Chapter 3: Unsolved

Y/N's POV:

"Let me through!" Chat's voice rang around me in my dream. People rushed around me, as if not noticing me. "What's all the panic?" I yelped, dodging a man who barreled done on me. Maybe I should just see what everyone's so interested in, I thought, moving around people. The crowd got thicker and thicker as I came to where a circle of people stood.
"Move! I need to get through!" Chat yelled again.
"Chat? Are you here?" I shouted, but there was no answer. I swallowed back another scream before shoving past the last of he people. There, in the middle of the circle, laid a body. I froze, my throat suddenly dry. My eyes searched the body, finding a dark red stain on the back of it's shirt. On the other side of the circle, Chat Noir burst out of the crowd. His muscles were tense as he stared down at the body.
Instantly he ran to it, kneeling down on one knee before embracing the body. As the head of the unknown rolled over I say my reflection. He air caught in my lungs made me cough and I could tell that I was turning pure white.
Chat Noir sat down in silence, the people around us disappearing. "Ch-Chat?" I stuttered, slowly taking a step forward. His shoulders started trembling and he hid his face in my dead body. "Chat, it's ok. I'm here." I reached out to touch his shoulder when he lifted his hand and grasped my wrist. This wasn't a gentle grip, it was tight and hurtful. I yelped out in pain and struggled to leave his cold black claws. But they held tight.
"Leave me alone. You're nothing but a ghost...," he whispered. Sparkling clear tears dropped from his face and I could tell he just wanted to be alone. I opened my mouth to say something, but quickly clamped it shut when he whipped his angered face to me.
"Didn't you hear me!? Leave me alone!" He screamed, pulling my arm to the ground. With that, I opened my eyes to a room.
Multicolored walls with many different shades filled my vision as I sat up, gasping for air. I blinked many times before realizing that it had all just been a nightmare.
"You ok?" I turned my head to where a small voice came from. A boy with golden blond hair and warm green eyes looked back at me with concern from the desk of his computer.
"Oh, uh..." I felt my face start to burn with embarrassment. "Hi, A-Adrien." Adrien's concerned frown turned to a welcoming smile.
"Hi. I heard that Chat Noir decided to drop you off here for tonight," he said, walking towards me from his computer.
I nodded, too afraid to try and say anything. "When do you suppose he'll be back?" I asked after a few moments of silence. He shrugged and hitched his thumbs in his packets.
"Not sure. Said he was busy for the morning. He'd be back later, though." I nodded and yawned a little.
Then I remembered I was on Adrien's bed. I yelped and scrambled off.
"What's wrong?" He asked, kneeling down to help me up.
"I-I-I... Er, nothing," I replied. Adrien giggled a little before letting me stand on my own.
"Are you hungry? I can ask for some food or something. We are at my house," Adrien offered. I blinked a moment before nodding.
"Yeah... Uhm... What do you have?" 15 minutes later, silver trays with matching silver covers were brought to Adrien's room. I had to hide up in the library balcony, looking at the trays with a watering mouth. When the last butler left, I ran down the stairs and bolted to the trays. I unsheathed the first tray, and found a plate full of french toast, drizzled with dark amber syrup and white flakes of powdered sugar. I grabbed a fork and a knife and started in on my breakfast.
"Good, huh?" Adrien asked, smiling. I nodded and kept eating. When I was finished, I moved on to another tray. Under the silver dome was a small bowl of colorful fruit. Strawberries, cantaloupe, water melon, and grapes were a sweet accent to the sugary sweet french toast. Finally, I had drawn back from my famishing hunger and crossed over to 'I am really, really full'. I sat back on the white couch, feeling like I'd been eating an entire horse.
"You ok?" Adrien's green eyes burned my skin as he stared at me with a smile. I nodded and sat up a little bit, pushing away the silver plates.
"So... What are you doing with Chat Noir?" Adrien burst out. I blinked at him and contemplated telling him.
"Well, we're looking for Marinette," I said flatly. In his eyes, I could see he steady knew this. But I didn't question it. Maybe he'd heard it from Alya.
"Yeah? How's the plan coming? Any clues?" He prompted, his gaze intensifying.
I shrugged. "Only a voicemail to Alya. She said you were out with her...," I flicked my gaze to him and tried not to look suspicious.

