Interlude of the Palettes

Many thanks to Fire for encouraging me to write this interlude, anyway, this one is important because we catch up with Palette, both of them, and Shell makes another appearance!

Anyway, Fire has left a few snippets that she wrote herself in this interlude, feel free to try and find them!

Ever since Gothy had saved him, he had been having weird dreams, of a Palette hanging out with a Fell Goth, but there was always this feeling that he was only seeing one side of a story, one that he did not know about.

He had seen this Palette in other dreams too, on his own, looking for someone.

But this dream was different, he was actually looking at this Palette, they had been separated by a barrier of some kind, but they could still hear each other.

"Who are you?" He asked.

"Me? I should be asking you that? Who are you?"

"Palette Roller."

"Really? That's my name."

"It's mine too."

"Maybe we should do what Gothy and Fell Goth do, use Nicknames to tell each other apart." The second Palette said. "I'm Truth."

"Then, I'll go by Seeker. I have a personal reason for that."

"Okay, I won't ask what that is." Truth said. "Although, I do have a question."

"What is it?" Seeker asked.

"Why does your Magic feel just like mine?" Truth asked. "There should be a small difference between our Magics but you feel just like me..."

"I don't know." Seeker said. "And that scares me, how is this possible?

"I don't know, but considering what has happened recently, this is not the weirdest thing that has happened to me."

"Really?" Seeker asked, reaching up to mess with his scarf, only to remember that he didn't have it anymore.

"Yeah, the weirdest thing to happen to me was Gothy being taken in front of Mr.Geno..."

"Your Goth was taken too?!" Seeker yelled.

"What?! Your Goth was taken as well?!"

"Yeah, it happened two years ago!"

Truth was worried. "Something is not right here. Our Goths were taken at the same time, in front of Mr.Geno, two years ago and we share the same Magic, how is this possible?"

"I don't know...." Seeker said. "And now, Mr.Reaper has gone missing too..."

"Your Mr.Reaper is missing?" Truth asked. "But mine is okay, I saw him yesterday."

"What the heck is going on here?" Seeker asked. "I just want my Gothy back...."

"Me too. I would really like to know why he's dressing up like a Fell Goth when he wants to see me."

"Wait!" Seeker was surprised. "You're seen your Gothy after he went missing?!"

"A few times, how about you?" Truth sat down, facing Seeker.

"I have seen him twice." Seeker sat down, facing Truth. "I bumped into him once, Gothy was carrying a lot of books, and the second time, he saved me from a group that hates Dad.

Gothy carried me to the apartment that he was using and he treated my wounds before he disappeared again, but I managed to get him to take my scarf with him."

"Wait, he carried you, but isn't Goth shorter then us?" Truth asked.

"He had a growth spurt. He's taller then me now, as in 'beanpole' tall." Seeker blushed.

"That makes sense actually, mine grew a bit too." Truth looked at Seeker's blush. "Did something happen?"

Seeker whined and he hid his face with his hands, muttering something.

"Seeker?"

"I said that he was hot, okay?!"

Truth frowned, before he blushed. "As in the 'He's cute' variety, or the 'Oh no, he's hot' variety?"

"The second one." Seeker said.

Truth thought for a few minutes of what Seeker's Goth would look like, before he blushed. He couldn't help but to think of his Gothy, who was still in the first variety, but if what Seeker said was true.....

"We're so screwed." He eventually said.

"Yes, we are." Seeker said. "But, it's what we deserve, I mean... I kept on friend zoning my Goth, and I didn't really see that he liked me more than a friend...."

"You love your Goth too, don't you?" Truth asked. "I didn't realise that I loved mine until he was taken..."

"I do." Seeker said. "And I won't stop until I find him. I have to make things right, I have to tell him that I love him so much."

Truth smiled. "Yeah. My Gothy is so cute when he pouts."

"You should see mine when he falls asleep while he is reading a book." Seeker smiled.

"Mine's a cuddlebug, especially to Mr.Geno." Truth smiled. "He's a Mama's boy."

