry I couldn't protect you then!"
He hugs her even tighter, and she said, "Mun-Deok...I can't breathe."
Mun-Deok quickly releases her, looking at her. "Have you lost weight?"
"No, I've received many warm and delicious things to eat. The Wind Tribe is like you, Mun-Deok. It's warm and relaxing here." She smiles, letting Mun-Deok pat her head.
"And also half-blind, One-eyed-san." I add in, appearing between them and get a knock on the forehead, but I continued, whispering, "Can't they recognise hime-sama's red hair?"
"They are my people." He changes the subject, messing up my hair.
Pouting slightly, I pull back. "That's why I said they are all half-blind."
"Nii-san! Grandpa!"
Tae-Woo and Tae-Yeon rush over, and Tae-Woo said, "Han-Dae is back."
We walk over to the blonde boy sitting on the ground, letting a woman clean his wounds.
"Han-Dae, your injuries..."
"What happened?"
He scratches the back of his head, chuckling a bit, "I messed up...I went upriver, and would you believe it...some guys from the Fire Tribe were damming it up. I thoughtlessly picked a fight with the guys, but they were armed. They beat the snot out of me."
Looking at Mun-Deok's face, I shake my head slightly and walk away silently, knowing that I can't interfere with any of this.
After all, if I interfered, things will not go as how they are supposed to go.
Third Person's POV
Yona hugs herself inside her room, feeling helpless.
Soo-Won will ascend the throne. The other clans approved. What will happen to the Wind Tribe?
Just then, the door slides open, and Tae-Yeon asks cheerfully, "Rina..."
He rushes over to her side, asking, "What's wrong? Are you hungry? It's time for dinner."
She looks up, saying guiltily, "There's not enough water, but you're giving me so much."
"It's okay. Hak told me to fatten you up. Besides, Hak said the Wind Clan's way is to pamper guests so they'll give us money–" He said breathlessly, pulling Yona up and before he can take her out, he falls down, breathing heavily.
"Tae-Yeon? Tae-Yeon!?"
Hearing her shouts, Mun-Deok and Hak run in, and Hak asks worriedly, "What's wrong?"
"He suddenly collapsed!"
Mun-Deok kneels down, touching Tae-Yeon's forehead, explaining, "He's having an attack. Tae-Yeon's lungs have always been weak. Sometimes, he gets respiratory paralysis. Once he takes his medicine, he'll be fine."
"But the merchants who were supposed to bring medicine today haven't come yet."
"I'll go check it out." Tae-Won said, about to go out when a man comes in, exclaiming, "It's an emergency! The merchants were attained on their way here!"
"No!"
"They're all seriously injured."
Yona looks at them shockingly, realising that her existence here has caused all these problems.
"Then we've lost our means of acquiring water?"
"The medicine...what about Tae-Yeon's medicine?" Yona asks, holding the sick boy.
"Damn it."
Two other people come over, and the young woman complains, "This must be the Fire Tribe's work!"
"I'll never forgive them!"
"Young lord, why aren't you saying anything?"
"This isn't like you, Elder."
Mun-Deok ignores their complains, thinking deeply as he looks at his adopted grandson.
The royal family stands behind the Fire Tribe.
If we antagonize them, the Wind Tribe won't escape unscathed.
Hak thinks, trying to come up with a way to solve this problem.
Hugging Tae-Yeon closer, Yona bites her lower lip, desperate.
No...I don't want to see anyone else die."
Feeling someone pat her head, she looks up to find Han-Dae smiling at her with bandages all around him.
"Han-Dae, your injuries..."
"Okay, okay! Calm down, you hot-blooded idiots!" He grins, causing Tae-Woo to scold, "You attacked them first."
"The most important thing right now is Tae-Yeon's medicine, isn't it? I'll go to the doctor in the eastern forest and get some medicine." He explains, standing up.
"You're going all the way there, with those injuries?"
"I'm the fastest rider in the Wind Clan. You okay with that, young lord? Leave it to Han-Dae!" He smiles, giving Hak a thumbs-up.
Hak is shocked for a while before smirking, "Haggle down the price of the medicine."
"I'm off!" He exclaims, turning around to run out when he feels an ominous presence.
Looking down, he takes a few steps back, stammering, "Wh-What's wrong, Ruri-chan?"
The girl takes out a dagger out of nowhere, saying coldly, "Oh, nothing, just going to cut off your hand for touching hi–Rina-san's head. Don't worry, you will be going to see a doctor after all."
"N-No thanks, Ruri-chan!" Han-Dae jumps slightly, running past her.
"Blondie-san, come back right now!" Ruri stomps her foot, running after him.
"No way!"
Watching them run off, Mun-Deok sighs, "He's so reckless, and Ruri...I don't even know what to say about her."
Hak turns around, ordering, "Listen, everyone. I understand your rage, but the Fire Tribe is strong. I won't let you start a war with them now. I promise I'll do something about this. Just because the river dried up, it's not like us to shrivel up. Entrust your lives to me, and wait quietly. Those are the orders of Son Hak, Chief of the Wind Clan."
"Did you hear that?"
"The young lord gave us orders."
"Hak-sama..."
"The Hak-sama who said becoming a general would be too much work..."
Outside the room, Ruri shakes her head slightly. "Even though that kid didn't do anything except for touching hime-sama, he did make Beast-San feel better."
Feeling the wind hit her head, she pouts, "Even though he is taller than me, I am still older than him! Well, whatever, I guess I can help him a bit. After all, no one said anything about not allowed to cause things go quicker, right?"
End of this chapter! Sorry this is almost 24 hours later than what I have promised. I slept too late waiting for my brother to give me his souvenir for me from his graduation trip.
