"Well I may not be able to go to your house but we can still...well nevermind this sucks"

Ruby said in defeat. It was after school, and the cheerleaders and Yugi were walking Ruby home. Yugi remained quiet as he noticed the neighborhood was getting worse and worse with every step.

"Then we'll go over to your place and say we have a project due by the end of the semester"

Denise said. Everyone thought for a minute before agreeing but Ruby object.

"I don't want anyone coming over to my house!"

She shouted as she stop walking.

"What's the worse that can happen?"

Melissa said.

"Oh geez, where did I hear that one before"

Ruby said sarcastically.

"The worse thing that we can do is let history repeat itself"

Yugi said.

"Then what do you propose we do?"

Rachel asked.

"How did you girls handle this before?"

He asked.

"We didn't, Ruby's mother came back and took Ruby"

"And this time what happen?"

Yugi asked to Ruby.

"My mom and Jeff got back together but now they broke up"

"So your mom just left you with your stepdad"

"Yup"

"Ruby, tell Yugi the rest"

Rachel said seriously. Ruby looked to Rachel sternly.

"I don't think..."

"Jeff sells Ruby to sleep with guys"

Rachel said causing Yugi to look to Ruby in surprise while Ruby glared at Rachel.

"Why would you just blurt that out? Yugi just asked me to be his girlfriend not too long ago and you drop this bombshell on him. What kind of friend are you?!"

Ruby said angrily.

"Yugi had to know, it's better he knows sooner instead of him finding you in the streets"

Rachel said sternly.

"I think it's time for us to go"

Alex said as she motion for the rest of the girls to follow leaving Yugi and Ruby alone. The moment was quiet until Ruby sadly looked at Yugi.

"You can't save me from this, I am on my own"

She said. Yugi cleared up his throat.

"But it's not..."

He began to say but Ruby cut him off.

"Well he's all I got, the only family I have left. My mom didn't want me, my biological Dad didn't want me, so Jerry was the next best thing even if...if he..."

Sam said trailing off before shaking her head giving Yugi a confident look.

"But nevermind that, as long as I have a place to crash and do what he says then I will just be a happy girl"

She said.

"Ruby... that's not right"

Yugi said quietly.

"So? Who cares if it's right or wrong? As long I do what I'm told then everything will be dandy. Now come on, I want to talk about something else, I don't have much time"

She whispered the last words to Yugi's ear.

"Why do you act like everything's okay?"

He said causing Ruby to glare at him harshly.

"It's not an act!!

She snarled.

"It's who I need to be. And this... This is my escape!"

She said taking a twirl around the broken decaying buildings around them.

"Where I can forget about it all! How much I hate... everything"

She said sadly as she stood in front of Yugi.

"A place where I can get high, and not have to think about how much it hurts. And maybe... If I can ruin myself enough in the process... if I end up broken, I won't be his favorite toy anymore... And maybe he'll let me go..."

She said with a small sob as Yugi quickly embraced her as she began to sob. After a while, Ruby began to calm down before finally taking a deep breath and gently pulled away from Yugi who sadly remained looking at her.

"Come on, my place isn't as bad as this"

"You still don't understand, I can't leave"

"Why not?"

"I'll be all alone"

"But we're together in this"

"And just how long do you think this will last? If we get into another argument, you will still have a place to stay and I won't. I can't take that chance and lose everything that I have right now"

She said with her head low. Soon the sound of a familiar honk caused Ruby to gasp as she looked up to see her stepfather's car.

"Oh no, Yugi you have to go"

She said immediately. Yugi was about to protest until a man walked up to them wrapping his arms around Ruby's shoulder causing her to freeze up.

"Well hello, who do we have here?"

The man asked. Ruby sadly looked to Yugi.

"Just a friend"

"Hmm a friend, is he..."

"Going home"

Ruby said cutting him off with a slight attitude causing the man to squeeze her shoulder.

"Now now don't be rude, can I have a word with you my dear"

He said pulling Ruby to an alley.

"I didn't know that... Jeff I..."

Ruby began to say but was cut off by the man.

"You really think you can have your little bitch fight your battles for you?"

He said as he pushed her hard against the brick wall

"Aah! Jeff, please, I'm sorry he..."

"You bring him here to protect you? To fuck with me?"

He said as he grabbed a hand full of her hair pulling it down towards his private.

"Ow! Jeff, stop!"

"You think he can get you out of work?"

"No, no that's not what I'm trying to do. No!"

She pleaded.

"You know he can't do anything, I own you. Or have you forgotten that?"

He said as he pulled her up, grabbing hold of her jaw tightly.

"No"

She said with a whine.

"When I say "come", you say..."

"Yes, Jeff"

"When I say "you are fucking 20 guys before lunch" you say..."

"Yes, Jeff"

"When I say "you better get that fucking CUNT, out of my turf" you say..."

"I..."

"You, say!"

"Look, Jeff he just had questions about our homework assignment. I'll, I'll tell him to leave. Just don't hurt him."

She pleaded on the verge of tears.

"I have KILLED bitches for less than this attitude you're giving me, you are LUCKY you make me money. Now, you're going to go get rid of him and then you're working all night! Get me?"

He shouted as he let Ruby go.

"Yes, Jeff"

Ruby said as she quickly walked out of the alley to tell Yugi to leave immediately.