"You can practically feel when mine is happy, he loves cuddles and hugs." Seeker smiled. "But he loves it the most when he gets to spend time with Mr.Reaper, he's a Daddy's boy. He loves it when Mr.Reaper flies with him."

"Wow! This is interesting." Both of them jumped up when they heard that voice. "Dad?!"

"Not really." The Ink said. "I am an Ink but not the one that you know. I come from a different Multiverse. You two can call me Shell."

"Like we call each other Seeker and Truth?" Truth asked.

Shell nodded his head. "Now, normally, I wouldn't be in the Dreamscape like this, but I need to give you guys a warning. Be careful. You have heard of Fate right?"

"Mr.Geno hates Fate." Seeker said.

"Well, I can understand that." Shell said. "Because they often turn Genos into Errors, but it was different this time, they took someone else, but this isn't about Fate, I'm here to warn you about Fear."

"Fear?" Truth asked. "As in the Deity?"

"Yes." Shell said. "Because he will come after you."

"Why?" Seeker asked. "Why would he come after us? And I have a question, why are you talking like we are one skeleton, instead of two separate skeletons, sometimes?"

"Because you are." Shell said. "You're two sides of the same coin. The only other pair that I have ever seen like you two so far, are Shades and Searcher."

"Who are they?" Truth asked.

"They're Goths." Shell said. "And I have seen them recently, one is a beanpole with two scarfs and the other one is an cinnamon roll."

"Two scarfs?" Seeker asked. "Was one of them brown with paint splatters?"

"Yes?"

"That's my Gothy!"

"Wait!" Shell looked between the two Palettes. "You're Searcher's and Shades's Pallys?!"

"When was the last time that you saw them?!" Truth asked. "Please, tell us... Is Gothy okay?"

"Well, Shades is mostly okay." Shell said. "He's the Cinnamon Roll Goth, but it's Searcher that I'm worried about."

"My Gothy?" Seeker asked.

"Yeah... Look, I'm going to be honest with you two." Shell looked nervous. "During the two years that they were missing, both of them went through something horrible, something that has left scars on them, even to this day, and while Shades seems to have mostly readjusted and healed from it, Searcher has a long way to go....

He may look stable externally, but internally, he is very unstable. The wrong move, action or even word could cause him to shatter. Shades, and their shared goal, are the only things keeping him stable, and the most important thing that you need to know about it, sane. His mind is one step away from breaking apart, and if he does crack, well, it would be bad."

"Then, what can I do to help?" Seeker asked.

"Just be there for him." Shell said. "Because, right now, he needs a friend. Shades can only do so much, and while Searcher is getting fatherly affection from someone who understands what he has been through, it doesn't help to fill the gap left behind by his Reaper. He needs you to be there for him, and that can include you staying out of trouble and not making him worry about you."

"He's worried about me?" Seeker asked.

"He doesn't say anything about it, but he is worried about you." He turned to Truth. "And while Shades is more stable then Searcher, he is a bit unstable himself, just continue to be there for him, and just let him continue to hang out around you as a Fell Goth, but I have a feeling that will change..."

"What do you mean by that?" Truth asked.

"Spoilers." Shell said.

"Did you just make a Doctor Who reference?" Seeker asked.

"Maybe..." Shell said, he was smirking.

"You're a troll, aren't you?" Truth asked.

"Well, at least I'm giving you guys answers." Shell said, before he turned to Seeker again. "Just keep your Ink from tipping the balance and that should help Searcher a lot."

"Balance?" Both of the Palettes asked.

Shell sighed. "Just think of your Multiverses as Video Game inventories, with a limited amount of storage and once you have filled up the inventory, you can't add anything else, or you could destroy the inventory."

Seeker looked like that he was going to be sick, because if his Dad didn't know about that, then that meant...

"Error is the one that makes sure that doesn't happen?" He asked.

"Yes." Shell said. "If an Multiverse is too full and overcrowded, then it collapses, destroying itself. Error makes sure that doesn't happen, he was created to stop that after your Multiverse was nearly destroyed because of that Seeker. Your Fate stopped it by doing a Multiversal Reset, and then, she created Error to make sure that never happened again."

