talking nasty
YALL DONE GAVE ME LIFE. 200k READS¿ THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.
Nikki's POV
"What took you so long BellaBear?" Dean asked as I tiredly entered the waiting room.
"The elevator was out and I had to take the stairs." I said as I walked over to him, sitting in between him and Seth, "God, I need to work out more."
"You work out anymore and you'll be as skinny as my pinky finger." He commented back to me.
"You got chubby fingers." I say while grabbing his hand.
"I got slender finger." He said while kissing the back of my hand, "You should know by now because I have no troubles slipping them in your-"
"La la la la la la la!" Seth shouted loudly as he clamped his hands over his head, "La la la la la la! La la la la la la la-"
"Will you shut up?" Dean said while shoving Seth's arm.
"Will you stop talking nasty?" Seth questioned him, "Geez I don't wanna hear about what you to do when they lights are off and the doors are closed."
Dean scrunched his noes, "Why wait for the lights to go off? Nikki's got the body of a fucking model. I love it."
Seth rolled his eyes, "Stop. Speaking. Dean."
I laughed and squeezed Dean's hand tightly and he smirked at the contact.
"Stop messing with your brother." I said to him, "Besides, I rather you keep that information to yourself."
"I can't help it that I wanna show you off." He told me and I gave a small smile just as our raven haired friend entered the room with beads of sweat on her forehead.
"You alright?" Seth asked as he reached for her but she immediately backed away from him.
"Don't touch me." She shooed him, "I'm literally covered in sweat. But yes, I'm fine."
"How's Summer?" Dean asked her.
"Premature labor." Paige said to her.
"What?" Seth asked, "She said she was only 5 months?"
"She can't have that kid yet." Dean mumbled, "You can't have a kid that early... can you?"
"Relax." Paige told them as she plopped in a chair next to me, "She doesn't have much of a choice. Premature birth happens often within teenage pregnancies. She's gonna have to have a C-section because she hasn't dilated much at all and with her oxygen levels being as low as they are, she needs to give birth in order for the baby to be healthy enough to survive."
"So there's a possibility the baby couldn't make it?" Seth asked.
"There's always a chance." She said with a sigh, "There's a chance Summer won't make it. There's always a chance of things going wrong. But you just gotta believe they won't."
"What does Summer think of all this?" I asked her.
Paige gave a small laugh, "She's hurting and exhausted but... I don't know, I think I gained a bit of respect for her while being back there. She's pretty determined to make it out of surgery with a healthy baby boy. I've never actually seen Summer do anything but tear other people down, so seeing it was a change, but it's a change for the better. I wish her well."
Dean sighed, "I hope she's alright. I mean, I don't like Summer, but she doesn't deserve to lose her kid because I dislike her."
"Guys." I heard a voice comment and we looked towards the door of the waiting room to see Kevin standing there along with Renee, Alicia and Wade, "Where's Summer?"
"She's about to go into surgery." Paige told him and panic spread across Kevin's face as he entered the room, my eyes falling on his hand where is was gripping bouquet of flowers.
"What happened to her?" He asked softly, "She's alright... right."
Paige gave him a reassuring smile, "I think she's gonna be ok Kev. We just gotta wait."
He sighed, but seemed to calm a bit after hearing Paige's tone.
I smiled at her, "You're handling this well."
Paige sighed, "If I've learned anything from working here is that panicking makes nothing better. Panicking is just a feeling that is associated with a mood. If you keep everyone calm, things to turn out better."
"You sure you don't want to go into the medical field?" I asked her and she laugh before shaking her head.
"Hell no." She said, "Its not the career for me... Hey, Kevin, what's with the flowers."
"Well he though the girl was on death row or something." Wade said while rolling his eyes, "He forced me to stop and pay for these things at the flower shop on the way here."
"Shut up." Alicia said while hitting him on the arm, "Its sweet."
"Yeah." Renee said while plopping down in one of the chairs, "I wanna man that buys me flowers."
Kevin sighed, "I bought them because I though I was gonna get to see her."
"Wait," Dean asked, "You and Summer talk? Is this the girl you refused to tell us about at first?"
