Grace Castle is the only granddaughter of Richard Castle. Grace's parents Daniel and Pemila Castle and her older brother DJ are very spoiled but not Grace. 

Grace works hard every day at Castle Corp. one of the biggest companies in the world, Grace is thankful for having a job, but it's something that she doesn't want to do. Ever since Grace was a little girl she has always wanted to join the fire department. Grace was inspired to become one when a few firefighters visited her elementary school once and that was it. 

But her family had other plans for her once Grace turned 30 years old if she didn't marry by then. Her parents set up an arranged marriage with one of the competitive company's sons Chris Jackson, who Grace is very annoyed with. 

" How could you both do this?! I don't even love Chris." Grace couldn't believe her parents were forcing her to get married. 

" Grace this has been made since you were born, so you can be taken care of and not worry about working." Pam tells Grace as she thought she was doing what was best for Grace. 

" But I like working mom, it helps me to know I can take care of myself. I'm not going to marry Chris. You can't make me. This isn't the 19th century anymore!" Grace tells her parents. 

" Well too bad the wedding is on June 16th and you are going to marry Christopher, and that's final!" Daniel said determination. 

" No, she's not!" Richard said as he came inside the room wanting to know what the commotion was about. 

" Grandpa." Grace came over to time as she felt frightened. 

" I'm not going to let you give your only daughter to some punk that doesn't even love her." Richard tells his son and daughter-in-law. 

" It's for her own good. Grace needs to settle down." Daniel said to his father. 

" Hers to yours? You'll be hearing from my lawyer. Let's go, Grace." Richard takes Grace away from the room. 

" Grandpa, what are we going to do?" 

"Pack your things, take only what you need. We're leaving." 

Grace quickly went inside her room and packed her bags as she didn't want to be part of her parent's life again after hearing this news. Her brother DJ doesn't get forced into my and get into mounts of trouble yet gets away with everything but when it comes to Grace, if she is 10 minutes late to an event because of traffic, or she caught a cold because she didn't want to get anyone sick, her parents give her a lecture on how to be presentable or anything for not being what they wanted her to be. 

Once Grace finished packing she saw her Grandpa talking on the phone with someone. 

" Okay great see you soon." Richard hung up as he saw Grace coming in. 

" Ready to go." Grace said as she held her bags in her hands. 

" You'll need these if you want to drive." Richard tosses Grace his car keys and catches them. 

" Then let's go." Grace said as she started heading downstairs and out the door until her father stopped them. 

" What is the meaning of this?! You can't leave this house." 

" Yes, I am Father. You and mother have no say in my life anymore." Grace walks passes her father but Daniel grabs her arm Richard forcefully pushes Daniel up against the wall hard. 

" Never lay a hand on her ever again. If you ever come near Grace again I promise you, you'll regret it for the rest of your life."  The deep dark tone from Richard was terrifying but Grace knew her Grandpa was protecting her. 

He and Grace left the house in his 1957 Roadster drives to Chicago and didn't look back.
