it had taken a week of moping to do so, but jimin had finally gathered up the courage to text seokjin and ask to talk it out.
he sent the text and bit his lip, trying to ignore the pit feeling in his stomach from the nervousness.
he crossed his fingers, and waited.

seokjin sighed as he knocked another drink back, trying to block out another joke that namjoon was making. they were both at the bar, deciding that they wanted to have a night out together.
both were already hammered, but seokjin was finding namjoon's corny jokes funnier and funnier the more drunk he was, so he kept knocking them back.
namjoon on the other hand, was telling more and more jokes the drunker he got, so it was a win-win situation.
"did you know," namjoon slurred, holding up a shot of tequila that he was about to take, "that the whole 'why did the chicken cross the road' thing, is a-"
seokjin slammed an empty shot glass down on the table, and proceeded to finish namjoon's sentence for him. "a suicide joke?"
namjoon raised an eyebrow and giggled, making seokjin giggle too. "how did you know i was gonna say that?" he asked, seokjin barely able to decipher his words.
"i don't know, maybe boyfriend telepathy?" seokjin suggested, smiling when it made namjoon laugh, dimples flashing fully.
"boyfriend telepathy." namjoon agreed, lifting up his glass to clink it with seokjin's before they both downed it, erupting into another fit of giggles.
"damn, tequila is disgusting." namjoon commented, and seokjin nodded, mumbling an "amen."
namjoon was about to order them another round of shots, when seokjin's phone buzzed. "can you check that for me babe?" seokjin asked, looking around the room, feeling kind of dazed.
"sure thing." namjoon reached over and lifted the phone up, confusion enveloping him once he noticed who had texted.
jimin
look, seokjin
jimin
hoseok's out of town
jimin
can you come over? i just wanna talk.
disregarding the last text, namjoon put the phone down in disbelief, turning to seokjin feeling like his heart had been ripped out.
"the fuck is this?" he asked, getting seokjin's attention, who furrowed his brows in confusion. namjoon picked up the phone again and clicked it on, shoving it in seokjin's face.
"what-" seokjin began, and then he read the texts and his eyes widened. "jimin texted me?" he said in shock, but namjoon was far too drunk to notice the tone in his voice.
"don't play dumb." he scoffed, placing the phone harshly back down on the countertop. "hoseok isn't home? the fuck is that supposed to mean?"
seokjin's mouth nearly fell open in shock, they were just having a blast earlier and now namjoon just seemed so angry.
"joon, what are you suggesting." seokjin uttered slowly, trying to make namjoon actually think before he said anything too stupid.
"what do you think i'm suggesting." namjoon swiveled on his chair, turning away from seokjin has he placed his arms on the bar, burying his head in his hands.
"please tell me you don't think i'm-" seokjin was cut off by namjoon turning to look back at him, a mixture of hurt and rage painted on his face.
"cheating?" he spit, and seokjin froze, his mouth falling open. his entire world came to a halt, he just felt stunned.
he loved jimin so much, but he was with namjoon now, and they were happy. seokjin was keeping too many secrets from namjoon, he knows, but cheating?
"is that why you guys act like you hate each other? to throw everyone else off the scent?" namjoon yelled, glaring at seokjin who just stayed silent, unable to form words.
"namjoon, i would never." seokjin responded after a moment, his voice cracking.
when namjoon heard it, he seemed to snap back to reality, and his eyes softened, before going wide at the realization of what he just did.
"holy shit, jinnie, i-" he began, but seokjin was already getting up, not wanting to cry in a public setting.
he was about to walk out, when namjoon grabbed his sleeve, stopping him.
"look, baby, i'm so sorry, i know you wouldn't ever do something like that." he pleaded, and seokjin didn't resist.
"i-i know." he looked down, not wanting to meet namjoon's eyes. "i'm gonna go to jimin's and see what he wants."
he awaited namjoon's reaction, but the gray haired nodded, accepting his decision. "just please come home later, i want to talk this out."
seokjin also nodded, still looking at his feet. "okay, i promise i will."
with that he shook his grip from namjoon's and walked out, leaving the younger with his own guilty thoughts.
fuck.
&
pitter patter.
it was pouring, and seokjin stood on jimin's doorstep, the relentless rain mixing with the tears on his face from the previous argument, making them indistinguishable from one another.
he raised his hand up to knock half heartedly, feeling emotionally drained and uncomfortable because he was soaked to the bone.
knock.
knock.
knock.
the door swung open, and jimin's half lidded eyes snapped open upon seeing seokjin on his doorstep. "seokjin." he exclaimed, and seokjin stared back at him, giving a weak smile.
"uh, come in." jimin stepped aside and seokjin walked in, lightly rubbing his arms as he suddenly felt cold.
"let me get you a towel." jimin said quietly, and then left the room, leaving seokjin to look around. it was a small apartment, with a bunch of pictures of jimin and hoseok up everywhere.
the word seokjin would use to describe it is cute, and that's very fitting.
jimin came back into the room and threw seokjin a towel, and then gestured towards the couch. "sit." he ordered as he went over to sit as well.
seokjin began drying himself off a bit, and then he used the towel to sit on in order to not get the couch wet.
"so." jimin began awkwardly, fiddling with his fingers and looking anywhere but seokjin. he knew that they needed to talk this out but he was regretting sending the text, this was already stressful.
"we haven't argued about something stupid yet." seokjin remarked with a sad laugh, that being the first thing he'd said the whole time. jimin chuckled. "i guess we haven't."
silence.
but the silence was deafening, and quite frankly, annoying to the two, why couldn't they just fucking talk about it?
"we should talk." jimin finally said, not being able to take it any more. seokjin nodded and prepared himself mentally.
"i'll go first." jimin breathed, and seokjin nodded again in understanding.
"um, i want to forgive you. but i went through so much because of what you did in high school, so it's really hard." he kept looking down, not able to look at seokjin.
"i know, and you don't have to forgive me. i was just so scared, so when youngjae suggested that i-"
jimin frowned.
"wait, youngjae created the whole blackmail rumor?" he actually looked at seokjin this time, face filled with confusion.
"you didn't know that?" seokjin stopped, forgetting his other train of thought and focusing on this.
"no, i thought you pulled it out of your ass."
seokjin shook his head with a small laugh. "nope, that was youngjae." he looked up, and then turned his attention back to jimin with wide eyed. "does this change anything?"
"not really, you still went along with it." seokjin's shoulder's slumped, but he understood. "fair." he mumbled.
"just kind of makes me hate youngjae even more." jimin said in a joking manner.
"yeah, he really was an asshole wasn't he."
"for sure."
they both giggled, before jimin's face fell and seokjin knew what he was about to talk about next.
"i was in love with you." he confessed, and seokjin wasn't sure whether to feel relieved, regretful, or sad.
so he felt all three.
"i was in love with you too."
jimin's eyes widened and he looked at seokjin in disbelief. "you were?" he questioned, and seokjin nodded solemnly.
"i was, but i was also a stupid ass teenager." he leaned forward and put his head in his hands, he hated thinking about what he did to jimin.
"i'm a teenager now." jimin thought out loud, and they both let out breathy chuckles at randomness of the comment.
"i was in denial, and what i did was terrible, even if it was a different asshole who came up with the idea."
"amen." jimin agreed, and seokjin laughed again.
"i'm so sorry jimin." he said more seriously, and jimin's smile died down, he felt serious too.
"i'm gonna forgive you," jimin began, and seokjin's eyes widened, "but i'm not gonna forget your assholery that easy."
"jesus, i should've done this earlier, you're funny as fuck."
"i know, one of my many talents."