He sighed, then groaned, then repeated the process before throwing the flowers on the coffee table and gripping his hair.
"I don't know what we are." He mumbled, "I... like her and I don't know if she likes me or not... great, I sound like a fucking Disney channel show. This is why I don't talk about my feelings!"
Seth shrugged, "Can you make her laugh?"
Kevin scoffed, "I'm the funniest guy on the planet Rollins, of course I can make her laugh."
"Can you make her smile?" Seth asked him again.
"Isn't smiling associated with laughing?" Kevin asked while rolling his eyes.
"Can you make her happy?" Seth asked him.
"Can you stop asking me dumb questions?" Kevin asked him as he plopped down in a chair.
Seth rolled his eyes, "Don't worry Kevin. Summer just loves you too."
"Ya really think so Seth?" Kevin asked with a smile and I laughed.
"Kevin doesn't have anything to worry about." Renee said, "If any girl willingly texts him throughout the day, she likes him."
Paige laughed, "Everything's gonna turn out fine Kevin. I'll take you back to see her when my mom texts me to tell me that she's out."
"I'm holding you to that Bevis." Kevin mumbled as he sunk into the chair.
"Just relax Kev-O." Dean said to him, "It'll be alright."
I smiled and rested my head on Dean's shoulder and he gripped my hand.
"It feels like we stay in this waiting room." He commented.
"Tell me about it." I responded with a laugh, "We're here more than were at school."
He laughed, "Yeah... we'll be back next week."
"Don't jinx us."
"No. I'm not jinxing us. We will be back next week."
I raised my head up a bit and gave him a confused glance, "For what?"
"Benny's surgery." He told me and a smirk appeared on his hand as my eyes widened.
"You're lying." I say while shoving his shoulder, "You're lying to me. Don't lie to me Dean. I'm about to start freaking out right now."
"Well start freaking out because this isn't a lie babe." He said and I nearly squealed, "Paperwork has to get done, and Megan said she's working on it, but once it's done they set a date and a time."
"I'm so excited." I said with a wide smile, "Oh my gosh this is just freaking awesome."
"Tell me about it." Dean said with a small laugh as he rubbed my shoulder, "I'm gonna buy him some toys and coloring books when I get my check."
"I can get those." I told him and he raised a hand.
"I can handle it." He said, "But maybe you could buy Sarah a doll or something so she won't get jealous."
"On it." I say with a small laugh as I lay my head back on his shoulder, drifting off slightly to the hustling and bustling sounds of the hospital.
%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%
"What the hell do you mean you found her?" I heard a voice say and I groaned a bit at the noise.
"I went into the bathroom and she was-"
"How the hell do we know you didn't do something to my daughter?" The first voice interrupted another voice.
"Hold on, excuse me? Why on God's earth would I-"
"Cause it'd be something a person like you would do!" The voice shouted again and I groaned slightly once again, "You'd go around and put a bad name on me and my family-"
"Excuse me Mrs.Bella." I heard Dean's voice say and my eyes immediately snapped open, "But shut the fuck up."
"Excuse me?!" I recognized my mothers voice shout in a icy tone.
I groggily rubbed my eyes and sat up with a yawn, what appears to be Dean's leather jacket falls off of me and onto the floor.
I currently sat on a small couch in a waiting room, unsure of how I had gotten here, but soon remember the situation from earlier.
In the chair next to me sat a sleeping Seth, covered in Dean's grey hoodie. A little ways down, Kevin lay sleep on the floor while Wade slept what seemed uncomfortably in one of the chairs along with Alicia and Renee, who had somehow managed to fall asleep cross legged in the small chairs.
"Listen." I heard Dean's voice say, "I don't give a damn who you are. You could be a singer, actor, or the president, but sadly, you're the mother of my girlfriend. And I don't care if you are that or not. You're not going to disrespect my friend like that, especially when she could have just very well saved your daughters life."
My eyes shot in the direction of the voices to see my mother, Dean, and Naomi standing near another group of chairs.
