Roman's POV

"Sing to me."

"Doe, Rae, Me, Fa, No, La, Ti, Doe."

"Unimpressive."

"Like your sense of humor, intelligence, pull out game-"

"Will you shut up?" I whisper shouted as I covered my hand over Naomi's mouth and she let out a small chuckle, "And you're a complete and utter liar."

She didn't respond as I took my hand from over her mouth, now allowing my arm to drape over her while she held onto it.

I let out a huff as I stretched out my legs over the couch in an attempt to adjust into a more comfortable position as the nagging sore in my back grew to become a bit more intolerable. After a day at school, then coming to the hospital just to wait around, the day seemed to drag on longer than anybody anticipated it to.

We had been here for the majority of the afternoon to show our support, and as far as I know there hasn't been any bad news.

That didn't make it any less boring.

Paige had crashed in one of the chairs while Seth only seemed semi awake himself. Brie sat quietly in one of the chairs a little ways away from us. Dean and Nikki also remained silent as they sat in chairs right next to each other, Sarah drowsily laying her head on Nikki's shoulder.

The only two people that would actually speak would be Naomi or myself. The conversation would be short, usually in a whisper between the two of us. Nothing serious, just something to break the silence.

"Is he okay or not?" Sarah questioned with a huff, "Seth gave blood hours ago. He should have been out by now."

"There probably letting him rest." I suggested while Nikki rubbed her back, "I'm sure he's fine Sarah."

"I'm not convinced until I see him." She protested while crossing her arms, "Why else would they be taking this long?"

"You gotta learn to think more positively kiddo." Dean sighed.

"Me? Positive? Only in a dream." She commented as she rose out of the chair, "I gotta go to the bathroom."

"You remember where it is?" Nikki asked and Sarah nodded.

"I've only used it 40 times today." She shrugged as she walked out of the room.

"She is something else." Naomi commented with a small laugh.

"I can't deny that." Dean commented as he stretched and leaned back in his chair, "Christ Almighty. What time is it?"

Naomi glanced at her phone, "7:05."

"We've actually been here all day." Nikki yawned.

"Look," Dean commented, "You guys don't have to stick around. You all can go home. Paige can take Nikki and Brie home. Nae can drop off Roman and Seth cause I obviously need the truck to get back to the house."

"Nah." Naomi commented.

"We're good here." Seth piped in as Paige stirred a bit next to him.

"You sure?" Dean commented, glancing in Brie's direction.

She didn't say anything but gave a small smile and one thumbs up.

Dean gave a small smile back before sitting back in his chair again, "Then I guess we're all roughing it out."

"Ambrose?" Called a voice seconds later and all of our heard snapped towards the entrance of the waiting room.

"That's me." Dean said as he stood up, the nurse approaching him with a clipboard in hand, "How is he?"

"Oh he's going to be fine dear." The woman told him with a smile, "The surgery was a success. He's stable and recovering. It took a lot of energy out of him but that normal. Now, we're gonna keep him here for a while. Watch him, run some more test just to make sure everything's alright. But other than that he's all good."

As the woman spoke you could see the relief wash over Dean and I couldn't help but to smile.

"Sarah's gonna lose it when she gets back." Dean smiled to himself.

"That his sister?" The nurse asked.

"Basically." Dean nodded with a small laugh.

"And you must be his brother." The nurse smiled.

Dean shook his head, "I'm not. I just... help watch over them."

The nurse raised a brow, "Are you sure?"

"I'm positive." Dean assured her.

"So you didn't donate the blood?" She asked him.

"That was me." Seth piped in and gestured to the bandaid on his arm, Paige stretching beside him as she sat upright.

"Oh so you're his brother?" The nurse said with a nod, "Makes more sense now. You two have the same eyes."

"Benny's not my brother." Seth said with a raised eyebrow and the nurse matched his expression.

"But the test we ran for the blood were almost identical." The nurse muttered then shook her head, "You two aren't related in any way? Not even cousins? You sure you're not brothers?"

Seth shook his head, "I'm an only..."

"What life changing discovery did you just find out?" Naomi questioned and Dean let out a small laugh.

"Hush." Seth mumbled, "Mom did have another kid."

"Did she really?" I asked and he nodded.

"Yeah." He commented, "She gave him up for adoption too. But she said he had gotten adopted early on."

"Benny said he had a Mom though." Dean told him, "But she passed away when he was younger."

Seth was quiet for a moment before shaking his head, "Maybe. Benny's from around here anyways right? Born here, raised here?"

"We didn't have any record of Benjamin being born here." The nurse told us, "Maybe he was brought here."

"Where was he born at?" Seth asked then looked at Dean, "Do you know."

"I don't." Dean mumbled, "Do you actually think he's your brother?"

