Desire of the Soul - Deleted Scene: The Watu

(AN: So this takes place in the place of the Flashback when the vultures capture Kopa in Desire of the Soul. It was deleted because Kate thought of something better)

"In a way, he's right," Kion admitted. This shocked Fuli. What?

"I mean, think about it. My great grandfather Ahadi neglected his younger son, Scar. So did Mufasa lots of times. It was because of them that Scar turned evil. The lions who were seen as good, were actually bad at times," Kion explained.

"And from what we've learned about your dad Hatari, is that my dad never paid any attention to him. And when Hatari needed him the most, he wasn't there." An awkward tension spread through the felines. Both knew why Simba wasn't there for Hatari.

"In a way... some of it is my fault," Kion admitted. He recalled the old memories which were since long forgotten.

"Kion, there was no way you could have known! You were hardly more than an infant!" Fuli protested.

"But still, I was the one who had gotten into trouble. If Kopa didn't try to come save me..." He shivered as the memory played in his head.

[FLASHBACK]

A little Kion ran as fast as his paws could take him. Loud explosions filled the air. He screamed in terror. "AHHHH! HELP ME!" The terrifying sounds got louder. Weird monkey looking creatures bounded towards him on what looked like zebras, but without the black and white stripes.

They constantly pointed black sticks towards him. They made a loud bang every time one did. Birds flew in the sky as fast as they could. Zebras and antelopes panicked and ran as fast as they could. Every animal ran from the weird creatures.

Kion soon began to tire, the creatures quickly gaining on him. NO! NO! What's gonna happen to me?!

The weird creatures were soon in reach of Kion. They quickly swooped down and grabbed him by his scruff. They held him up in front of them, chuckling.

Kion's heart was pounding a mile a minute. What are they gonna do to me?! Suddenly, one put one of those loud sticks to his chest. He looked at them, terrified.

Suddenly, a little roar interrupted them. A golden blur of fur tackled the weird creature in it's face, spitting and hissing furiously.

"LEAVE MY BROTHER ALONE!" The animal yelled in fury. Kion then realized - it was his brother Kopa! The creature that held Kion by his scruff suddenly let go of him.

Kion's face lit up with relief. "Kopa, you saved me!"

When he turned around, Kopa's face was serious. "Kion, run!" Kopa hissed urgently. "Go to that small crack in the large rocks! The watu won't fit in there!"

Watu? Is that what these strange creatures are called? Kion snapped out of his thoughts when Kopa shouted again. "Kion, go! Run!"

Kion ran as fast as he could to the crack in the rocks. He managed to squeeze himself in there just in time before the watu could grab him.

Suddenly he heard another roar, louder that time. Then a bang.

It seemed like eternity before Kion dared to peek out of the little crack in the rocks, fearful of what he might find.

When he finally peeked out, he saw his father standing protectively over Kopa, growling and snarling at the strange creatures whom Kopa had called 'watu'.

The watu scrambled away as fast as they could, leaving only Kopa and his father remaining.

"K-Kopa? Dad?" He was met by an angry glare from his father and a sympathetic glance from Kopa. They suddenly saw a cheetah approach them at an alarming rate.

"She's gone!" The cheetah's eyes were filled with an emotion that Kion never recognized nor experienced. "And it's because you didn't save her!"

"Dad, what's going on?" Kion asked "Who's gone? Gone where?"

"It's nothing son. Kopa, take your brother back to Pride Rock."

The two cubs obeyed, and trudged back to Pride Rock without a single word between them.
