Run Away and Find Them

When I got home from work I knew.

Today was the day.

I was going to leave.

I couldn't stay here anymore.

I grabbed a duffle bag out of the closet and started packing.

I packed the only things that weren't white, two hair ties, one black one red, and my Black Parade jacket first. Then my blanket. Then some water. Finally, I grabbed some crackers and stuffed them in there too.

I zipped up the bag and ran out the door. I ran in the direction of the desert. That would be the best place to start looking for them.

I ran as fast and as far as my legs could carry me. I stopped to catch my breath near a car. It was colorful, unlike Battery City. The trunk was wide open.

Deciding it would be a good place to sleep for the night, I pulled the white blanket out of my bag and lay down in the trunk, closing it just enough so that it looked closed, but was also still open so I could get out in the morning.

I wrapped myself in the blanket and used the bag as a pillow. It wasn't very comfortable, but it would do for now. I closed my eyes and feel into a peaceful sleep.

I felt a cold breeze flow into the trunk, jolting me awake. But then I heard a familiar voice:

"Maya!?" They asked. I tried to remember where I had heard it before. Then it came to me.

"Mikey?" I asked, looking up at him.

He wrapped his arms around me in a tight hug, "I've missed you so much!" He sniffled.

"I missed you too!" I replied, returning his hug.

He pulled away, eyes were cloudy with tears, but he was smiling, "The guys would be so happy to see you!"

"They're out here too?" My eyes widened, a surprised smile on my face.

"Well, of course!" He said, sounding just like before he left, like nothing had ever changed, "I'll take you to them, just hop in one of the seats!" He extended his hand out to me to help me out of the trunk.

I gladly took it, and he pulled me up so I was standing.

I couldn't wait to see my friends after months of being alone.

Mikey pulled up to a small, makeshift looking base. I stepped out of the passenger side of the car. I stood in awe of what appeared to be a run down shack, it was like an explosion of color, which was definitely better than the plain white of Battery City.

I opened the creaky door, which got the attention of the figure on the couch. They lifted what appeared to be a gun and backed away, "Back off!" They hissed.

I put my hands up to show I was unarmed. A bit of light shone in from the door, ilumanating the face of the figure. I recognized them immediately.

"G-gerard?" I asked, studering slightly.

He lowered the wepon, seeming to remember my voice, "Maya?" His face softened, and a half smile appeared on his face, "What are you doing here?" He asked happily.

"I couldn't stay in Battery City anymore," I said, "the run-of-the-mill life there was driving me insane!"
