Awakening

A small groan escaped from her mouth. It hurt even to try to vocalize anything. Her eyes felt so heavy, but there was a strong need to open them.

Cracking open an eye it was instantly shut due to the pain that cracked through her skull. She groaned again and turned her head slowly.

A sound of a heart monitor picked up quicker as more pain rushed through her neck to her skull.

Suddenly in the darkness there was a sound of a door opening and someone shuffling to her side.

"Miss. Morrow?"

It was a woman's voice.

"Miss. Morrow can you hear me?"

"Uhhhhg. What? What, what, what, whaaaat?"

She groaned, her voice rough and hurting just about as much as her neck and head. Suddenly she felt her eyelid being opened and a bright light entering her eye. She quickly put up a hand and smacked away the person's arm.

"Miss. Morrow please, it's Tara, you're alright now."

"Tara -- Jax's old lady?"

There was a short pause before a small sigh was heard.

"No, I'm not his old lady. But, yes, it's me Tara."

[Name] slowly opened an eye. The light not as bright anymore and she could actually open her eyes fully.

"Do you know where you are, Miss -- "

"Call me Miss. Morrow one more time and you'll find your pen light in your own eye."

There was a short pause as Tara's eyes widened. She hadn't known the woman to be violent prior to this incident, so she blamed it on the meds for now.

"Alright, [Name], do you know where you are?"

"Hospital."

"Do you recall why you're here?"

There was another moment. She tried to remember the best she could as to what happened and the  she did -- and it wasn't good.

She shot up from her position in the bed and screamed out in pain. Tara jumped back, shocked that the woman did something as stupid as move so quickly after her injuries.

"Chibs! Where's Chibs! Is he okay!?"

Tara would have been a fool to not notice the paniced look in the younger woman's eyes as she reached out and tried to keep her in place.

"He's okay! He's okay! Calm down before you hurt yourself!"

[Name] groaned and fell back into the bed. The heart monitor going crazy which caused a nurse to rush into the room.

"It's okay I've got it handled!"

Tara told the woman who looked at them for a moment before nodding and closing the door back behind her. Tara slowly removed her hands from the woman and pulled back.

"Where is he?"

Tara looked at her rather wide-eyed before she shook her head.

"A couple of rooms down from here... He's yet to wake up but he's okay."

"He's not awake, but he's okay? What the fuck does that mean?"

She looked at Tara with a worried expression. Tara took a deep breath before continuing with her explanation.

"Chibs protected you from the majority of the blast from the explosion. He had severe head trauma, but he's out of the woods. He's going to be just fine."

[Name] closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She couldn't remember clearly as to what happened, all she remembered was waking up next to chips who was on the ground bleeding from what she assumed was his head now that Tara had informed her about the head trauma.

She felt tears slowly slide down the sides of her cheeks. There was so much rage within her and so many questions as to why this it happened. Tara noticed her cheers and placed a gentle hand on her shoulder, but she did not look at Tara she only looked forward at the wall that was in front of her.

"It's not your fault."

Tara said trying to comfort her. She shook her head slowly and bit her bottom lip.

"I was the one that was supposed to check the van. I had been given the paperwork, but Chibs offered to help me. It should have been me in that van not him. I should have been the one that it blew up on, not him."

Tara squeezed her shoulder softly not really knowing what to say after being informed of this. Had Chibs not been there to save her, she surely would have died in that explosion.

"He's going to be all right. You know he's far too stubborn for anything else to happen."

She could only nod at Tara's words as the tears continue to slide down her cheeks. Her eyes never left the wall that was across the room, she couldn't even bring herself to look at Tara.

"When can I see him?"

"When we ran tests on you to make sure that you're able to move properly. We don't want to move you too much if there is a spinal injury due to the blast. That would only cause you more pain and wood have your healing process take longer."

She nodded her head slowly taking Tara's words into consideration. She knew that she had to be careful with how she moved now due to the fact there could be injury to her spinal cord. Although she could feel her fingers and toes that didn't mean that there was not some type of nerve damage.

"There's also one more thing that you should know. I wasn't sure if I should tell you or not, but Gemma said it would be the best thing to do for you to find out now rather than later."

"What?"

"Your mother's here in Charming."

It was only at these words did she rip her eyes away from the wall and look at Tara as if she were a deer in headlights.

"My mother is here? But how did she find out about this?"

"She was listed as one of your emergency contact numbers, besides your father's. But with your father being in jail we went and contacted your mother which she was the next one to contact. Gemma and Clay informed me of your mother's relationship to the IRA and that it was a mistake to contact her."

"Yeah, big mistake. If she tells uncle Galen then the Club is going to -- shit. Where is she now?"

Tara shook her head.

"I'm not really sure if she's not out in the waiting room. She was here a few hours ago in your room, but I think she left."

"Shit. Shit. Shit. Get Gemma on the phone find out where she is this is not good Tara, this is not good at all."

She groaned laying her head back feeling a wave of tiredness coming over her. She closed her eyes slowly inside, apparently the injury took a lot out of her and a simple conversation was extremely hard to do right now.

"I'll call and talk to Gemma see what I can get, but you have to rest. You can't be worrying about this right now your first and only priority is to make sure that you get enough rest and heal up so that we can do these tests."

"Thanks doc."

Tara nodded before she slipped out of the room to try to get ahold of Jax so she could talk to Gemma.
