CM Love: Chapter One

Chapter 1:

“Hey, I just landed I know you were worried so I wanted to check in.” Carson says into her phone grabbing her giant bag dragging it through the hectic airport her heart racing with so many strangers around.

“How was the flight, scary?” Michael asks his familiar accent making Carson feel a little less like a big fish out of water, she looks up at the signs trying to figure out which way she needs to go people pushing past her without a care.

“Yes, I was so afraid when we took off and it was shaky as a chicken with his head cut off!” She squeals, imagining the moment again sending shivers down her spine. “I feel so outta place, Michael there are people here with tattoo’s and piercing’s everywhere! I saw one guy with a tattoo of a naked woman on his face!” She says in a loud whisper hoping not to offend anyone around, it was rare for someone to get a tattoo in Arlington and when they did it was America related.

“Whoa, really? Damn that is mighty weird…just keep your head up and don’t let anyone push you around. I love you, Cars call me when you get to your new apartment.” Carson sighs not wanting to hang up and be all alone in this madness called a city.

“Love you too…” with that he hangs up, she grabs the handle of the bag again heading in the direction she thought would take her out of the airport, crowds of people were walking in the opposite direction as her. “Excuse me…pardon me….oh I’m sorry…” she went on and on as people push by her like she was not even there none of them doing the same, they snarl at her kindness making her feel even more out of place.

“Will you watch where you are going, damn can’t get any respect around here.” A pale man with dark hair slicked back snarls, his thin pierced lips curling up in disgust as he wipes off his tattoo filled arm that brushed against Carson.

“I’m so sorry.” Carson offers her sincerest apology even though he had ran into her, he rolls his brown eyes carrying on. “He should get some sleep he would be less grumpy…” She mumbles under her breath noting the red bags under his eyes. Standing there in her flower printed sundress and light brown cowboy boots she watches him walk off into the distance intrigued by how odd he was compared to the men back in Texas.

“Excus-“ Carson would start reaching her hand out to the taxi finally outside the airport but it would speed on by and she would pull her hand back in to her mouth waiting for another to approach she has been trying to hail a cab for at least a good 20 minutes.

“Let me guess first time in Chicago?” A voice laughs behind her, she turns to find a girl with dark brown hair and a well fitted leather jacket. Oh my…would never see a girl this edgy in Arlington that’s for sure…Carson thinks giving a smile to her.

“Is it that obvious?” She asks in her nasally country accent, the girl smiles nodding.

“You’re accent is adorable, I’m Selene by the way and I’m Chicago made!” Selene smiles proud of where she comes from,

“I don’t have an accent…I’m Carson and I’m Arlington made.” Selene looks at her for a moment wondering if she is giving her a fake name, surely there weren’t girls named Carson.

“Sure you don’t…” laughs Selene at Carson’s slight attitude to the accent comment, “Arlington, why does that sound so familiar?” She asks the country girl pondering the thought to figure it out,

“Probably King Of Hill it takes place in Arlington, Texas which is where I wish I was right now…” Carson says all smiles gone already very home sick, the air here was mucky at best and it was loud this kinda living wasn’t made for girls like her.

“Oh yeah, and come on Chicago is great once you get to see all the wonderful things it has to offer honest. Let me show you around and I bet you will love it almost as much as I do!” Selene gives a cheerful grin in Carson’s direction, making her feel a little better about being forced to a place she doesn’t want to be.

“Okay, first can you help me get to my new apartment the moving truck is probably already there waiting for me.” The edgy girl gives Carson a watch this look pulling her fingers to her lips she whistles so loud that Carson has to cover her ears, the cab approaching pulls to a halt immediately and Carson turns to Selene in shock. “Wow, you gotta teach me that.”

“Sure thing,” She smiles helping Carson put her bag into the trunk,

“I know I just met you but can you do me a favor? Can you come with me to my apartment so I don’t get lost this is the address.” She hands her a slip of paper, reading the address she nods.

“I used to live around there when I was kid, it’s by the hospital. We had to take my brother there like once a day back in the day.” She laughs at her memories of her brother Phillip diving off the top bunk trying to copy the wrestling moves.

Carson leans in really close to her and whispers in a nervous voice, “Was he beat as a child or something? I read about that on the internet…” Selene bursts into laughter at how innocent the girl was for her age.

“No silly, that doesn’t happen as often as you think. My brother wanted to be a wrestler so he would practice all the time let’s just say he is a lot better 56 broken bones later!” She laughs again, climbing into the taxi with Carson. “He is actually the reason I’m here today I had to drop him off,”

“Really, what for?” she asks adjusting her dress,

“Oh he travels a lot for work, every Monday and Tuesday sometimes all week just depends really he goes all over the world for his job.” Selene takes off her jacket sitting it on her lap, Carson looks over and sees the number 13 tattooed behind her ear.

“That must suck majorly…” Carson says bitterly knowing how much she hates traveling now, Selene eyes her suspiciously taken back by her reaction, “I just mean he could never settle down and I just couldn’t imagine life without being around my family all the time…” she trails off realizing she now has to live that in real life.

“I never thought of that most people are like whoa lucky son of a bitch!” Carson’s eyes go wide at Selene saying a curse word, her parents taught her that a lady never cusses and if she does she must apologize for it. City folks where very interesting indeed…

“Yeah, what does that 13 behind your ear stand for?” she asks wanting to change the subject, Selene noticed the shock from here cussing and it made her determined to show Carson just how fun being a city chick can be.

“My brother Phillip and I got matching tattoo’s awhile back it stands for us being big on sports it was always our jersey number growing up.”

“You guys seem really close…I like that makes me feel at home again.” She gives a warm smile as the taxi pulls up in front of a big red brick building. “I guess this is it.”