"Mom?" I asked confusedly and all of their eyes shot to me. Naomi giving me a worried glance while my mother glared at me, all the while, Dean glaring at my mother.
"You have some nerve." My mother shot at me as she marched over to me, grabbing me by the arm and practically yanking me out of the couch
I immediately yanked my arm from her once I had found my balance, "What the heck is wrong with you?"
"How the hell could you let this happen Nicole?" She shouted at me.
"What are you even talking about right now?" I asked, more confused now than ever.
"You know exactly-" my mother started to shout but Dean interrupted her.
"Bitch, shut up." He growled lowly, "You're going to wake up the entire freaking hospital."
"Can someone please explain to me what's going on?" I asked them, becoming a bit frustrated.
My mother simply scowled at me again while Naomi have a worried glance to Dean.
"Nik..." Naomi said softly while glancing down at her hands, "I... I went to the bathroom and I... I... she was just..."
"Who?" I questioned as a nurse walked into the room.
"Party of Brianna Bella?" The woman asked and my eyes immediately shot to my mother who had closed her eyes and sighed.
"That would be me." She said to the woman and she walked over to us.
"What's going on?" I said in a such a hushed tone, I doubted anyone heard me.
The nurse gave my mom a small smile, "Everything's going to be alright Mrs.Bella. You're blessed that the situation turned for the better, and quickly at that. She's awake and recovering, but she still seems a bit dazed. Now, we require that suicidal patience stay under our watch for at least 48 hours, but she should be on her way home soon."
"What?" I asked quickly and the nurse jumped at my sudden tone.
She tried to give me a reassuring smile, "You must be Nicole, correct? She mumbled a thing or two about you. You can go see her if you like, I can lead the way."
My mother raised a hand, "That would be lovely... just... give us a moment."
"Yeah." I said coldly as I glared at my mom, "Just one moment."
"I'll be at the front desk when your ready." She said to us with a smile, clearly not sensing the tension between us, or just choosing to ignore it.
As she left the area, I continued to glare holes into my mother.
"Someone wanna explain?" I said coldly, "Before I have a heart attack."
"Why don't you ask your friend." My mom told me with a glare and my eyes shot to Naomi.
"What happened?" I asked her plainly, unsure of what she'd say.
Naomi sighed, "I went to the bathroom during 6th period... I walked in and just saw her laying there on the ground and I got scarred. I feel like I wasted so much time trying to shake her to see if she'd wake up and she wouldn't. I ran to go get a teacher, but I just felt obligated to stay there with her."
"What did she do?" I asked quietly and Naomi frowned.
"I saw a lot of pills on the ground." She mumbled, "I kinda got the gist of it..."
I closed my eyes for a moment before sighing, keeping them closed as I felt a hand wrap around my own.
"I'm so confused right now." I said as I squeezed my eyes shut tightly.
"Maybe you should just go see her." Dean said softly while he brushed his thumb over the back of my hand.
I was quiet for a moment before nodding, then glancing at my mother, "You coming or not?"
She made no comment, but simply walked towards the desk where the nurse sat.
"We'll be here when you get back." Dean told me while letting my hand go and I nodded before following my mother.
"Right this way." I heard the nurse say as she lead us down the hall.
It felt like it took forever to reach the room, but maybe that because my mind was overfilled.
She tried to kill herself?
She tried to kill herself...
Brianna Bella.
My twin sister, Brianna Bella.
The over confident, has it all, perfect Brianna Bella... tried to kill herself.
This is a dream.
No, it's a nightmare.
This can't possibly be real.
Brie wouldn't. She couldn't.
But she did...
How?
Why?
She never acted like she was going through anything.
Nothing ever seemed wrong with her.
She always acted like bratty ole Brie.
Same ole mean Brie.
Same ole bully Brie.
But there was obviously something else going on.
Something that none of us knew.
Why didn't she say anything?
But what person who wants to die actually states it?
"She right in here." The woman said once we had reached the door, "She should be awake. But take it easy with her, she doesn't really say much, but that may change once she sees you."
My mother nodded as the nurse opened the door for us, then walked down the hallway as the door closed behind us.
