Fool the Parents
8:15 a.m. With Marinette and Tikki
Tikki was starting to get used to having a human body again and it was getting easier to do it without thought. However, she did know how much trouble Marinette was having in her own kwami body.
She had never thought about it before, she just did it. Though Marinette is the kind of person to overthink things so this makes sense. She'll get it, eventually.
While Marinette was inside her bag, she took a bit of time to admire her own handiwork. It turned out to be a bit bouncy so she accidentally turned on her phone which happened to show her lock screen of Adrien. So she stared at it for a while.
Tikki was continuing down the stairs when she paused and all the blood rushed from her face. She may or may not have forgotten about Marinette's incredibly loving parents.
Marinette's mother, Sabine, appeared to be making breakfast at the counter while humming softly to herself. Tikki shook her head almost violently and started her acting. "Good morning, Maman." She said with Marinette's usual cheery but just woke up face.
"Oh, Marinette. You're up in time today?" she chuckled lovingly and Tikki joined in. Sabine turned around and set down a plate with ham, scrambled eggs, and a croissant on it in Marinette's place (you have no idea how hungry I just made myself) . "Eat up dear."
"Thanks Maman." Tikki said as she sat down and began to eat the forien food, it was delicious. While Sabine wasn't looking Tikki saw Marinett poke her head out and lick her lips. Tikki took the warm buttery croissant and gently tore it in half, giving it to Marinette who smiled gratefully.
Tikki quickly finished after that and set the empty plate next to Sabine, giving her a kiss on the cheek. "Bye Maman, I'm off to school, love you."
"By darling, have a nice day at school." said Sabine to her 'daughter'.
Tikki smiled successfully and thought she'd triumphantly passed the parent test, that is, until she smelled the croissants and cookies. She wavered at the smell of those fresh baked cookies, she hadn't had cookies like these until she had Marinette as an owner, and she liked cookies. Well she might as well say bye to Marinette's father...
"Good Morning Papa!" She smiled cheerily as she entered the bakery part of the house.
"Good morning sweetheart. Getting an early start today?" Marinette's father, Tom, said while pulling a pan of croissants out of the oven and setting it down on the counter next to endless treats, including cookies.
"Actually yes." Tikki said leaning against the counter and Tom hummed in acknowledgment. "I was wondering if I could bring some treats to school for my friends, preferably croissants and cookies." She asked.
"Of course, do any of these friends happen to be Adrien." Tom said in a teasing manner. Luckily he was turned away because he didn't see the lack of blush from Marientte.
"O-oh, y-yeah." Tikki stutterd, though for a completely different reason than Tom probably thought.
"Here you go." Tom handed 'Marinette' a bag with three fresh croissants and five warm cookies. "Tell him I said hi." he said as Marinette took the bag and he turned back to his work.
"Thank you Papa, I will" she ended in a sing-song voice and began running across the street to Marinette's school.
Instead of going straight in she found a fairly hidden part of the stairway and sat down. However, she didn't have to worry too much because she was early.
Yes, early for Alya or any of her other friends to be there yet, but right on time for the sleek silver car to pull up and let out the god inside. Depends how you see it.
8:15 a.m. With Adrien and Plagg
Plagg didn't want to work. In fack, his goal in his incredibly long kwami life was to lounge around with his owner eating camembert and do the least transformations possible. That's why he had to get out of this body right away.
Adrien Agreste may be a rich model with all the girls after him, but the kid worked his butt off. And Plagg definitely didn't want to deal with his father, Gabriel Agreste.
As soon as Adrien went in his bag, he wanted to gag. The inside reeked with the stench of Camenbert. He knew it smelled like that, but being at the source of the problem really heightened the sense of it.
Halfway down the stairs, Adrien accidentally phased through his bag, probably in hopes of getting away from the smell, and caught Plaggs attention.
"What are you doing, I thought you said 'Don't mess up!'," Plagg said to Adrien who was now hovering next to him.
"Sorry, accident. That's so cool." Adrien said phasing back into the bag while Plagg continued down the stairs.
"Well it gets less cool after a few centuries." Plagg muttered and turned into the large dining room where Natalie and food were waiting. Plagg also hoped that he would not meet Adrein's father during this time span.
As soon as he walked through the doors, he knew it was too late as Gabriel Agreste sat at the end of the table chewing some food while looking at his latest designs on a tablet.
Plagg paused and his eyes widened when he saw the infamous father and fashion designer sitting there. He didn't normally eat with Adrien, so why now? Why today?
He saw Adrien's seat on the opposite end of the table and hesitantly went to sit down. As he did, he set down in the bag with Adrien in it beside him then began to eat, not looking away from Gabriel in case he looked up.
Adrien had felt the hesitance in Plaggs movements and popped out of the bag for a moment to see what was wrong. He had a clear view under the table so he gasped lightly when he saw another pair of legs sitting at the end chair. What was his father doing there?
Part of Adrien was jealous his father would eat with Plagg today and part of him was scared Plagg would mess up badly.
"So Adrien." Gabriel said, still not looking up but making both their hearts stop all the same. Plagg took a second to recover and another to realize he was talking to him.
'Uhhhhh' he wondered what to say. "Yes, Father?" Plagg decided that was appropriate and what Adrien would say.
Gabriel set down his fork and tablet on the table and looked up at 'Adrien'. "I- What have you done to your hair!?" He said, making both Adrien and Plagg widen their eyes in shock and confusion.
"My hair?" Plagg said, cocking his head to the side slightly as he was not expecting that from Gabriel, much less the expression he was giving him right now.
"Natalie! Fix this catastrophe right away!" He said standing up from his seat. Both Plagg and Adrien inwardly chuckled at the unintentional pun. And then Natalie came in with a comb and fixing gel.
"Of course sir!" She said and began doing Adrien's hair at the dining table.
"As I was saying." Gabriel sat back down and straightened his tie. "I came to breakfast today because I had something I wanted to tell you in person. I have a business trip where I'll be gone for a couple of days and I wanted to make sure you know this isn't an excuse to flaunt your duties. Natalie will be coming with me so you'll only have the Gorilla and our other staff. Be responsible." He finished glaring lightly as a threat.
Natalie had finished his hair in the middle of the speech and so Plagg nodded, but he was curious about something. "And what will you be doing on this business trip father?" He asked.
Adrien cringed but he had to admit he was curious too, his father barely left the house so what now?
"I have to catch butterflies- uh Business men. I'm recruiting business men to akumatize- I Mean, monetize the American part of the company." Gabriel said, obviously floundering his speech slightly.
Natalie, who was standing off to the side, gave Gabriel a strange look and Adrien and Plagg only blinked obliviously even though slightly surprised by the sputtering Gabriel.
"Uhh... I have to go." Gabe said recovering back to his usual confident posture and stern expression. "You should get to school, wouldn't want to be late." he was now standing up ready to leave.
"Okay." Plagg said, not quite sure what else to say. Then Adrien's father walked out without another word.
'That was strange' Plagg and Adrien thought. However, their thoughts were interrupted by the robotic Natalie's voice. "Adrien, I just wanted you to know you don't have any scheduled photo shoots in the next three days, you'll just be expected to do your usual chinese and piano practice after school, with your homework of course." She said and left the room as he finished his breakfast.
A few seconds later he stood up, putting his bag over his head and heading out the door to get in the silver car that was waiting to take him to school.
Once they got in the car, Adrien and Plagg gave each other confused looks and sat quietly throughout the ride. They soon pulled up in front of the school and Adrien hid again so Plagg could get out.
(So? Was it funny?
I just couldn't resist doing that with HawkDaddy.
On to the next chapter...
