Grace's Birthday Outfit 

" Happy Birthday!" 

" Awe guys thank you so much." 

" Hey, you're one of us now." 

" Thank you Herrmann. This is the best birthday I could ever ask for." 

" Hey no problem sweetheart, now go on and have some cake." 

"Yes, sir." Grace went over to her guest as she couldn't wait to have a great time at her party. Grace couldn't remember the last time she enjoyed a party. Most of the time she would stay for a short while and either head home to binge-watch Netflix or go to a nice restaurant to enjoy some peace time alone since she didn't have any real friends. But once she came to the department she has never been more grateful to have real friends and family.

Grace walks around the bar and says hello to everyone who arrives at the party and then walks over to Gabby to ask her something until Grace notices a guy glancing at her. 

" Um, Gabby, who's the guy with the shortcut with Brett and Cruz? Because he has not looked away from me." Grace asked as she had no idea if this guy was being a creep or flirting. 

" Oh that's Jay Halsted, and from what I'm seeing I think he's interested in you." Gabby said as she worked on drinks at the bar. 

" Me? He's interested in me?" 

" Wait has anyone been interested in you before?" 

" Not really no. I even tried to ask guys out and they said no, and not in the nicest way." 

" Well, tonight that is going to change." 

" What are you doing?" 

" Jay come over here and say hi to the birthday girl." Gabby calls Jay over to them and starts heading towards the bar. 

" Gabby this is...un hello." Grace saw Jay come to her side as she felt shy around him. 

" Hey, I'm Jay." 

" Grace. So how do you know the department? 

" I'm a cop. I sometimes meet up with everyone here or help them with a few cases." 

" Oh, wow that's crazy. I don't know how anyone could handle a job like that." 

" Well, I should say the same thing for those who risk their lives to put out fires." 

" Fair enough." 

" Can I get you a drink?" 

" White wine please." 

Jay ordered their drinks at the bar and kept on talking to each other as Kelly started to feel a little jealous of Jay since he had never been jealous of anyone before. Why was Kelly feeling like this he should be happy for Grace, but he isn't. 

" You know if you want to be with her, go and talk to her." Richard said as he came to Kelly's side. 

" I don't want to be rude, she's talking to Jay anyway." 

" Cop?" 

" Detective." 

" Impressive, but she's not interested in him." 

" How do you know?" 

" I've known my granddaughter since she was born, and I can see no spark in her eyes except for you. And don't deny anything. I was like you before. Ladies man, never wanted to settle, until my Ruby came into my life. After getting to know Ruby every day I never wanted to leave her side for one minute. But when I lost her a few years back I wasn't sure how to keep going until Grace told me to never lose faith in myself." 

" I'm guessing Ruby said that?" 

" She sure did. I can Ruby in Grace. Resemblance, personality, same heart. I need you to know Grace has never been in love before. I want her to be with a good man who will protect her and love her every day. No matter how bad the day was be always happy to see her smile. Let her be the first thing when you wake up and the last thing before you go to sleep. If you can't be that man for Grace then you're an idiot and don't deserve Grace but if you do love her more than anything you have my blessing." 

Kelly was speechless of hearing those words from Richard and wondered why he did. 

Soon Richard started to feel pain in his chest and fell to the floor. 

" I need some help here!" Kelly yelled out as he tried to help Richard. 

" Grandpa! What happened?" Grace hurried over to them as she felt scared.

" I think he's having a heart attack." 

"Ambulance is on its way." Gabby said as she started CPR.

At the hospital, everyone waited for news to arrive as they waited. Grace wanted to call her family but then remembered everything they put her through and put her phone away. She is with her real family beside her. 

Soon the doctor came out and everyone came to their feet. 

" Ms. Castle, your Grandfather had a mild heart attack, but he's stable." Dr. Rhodes said as Grace was relieved for a moment. 

" Oh thank goodness." 

" He's waiting for you." 

Grace hurries in as fast as she can and finds her Grandpa all hooked up to the monitors. 

" Hey, Beautiful." 

" Grandpa don't you ever scare me like that again." Grace said as tears came down her cheeks. " I don't know what I would be without you." 

" Yes, you will sweetheart. Because we can never stop time and need to push forward." 

Grace nodded her head after she sat next to her Grandpa. " Okay, Grandpa. I promise to keep going." 

2 Days went by as Grace looked forward to taking her Grandpa home the next morning since everything seemed to be fine, but that didn't come to be. As the next morning arrived Grace went to sign the release forms with Maggie until she heard the sound. 

" * Flatline*" 

" Help! Somebody, help!" Grace called out as nurses and Doctor Rhodes tried to revive Richard but nothing was working.

 After ten minutes of trying to revive Richard, it became finalized. 

" Time of death 5:05 am." Doctor Rhodes said sadly. 

" NO! No please no! No..." Grace cries her heart out as April holds Grace in her arms. 

Gabby gets a phone call from Will Halstead and feels a little worried. 

" Hey Will, is everything alright?" 

" It's Grace's grandpa. He didn't make it." 

" What? I'll alert everyone right now." 

" Thank you."

" Guys! We have to get to the hospital. Richard passed away." 

" What?" Casey is shocked to hear this. 

"Let's get going." Kelly said as he grabbed his jacket. 

" Everyone mount up." Herrmann said as he and the rest of the crew headed over to the hospital. 

It took them a few minutes to get to the hospital but once they made it the whole team found Grace in her grandfather's empty room with the last of his things on her lap as her cheeks were red from crying and looked broken. 

" Grace, hey we're all here." Gabby said softly as Grace looked up from her lap to see Gabby. 

" He's gone, he's gone."  Grace said softly as she felt hurt. 

" Shh.. it's going to be okay. Grace we are all here for you. See?" Gabby pointed over to the team.

Grace looked over to see everyone there and couldn't help but cry some more. Gabby held Grace in her arms. Everyone from 51 knew from them on Grace Castle is never alone anymore.
