Chapter 2

"Hey. I got to go to my locker for a second. I'll catch you in class?" Punk asked. I nodded my head. He soon ran off in the opposite direction of the class.

I sighed. He's ditching class. His locker is on the way to the class. Guess I have to be a good friend. Like normal.

As I enter the classroom, I noticed we had a substitute. Which makes me pretending to be Punk way easier. I took my seat in the back and placed myself on the seat next to me.

"Hi class. I'm Ms. Dawson. I'll be here all week since Mr. Fischbach will be gone all week. So please say here and raise your hand when I call your name." She explained. Alright, Punk's name is fifth from the top.

"Phillip Brooks." She called.

I raised my hand and did my best impression of him.

"Here."

A few students around me laughed. I gave each one of them a glare, telling them to shut up. She seemed to buy the impression, continuing onto the next name. I quickly shifted seats to where all my stuff was. I pulled out my phone to text Punk.

Hey. If you're ditching class I got you covered. But if you're going to come, text me so I can leave class. I waited for him to respond.

"Spencer Hardy. "Ms. Dawson called out.

"Here!" I answered. My phone soon buzzed afterwards.

Thanks Spence! I'm on the way! Head out in 3 minutes.

How did I get so lucky? I think about that question a lot too. Punk is one of my- No is my best friend. And no matter how much he screws up, I always have his back. And I know he has mine. I looked up at the door to see him waving at me.

"Ms. Dawson, may I go to the bathroom?" I asked. She gave me the okay so I grabbed my phone and headed out the door.

"You didn't say there was a sub! I would have walked in." I shook my head before giving him a punch on the arm.

"No dumbass. I covered for you. It would have been really suspicious if Phillip Brooks walked in after roll." I explained. We had begun walking away from the classroom towards the bathroom.

"So what's my excuse to get into class?" I stood there for a minute to think. Then I remembered I had my anxiety pills in my pocket. I know, why do you have them in your pocket? Well because if I had a random anxiety attack, I wouldn't have to search through my backpack for them. I pulled them out and handed them to Punk.

"Your pills?" He acts with a confused look on his face. His phone buzzed. He pulled it out to look at the text.

"Punk. I need you. Bring my anxiety pills. I'm having an attack." He read the text aloud. I waited for him to slowly put the two and two together. It was like a light bulb went on over his head when they finally clicked.

"Oh! You had an "anxiety attack" so I had to run out of the class to bring you your pills!" I clapped at his "genius" mind.

"Wait. What about my backpack? Why would I run out with it?" he questioned.

Do I have to think of everything?

"Just say you never took it off. And when I texted you just ran out not realizing you still had it on your back." I quickly answered. We started heading back to the class passing the office. As we passed by, I felt like I heard my mother.

"Well, where is she!? She should have been here at school! If you've lost my daughter-"

"Mrs. Hardy. She attended history. She should be there." the office attendant said. My mom turned her head towards the door as I walked by.

"Spencer!" She called out after me. I stopped in my tracks so let her catch up to me.

"Where were you!? I've been trying to pull you out of class!" She explained before her eyes locked onto Punk. "Phil. Were you ditching class to hang out with him?" She glared.

"No Mom. I was in class, but I had an anxiety attack. I asked Punk to bring me my anxiety pills. We're heading back to class now." I explained. Her eyes had seemed to gleam concern after I told her my excuse. She soon pulled me into a hug, a comforting hug.

"I'm sorry baby. Go grab your stuff. I'm taking you home. Your brothers are visiting for a few days."

I felt a smile creep up on my face. I've missed my brother so much. Matt and Jeff never really come to visit. And my parents never take me with them because they always go when I'm at school. I don't even know what Jeff and Matt look like now. Especially Jeff since he loves to change his hair color. Punk and I continued our walk back to our class stopping right before we made it to the door.

"You still meet me at the gym at 4 right? And help me with my homework after?" Punk asked. I nodded, patting him on the back.

"Of course my dude! I'd never leave you hanging." Entering the classroom, I immediately headed to my desk grabbing my stuff as fast as I could. Heading back to the door, I could feel my excitement to see my brothers again increasingly grow.

"Hardy! Don't forget these." Punk called out after me. He threw a bottle in the air toward me. Catching it, I realized it was my anxiety pills.

"Catch ya later fucker!" I yell walking out of the room. I reach the office to find my mom sitting outside waiting for me.

"Mom. I'm ready." Giving me a smile, we headed out the office towards the parking lot.