-meanwhile in multiple Multiverses Error gives Inky and Fate the finger-

Seeker looked sick, because, all this time, nearly everyone hated Error for something that wasn't his fault, for something that he couldn't control, and it was all his Dad's fault!

"He is not the one responsible for this Seeker." Shell said. "And Creation can not be stopped, because if there is not enough AUs in a Multiverse, then it can collapse and destroy itself. You need to slow your Ink down."

-Twenty Multiverses away, Error grinned, he had stopped Inky for three months now.

Inky just couldn't win at this, and Inky wanted to win.

"UNO!" Error cackled.. hey, at least this was keeping the balance, and it was hilarious-

"Why do I need to slow my Dad down?" Seeker asked. "What does this have to do with my Gothy?"

"Let's just say, that for now, his mental state is connected to that Balance." Shell said. "And if that Balance is disrupted, then it could positively or negatively affect his mind, making it easier or harder for him to snap, and we don't have the time to figure out how to get the positive affect on purpose. The longer that you can stop your Error from having to destroy AUs and copies to fix the balance, the more mentally stable Searcher will be."

-Fate sighed, and they added another bandage to the wall between themselves and their split. This was not suppose to happen, their negative self was totally out of it. Fear was so going down, even if they had to go down there themselves, and strangle them-

"Wait, why are we two sides of the same coin?" Truth asked.

"I'll have to borrow the model that Searcher made for this." A sphere appeared in Shell's hands. "It's so simple that a Horror Sans can understand what happened!"

He held the sphere up. "Now, let's say that this is a Multiverse and something big happens, splitting it into two." He broke the sphere apart into two separate pieces. "And then these two pieces become Multiverses of their own, following the two Timelines created by the big event."

"Wait, does this mean that everyone who lived in that Multiverse was split apart too?" Truth asked.

"Yeah. One half is your Multiverse Truth, and the other half is Seeker's Multiverse." Shell said. "You two used to be the same Skeleton and your Magic will always be identical, even if your lives and your personalities are different, basically, just like Searcher and Shades, you two are twins.... But..."

"What is it?" Seeker asked.

"Your Multiverses are still connected, what happens in one, will affect the other one and their are differences between the two of them, like Searcher being taller then Shades, some AUs that exist in one Multiverse won't exist in the other one and it's the same for some of the other Skeletons that you know. Sorell doesn't exist in Shades's Multiverse, but she does exist in Searcher's Multiverse."

"Who's Sorell?" Truth asked.

"My Gothy's youngest sibling." Seeker said. "She's younger then Shino."

"And it's the same for events and how this will play out." Shell said. "Searcher's Reaper is missing but Shades's Reaper has not gone missing, he is currently being the Pancake King."

"Pancake King?" Seeker asked.

"My Mr.Reaper makes the best pancakes ever." Truth said.

"Just like my Mr.Geno. He's the Waffle Queen." Seeker said.

--Shades sneezed and he paused in his quest on how to use Inks soul to find it's essence, why did he have a feeling that someone was somehow dissing his book--

Shell laughed. "Basically, just stay out of trouble you two, and watch out for Fear."

"Because, he is the one behind everything, isn't he?" Seeker asked. "All of this, it started because of him, his actions started the chain of events that caused our Gothys to be taken from us."

Shell nodded his head.

"Why?" Truth asked. "Why did this happen to our Gothys?"

"I'm afraid that is their story to tell, not mine." Shell said. "And you two might want to hurry up and show them that you love them. They recently saw another Palette and Goth have a moment together and they're jealous.

And, you don't want to leave that until it's too late." Shell frowned. "I have a bad feeling, that, at the end of this journey, something bad is going to happen to one of them." He was looking at Seeker.

"How can you be so sure about that?" Truth asked.

"I don't know." Shell said. "Their future is unclear and we don't know how this will end, but don't leave it until it's too late or you might never have a chance again."