The moment my eyes fell on Brie they began to water.
She lay in the bed, head on the pillow and her head facing the left towards the window, not acknowledging us at all.
Her face was a bit pale, and every ounce of confidence that she had once possessed seemed to have disappeared.
The three of us remained silent for a long time, none of us attempting to address the elephant in the room.
I glanced at my mother to see her looking towards the ground, saying nothing for the longest.
I looked back in the direction of Brie and let out a shaky breath, "I wanna ask a lot... but I just wanna ask if you're ok?"
"She better be." My mother finally spoke, "How could you do this Brianna?"
"Mom-" I tried to say to her but she stopped me.
"No, Nicole." She said with a shaky breath the looked back at Brie, "How could you do this to us? How could you do this to me? After all I've done for you over these years, this is how you repay me? Trying to fucking kill yourself? Do you realize that your disgracing your family like this? Think about how this makes me and your father look Brianna!"
"Are you kidding me-" I started to shout but she cut me off again.
"And you just let her didn't you?" My mom shouted at me, "You probably knew about this all along and didn't give a damn. How could you do your sister like that Nicole? How could both of you do me like this? Do you know what people will think of me when they find out one of my daughters tried to kill herself?"
"You mean they'll finally see just how 'good' of a mother you truly are?" A weak voice filled the room and both of our eyes shot towards Brie who was still looking out the window.
"Death would have been a lot better than sitting here and listening to you bitch, moan, and complain about how you think I make you look. I don't give a damn how I make you look. I don't give a damn how I make anyone in this fucking family look." Brie said in a soft yet low voice, head still facing the window, "If I made you look like a fucking idiot then blessith be God, I finally did something right."
"Brianna I cannot believe-" she started to say but she stopped her.
"No," Brie said to her, "I cannot believe that I've spent the last 18 years pretending that your my mother when your really just a visitor in a house that we share. I'm surprised your even here right now Amanda. Shouldn't you be in some meeting? Or half way around the world having some affair with some man while dad does the same thing to you with some woman from Europe. Divorces are alive and well, file one."
My eyes widened at her words and my mothers mouth dropped.
"I can't believe-" she started to say again and Brie stopped her.
"We've already stated what we can't believe mother." Brie said to her, "You may want to run along now. I wouldn't want to disappoint you any further."
My mother glared at her before opening her mouth to speak, then closing it. Then repeating the process three more times before glaring and walking out of the room, leaving me and Brie alone.
"Might wanna leave too." She said quietly, "Wouldn't wanna disappoint you either."
"It's gonna take a lot more than that to get me out of here." I spoke softly as I approached her bed.
"Whatever extent it is I'm sure I'll make you angry enough to leave." She said quietly, still facing the window, "It wouldn't be the first time."
I was silent for a moment as I sat on the edge of the bed, "Brie... what happened?"
"Isn't it obvious?"
"That's not what I meant." I say with a sigh, "Why... why would you do this?"
"I have to have a reason now?" She asked, "Maybe I just wanted to. That's my reasoning. I was sick of living."
"We both know that isn't true." I say to her.
"And why isn't it?" She questioned me coldly, "Huh? Why couldn't I have just been tired? Is it because the mean girl never gets tired? Because 'little miss popular' never has a problem. Bullshit. Stereotypical bullshit."
"I'm a bitch, Nikki." She told me, "I'm a bitch to everyone I know and maybe I'm tired of being a bitch. Maybe I'm tired of making fun of people and calling people names and tormenting people's lives."
"Then just stop." I say to her and she let out a short laugh.
"Sounds easy enough." She told me, "But when you have a freaking demon inside of you trying to dictate your every move, every word, and every action, it's a bit hard. Besides, people don't except change too well."
For the first time today, she stopped looking at the mirror and looked directly at me.
"I don't even know why I'm trying to explain." She told me before rolling back over, "You probably think I'm crazy. You wouldn't understand."
"Then make me understand." I tell her.
"Why do you care?" She said plainly.
"Because."
"Because isn't an answer."
"Because I'm your sister." I say to her, "And I don't give a damn if you were off your rocker, I wanna help you."
