CM Love: Chapter Seven
I'm gonna go back and edit this book. Honestly, it's so cringe worthy lol but I see potential and my writing has improved so much. I think I can make this into something special. I finished this chapter but it is subject to change once i finish editing the other chapters.
Chapter 7:
"Selly!" Carson squeals walking into the bar that Selene works at, they were supposed to spend the day together but she worked last night so Carson wasn't sure where they stood on the idea.
"Selene, someone is here for you." A rather large man yells from the bar he was wiping down, Carson gives a wary smile his way as she waves in the most subtle way. Afraid if she made a sudden movement he would go crazy, the large hairy man returns the smile but it didn't seem sincere.
"Who is it?" Selene's voice comes faint from the background as she walks up wiping her hands off in a washcloth, when her eyes land on Carson she face palms. "Our day together, I completely forgot Cars. I'm exhausted..."
"No, it's okay Sel. Just go home and sleep we can spend another day together," she tries her best to muster up a sincere smile but it didn't fool Selene.
"Carson, I can't do that to you. I know you need a girls day with Michael and you breaking up, I'm tired but I can manage for you." She smiles but it didn't make it to her eyes with large bags under them, the hairy man clears his throat loudly. "Oh, Carson this is Jim, my boss he owns the bar, Jim this is my best friend Carson."
"Hey sweetie," his voice rings with pure joy, surprising Carson when he had yelled earlier his voice was a deep scary thing, now it was high pitched with a lisp.
"Uh, hi..." She says, Selene and Jim laughing at the expression of confusion on her face. Jim was a proud gay man and when people found that out they were always shocked, he seems more like someone that would want to rob you not give you a makeover.
"Not your typical bar owner, eh?" He laughs shaking his head, she lets out an awkward laugh afraid to nod in agreement not wanting to offend him. There weren't many gay guys in Texas, that she knew anyways, in fact Carson had never even met a gay person until she came to Chicago.
"Nice to meet you nonetheless,"
"Likewise, I'm going to leave you ladies alone to figure out your plans. Thanks for coming in last night Selene, Ron is so done after tonight." He groans the last part his voice back to that deep scary sound, before he takes a deep breath and a smile comes back and he walks out.
"Sel just go home and sleep, I can come over in a few hours and we can go out then." Selene looks at her best friend trying to figure out the right thing to do, she was exhausted but Carson was going through a hard time whether she admits it or not. It seemed to be more than just about Michael, though she couldn't prove it.
"Are you sure?" She asks, watching Carson carefully any sign off doubt and she was going to work through this sleepiness and be there but Carson just nods violently pushing her out the door toward her apartment.
Carson was in her apartment waiting for a call from Selene when she woke up, but it wasn't the only call she was waiting for. She hasn't heard from Phil since the day she realized she loved him and it was driving her crazy, what if Phil was going to use her like he has done everyone else? As if on cue her apartment buzzer goes off, jumping off the couch with excitement to get out of her place she hits the button opening the downstairs door.
The young woman quickly grabs her jacket, shrugging it on her shoulder before making her way to the door. She hears the faint knock and a smile spread across her face. "I thought you'd sleep long-" She says through the door but stops suddenly when she opens it. It wasn't Selene like she thought. Her jaw unhinges in surprise. "Michael . . ."
The corner of his mouth lifts in small smile, hands digging into his jean pockets. "Hi . . ." Her heart clenches in her chest at just the sound of his voice.
"What, um, I mean what are you doing here?" She was hesitant, unable to decide if this was good or bad. His brown eyes were taking in the new Carson, and it made her feel a little insecure.
"Can I come in?" He coughs awkwardly, eyes leaving his high school sweetheart and focusing on the apartment behind her. She nods quickly, that southern guilt kicking in as she steps aside to welcome him. "I know I should have called. This is weird isn't it?" He asks, mainly himself before continuing. "I was afraid you wouldn't want me to come."
"Then why did you?" She asks sharply. She can't decide if she wants him here or not. Her mind flashing back to Phil.
He sighs, raking his large hands through his hair. "Because, I realized there is nothing between you and that Phil guy." Her brows crease with confusion. "You didn't hear?"
"Didn't hear what?" Her heart pounded in her ears.
"He's dating some chick named Lita. There's been pictures of the two of them going up all week." Her heart sank in her chest, eyes glossing over. "I don't know why I ever thought you could have a thing for that guy. I'm sorry, Cars. Come back home, lets be happy again." Tears burn the back of her throat. None of this made sense, they were just starting to get somewhere and suddenly without warning the rug was ripped out from underneath her.
"Okay." She says in a low voice, Michael's eyes lite up.
"Really?" He beams, her head nods up and down, unable to form words. Carson was willing to do whatever it took to never see that punks face again.
