Emergency Contact Information
The sound of a heart monitor was the only thing that filled the room. Light breathing could be heard if you listened closely, but it was mostly the machine that made the noise. Gemma frowned deeply as her fingers ran through her niece's [h/c] hair that was still covered in Chibs's blood from the blast.
She was worried sick when she seen the two go flying through the air after the explosion. It hurt her to see her baby in pain, how could something like this have happened. She was suppose to be safe working for Teller-Morrow. She was kept out of Club business and there shouldn't have been any reason for this to happen to the sweet girl.
Gemma felt her heart twinge. This was all her fault for not telling Clay about the rape. She had instead told them that she had been in a car accident, not wanting to hurt Clay or Jax with the news, but now this happened.
Tears slid down Gemma's cheeks as she patted her nose with a tissue she had in her other hand.
There was a knock on the door before it opened. Gemma looked up from her spot next to [Name]'s bed as she sat in her chair. It was Clay, Jax, Juice, Tig and Opei. Happy and Bobby walked in behind them shortly after, followed by Tara.
"How's she doing?"
Clay asked, his eyes shadowed over as he looked at his niece hooked up to all the equipment. Tara walked forward and took some vitals as she wrote them down on the chart before she let out a deep sigh.
"Her vitals are stable, but since she moved around too much with her injuries, I'm afraid she's still resting. She's been coming and going through out the night -- waking up for a few seconds before falling back asleep."
Tara explained. The explosion had damaged the nerves in the back of her neck, causing her to lose consciousness and not be able to stay awake for long periods of time.
"What does that mean? Her waking up and then going back to sleep?"
Bobby asked, walking around to sit on the couch that was in the room. Tara looked around at all of them before she shook her head.
"Her neck injury was caused from whiplash when the explosion caused her to go flying and then hitting the pavement. It made her head go one way, while her neck went the other. There could be damage to the spine due to the this -- it could effect her legs and arms, but she hasn't been awake long enough for us to do any testing."
"Jesus Christ!"
Jax scoffed and leaned down at the foot of his cousin's bed. Opei shook his head and turned his back to her, he couldn't look at her right now while she was like this. Her face was scratched all to hell from the pavement where she took a nose dive into it. Scratch marks ran along her right cheek from the road rash she got -- more than likely going to leave scaring there afterwards.
Her nose had luckily been saved and there wasn't anything broken, but her face had gotten the worst of it thanks to Chibs who had saved her life.
Tig shook his head and sighed as he looked at the young woman who was sleeping in the bed. How had this happened to her? They had tried to do their best to keep her safe and yet still she had almost died.
"If we had done immediate retaliation -- "
Tig spoke up, his voice gruff. Jax looked to Tig, angry with the man that was speaking right now.
"We all took the vote. Besides, this was already planned, it wouldn't have mattered either way!"
Jax scoffed. Tig's eyes narrowed as he walked up to Jax with his finger pointed out toward him. Happy and Opei stood between the two.
"Hey, hey, brother! Not here!"
Opei said as he held Jax from getting any closer to Tig. Happy held Tig back from Jax.
"You two knock it off!"
Clay piped up, his voice raised beyond the indoor voice level. He had had it with Jax and Tig going at it the last few days -- hell, he had had it with Jax going against him in the last few days.
Clay's voice caused the beeping on the heart monitor to raise slightly, catching everyone's attention. Tara turned to face [Name] as she placed her hand on the girl's wrist and reading her heart monitor.
"She's responding to voices..."
Tara whispered, turning and looking at Jax wide eyed. Everyone looked at her confused, wondering what that had meant.
"You mean she can hear us?"
Gemma asked, confused as well. Tara looked down at Gemma and shook her head.
"I'm not for sure. Clay, try talking again louder like before."
Tara told the older man. Clay's eyes widened as he walked past the rest of the guys and to her bedside. He placed a hand on the top of her head and slowly leaned down.
"Hey baby, can you hear me?"
He asked, her heart rate rose slightly, signalling that she could indeed hear him. He looked back at Tara confused, seeing her nod her head telling him to continue, he turned back to her and continued.
"Hey, I want you to know that we're going to get those assholes that did this to you. We're going to make them pay for what they've done. Nobody hurts my baby girl. Nobody."
"That's amazing, her heart rate went from 87 to 106 with Clay's voice. She really can hear us."
Tara said baffled looking at the heart rate monitor.
"What does that mean?"
Gemma asked, hopeful for something good to come out of this now. Tara sighed and gave a small shrug of her arms.
"It means several things. One that there's no significant brain damage -- if there were she couldn't hear us right now. Which means that could also rule out the nerve damage to her neck, which goes to her brain. She could very well still be able to walk and use her hands. But, we won't know until we've gotten further testing."
The thickness that had been looming in the room seemed to have died down greatly with those words from Tara. Clay leaned back up and looked down at Gemma, knowing that this was good news.
"I do have one question though if I could speak with you Clay."
Tara asked, causing clay to turn toward her with a brow raised.
"It's about her emergency contact information?"
"What about it?"
Clay asked, wondering why Tara was even asking about this in the first place. [Name]'s family was all here, there should be no need for any other questions about it.
"Um, well," Tara said before peering around the room not sure if she should ask in front of everyone else in here.
"Just spit it out Doc, we don't hide shit in the Club."
Tara nodded slowly as she flipped over to the next page.
"I have down here that her mother is one of her emergency contact numbers and that she was contacted last night about the accident."
"Shit."
Clay said, his voice soft but still held anger. Tara blinked as she looked around the room confused only to see everyone's faces turn grim.
"What's wrong?"
Tara asked, confused as to why everyone seemed displeased that [Name]'s mother had been contacted.
"Why did you have to call her?"
Clay asked, as he gestured to everyone in the room.
"We're her family here."
He placed his hands on his waist as he shook his head. Tara looked to Jax for answer only to see the man frowning as well.
"Laura Morrow is her mother. I didn't think it would be a problem --"
"O'Shay."
Clay corrected, causing Tara to blink confused. Clay shook his head and cursed again.
"It's Laura O'Shay. That's her madden name."
Tara still seemed confused, so Jax spoke up.
"Laura O'Shay is the younger sister to one of the Kings of the Real IRA. His name is Galen O'Shay. And if you contacted her mother, then her mother contacted Galen which means -- we're in for one hell of a shit storm."