"Oh gimme a break." She mumbled, "you're probably getting a kick out of this."
I was quite for a moment before simply looking at her, "You really think I'm enjoying this?"
"Why wouldn't you be?" She questioned, "I deserve this right?"
"Why would you think that Brie?" I questioned her, "Nobody deserves this. Not you, not anyone. I don't wanna see anything happen to you. Yeah, we butt heads a lot, but your still my sister. My twin sister at that."
"Yeah your evil twin that makes you and your friends life a living hell." She mumbled, "But fun fact is that no matter how much you and everyone else hates me, I hate myself three times more, and nobody can do anything about that."
I was quite for a moment before sighing, "I don't hate you."
She was quite and I continued to speak to her.
"Brie, I don't know what's going on in your head." I say to her, "And I can't help if you don't let me. Forget about our differences. I wanna help you. I mean that Brie, I don't wanna lose you... so just talk to me, ok? I love you. I wanna see you healthy. I wanna see you happy. You said you wanna stop being a bitch, but that's hard, then let me help. I can help. I can correct you when your wrong, you just have to be willing to take criticism. Yeah, people will judge you for trying to change your ways, but who cares? Let me help you Brie."
She stayed quite for a moment, still looking out the window. After a few seconds, I saw her lip begin to quiver before she closed her eyes, a tear falling immediately.
"Hey." I say while grabbing her hand and squeezing it tight, trying to keep my own tears from falling, "It's alright Brie. I'm here for you ok? If you never have anybody else, you got me".
She gave a small nod before sitting up slightly. I immediately stretched out my arms and wrapped them around her.
"It's ok." I tell her as her hair covered her face, "We're headed in a better direction Brie."
Seconds later, there was a knock on the door and Brie let go while I called for whoever it was to come in.
Moments later Dean entered the room with a small smile, holding the door open for a moment.
"I'm pretty sure we could get in trouble for this." Dean said as he held the door open, "But guess who we kidnapped from the third floor?"
I raised a eyebrow before seeing Kevin roll Summer into the room who was was holding a small bundle in her arms. She looked exhausted, yet happy.
"Ladies, meet Tristan Beau Rae." Kevin said and Summer smiled as she looked down.
"He's a tiny little fella." Dean commented, "Less than 4 pounds. But none the less, he's here with a steady heartbeat and he breaths well. Nothing less than a miracle baby if you ask me."
Brie's eyes landed on Summer and never left her as Kevin wheeled her further into the room, "You had him?"
Summer immediately look up as though she hadn't realized we were in the room, and truth be told, she probably hadn't.
Summer looked at Brie, then gave a small nod.
"You're early." Brie said softly, "Way early. You weren't due till June."
Summer nodded, "I know... he's so tiny... but he's healthy. He can breathe well. They let me feed him, but then they take him back so they can monitor him to make sure he's going to be alright."
Summer looked back up at her, "You wanna hold him?"
I glanced at Brie who eyes the child in her arms before slowly nodding.
Kevin gently took the baby into his arms, smiling down at him before gently placing him in Brie's arms.
A small smile came to my lips as I looked down at the baby in her arms.
He was small like Summer had said, but still managed to look as precious as he could be. He wore a tiny bennie on his head and his eyes were bright and wide and his little feet kicked in the blanket he was wrapped in.
"Geez he's hyper." I say with a small smile as he made a small noise, causing Brie to give a small smile.
"All that kicking he's doing is what he's been doing to my rib cage for the past 5 months." Summer said and we all have a small laugh.
Brie said nothing, but smiled as she handed the baby back to Kevin who seemed happy to taken him in his arms.
"Hey Tristan." Kevin said as he walked the baby back towards Summer, "Tristian. Hey, look at me buddy."
Dean smiled before walking over towards me, "He acts like he's the father honestly."
"Well he'd make a better father than the original one." I said and he nodded, then looked at Brie.
"You alright?" He asked her and she only gave a slight nod.
"Yeah, she's alright." I say as I grab Brie's hand and squeeze it, "She will be. We'll all be."