"I..." Seth mumbled then shook his head, "I have no idea. Maybe I'm over thinking... I still want to know... where's Sarah? She'd know."

Dean looked around for a moment, then frowned, "She's still in the bathroom?"

"She's been in there for a while." Naomi mumbled as Nikki rose out of the chair.

"I'll go check on her." Nikki announced as she walked out the room.

I glanced over at Seth and frowned at the sight of him nervously bouncing his knee.

"You alright?" I asked and he let out a huff.

"I'm fine." He told me, "I just have an off feeling right now."

"About Benny?" I asked.

He stayed quiet for a moment before giving a small nod, "Yeah."

"Why are you worried?" Paige asked him, "So what if you are related? It's Benny. He's a sweetheart."

"It's just..." Seth started, then stopped, "Its so fucked up... we could be related and we come from two completely different lives. He's got the absolute worst of it. It makes me seem privileged."

I let out a small sigh and prepared to respond only to be cut off by Nikki.

"I can't find her." Nikki announced as she quickly walked back in the room.

"What?" Dean immediately questioned.

"The bathroom was empty." Nikki said quickly, "Every stall was empty."

"Maybe she used another one." Naomi commented but didn't sound too convinced herself.

"There's another bathroom at the end of this hall." The nurse told us, "She could have went there."

"Maybe." Nikki mumbled, "I'll go check."

"I'll come with you." Naomi announced as she rose up, "Paige, you wanna check a different floor? She like what? Nine? Maybe she decided to the the elevator to another floor just for the hell of it. Kids are weird."

"No problem." Paige commented as the two of them took off, "Come on Bella. You're coming with me."

The room was quiet for a moment and we all found ourself glancing at Brie who had raised a brow in surprise.

"You're talking about me?" She asked.

"I don't see another Bella in here." Paige commented with a small eye roll before heading out of the room, "Come on! A child is loose."

Brie stayed seated for a moment more, then slowly got up and followed Paige out of the room.

"Should we look around somewhere?" I questioned as I stood up, "She can't be far. She just went to the bathroom."

"Don't underestimate Sarah." Dean mumbled, "She's quick. She moves fast. There's no telling where she could have went."

"But running off isn't really something Sarah would do." Seth pointed out, "And she's too worried about Benny to go off anywhere far."

"How about we check around this floor?" I asked and Dean gave an unsure nod, "Come on man. She didn't go anywhere far alright?"

"Alright." Dean mumbled as he shoved his hands in his pockets, Seth rising out of the chair, "I should have made Nikki go with her."

"Don't beat yourself up over it." Seth told him as we walked out into the hallway.

The three of us walked together quietly, Dean calling out Sarah's name every few seconds, but gained no response.

"Where on earth is this kid?" I mumbled as Naomi and Nikki came into view, "Any luck?"

"She's not in that bathroom either." Nikki responded while crossing her arms, "I haven't got a text back from Paige but I don't think she's on that floor either."

"Maybe she went up to the top floor?" Naomi suggested, "Maybe she went all the way down to the bottom? Maybe she's playing in the elevator? I'm trying to put myself in the mind of a child."

"I get that but Sarah's pretty mature for her age." Seth pointed out.

"And she's still a little girl." Naomi countered, "Sometimes kids just wanna play around. It could be something to get her mind off of things."

I gave a small sigh as I glanced at Dean. His eyes were glued to his phone.

"I gotta go." He mumbled, then began patting his pockets, "I gotta go."

"Go where?" I asked as he pulled the keys out of his back pocket and without a word began to walk down the hallway, "Dean!"

I let out a huff as I followed him a short ways towards the elevator, "Dean-"

"I need you to stay here." He interrupted me as he turned around, "Keep everything under control. If they allow visitors to go see Benny, go back there. I'll be back."

"Where are you going?" I questioned as he pushed the down arrow.

"Don't worry about it." He mumbled, "I'll back back."

"Dean-"

"I said I'll be back." He shot at me, then sighed, "Just... help me out Roman. Please. Just keep everything under control."

I stayed quiet for a moment before sighing, "You promise your coming back?"

"I promise." He told me as the elevator dinged, "Just do me that favor, please Roman."

I frowned as I watched my board the elevator and immediately press a button. He ran his hands through his hair but made eye contact with me once more as the doors closed.

"Be safe Dean." I commented before the door separated the two of us.

He hadn't been able to give a response, but from the look in his eye he had seemed unsure himself.

I'm extremely upset because I had TWO chapters to post but one of them got deleted. So now I have to RETYPE THE ENTIRE THING 🙄

It's very frustrating because the next chapter is the LAST chapter of the third book.

... and a lot of things happen. A whole lot. So I'm sorry about not having two chapters up and I'll get on it.