Chat Noir/Adrien's POV:

I dropped my own gaze to the floor remembering the sequence of events that happened. Me and Marinette were out for a walk along the outskirts of Paris, where forests lay in wait of adventure. Sure, I knew her general area, but I didn't go in there with her. "Did you hear that?" Marinette asked, staring into the forest.
"Marinette, we need to head back," I said skittishly. But she wouldn't move. After that, everything was a blur of panic and fear.
"Do you remember anything of Marinette's disappearance?" Y/N asked, bringing me back to the present.
I thought deeply about my answer for a second before shaking my head. "No. I can only remember that we were near a forest...," my voice dropped out and I let my stare fall to he ground.
"Ok. Well, I think I'd better be going. Chat Noir could be waiting for me," she said, standing. I nodded and helped her downstairs without being recognized by the many butlers and servants we had milling around the cold house. "Goodbye, Y/N," I said, bowing to her. "Hope you can find Marinette!" She nodded and waved to me as she raced down the steps that lead to my house and onto the sidewalks. I closed he door and bolted up to my room again. "Plagg, it's time to go," I whispered. He yawned, spiraling out of my jacket.
"Do we have to?" He asked. I rolled my eyes and nodded. "Plagg, claws out!"

Y/N's POV:

The warm sunny day was beginning to drop to a semi-sunny day with patches of gray and white clouds hovering in the sky. I walked down streets and past shops and people, looking for Chat. What a wonderful breakfast. I wish I could have that everyday... I wonder what Chat Noir had for breakfast. Of if he had any, I thought, guilt growing like an ivy vine around my heart.
"Y/N," a voice whispered. I turned and saw no one. I shrugged and walked on a few steps before stopping again. "Y/N!" This time, I looked up and saw the black kitty cat with green eyes, balancing on his staff that was stabbed into the side of the building. I smiled and waved before he reached down and picked me up, my feet flailing in the air.
"Stop fidgeting!" Chat hissed quietly. "It's harder to pick someone up than you might think." I nodded and looked down, a little embarrassed. Holding me close, he leapt up to the roof of the building. It's flat surface was comforting. "Be right back, stay here," he commanded, pointing to the ground.
"Ok," I said, sitting on the warm rooftop. Chat ran to the edge of the building again and and dove down, grabbing his staff, and climbing up to the top again.
"Good morning, Kitten," he purred, coming to greet me. "Sorry that I was a bit snippy before. It's just a little hard to carry someone up a building when they're struggling. How was your night?"
"It was fine, thanks, Chat," I said. "Where to now?"
"Well, let's go the outskirts of town. Adrien told me that he'd lost Marinette there..." his voice trailed off a moment, along with his stare. He stared up at the blue sky before shaking his head and rubbing the back of his head like he was embarrassed of being caught staring at something that wasn't really there.
"Ok. Then let's go!" I started toward the edge of the building before being stopped by Chat's hand. Resting on my shoulder, he pulled my attention back to him.
"Well, if we're going to be doing this a lot, I need to teach you how to move from building to building," he said, searching the various flattop buildings.
I blinked in surprise, then turned it into excitement.

"What about some fighting techniques, too, Chat?" Hours had passed, maybe four, since he had started training me. The summer sun was high above us, beating it's heat on our backs. Chat Noir's wild green eyes shimmered with amusement at my weak punches that I threw into the air.
"Maybe when we get to the forests, ok?" he purred with a flick of his tail. I nodded and got ready to go. Starting out on all fours, Chat leapt off first, landing on the ridge of the other building. I swallowed my fear and backed up a few steps. With a running start, I leapt out and over the busy streets with cars and people that passed with no notice to my efforts. Reaching out with my fingers hooked like claws, finding the edge of the  building and griping it... but just barely. I cringed as my eyes caught the sidewalk below me and how close I was to falling to it. Chat lunged forward and grabbed my wrist just as it slipped off the building. My teeth clamped together and I froze, remembering that it was hard on him to lift me up if I fidgeted.
"Almost, but practice makes perfect," he smiled and hauled me up to the top of the building.
"Sorry if I'm slowing us down...," I said, crossing my arms and looking at the ground.
"No, no! You're fine. I wouldn't want anyone else inParis to come with me to look for Marinette." It was at this moment that we realized that our faces were close and his hands were on my shoulders, staring endlessly into my eyes.
I blinked and soaked in the world of his electric green eyes and how cat-like they were. Without the mask on, did he have such beautiful green eyes? Were they complemented nicely by two black cuts that made his eyes look like cat eyes?
"Uhm... Let's get back to practicing," Chat broke the silence, his cheeks starting to get a rosy pink. He turned away and withdrew his arms to his sides. His black tail swung from side to side with his strides, but it hovered off the ground like it was alive like the rest of his body.

Chat Noir/Adrien's POV:

The sun slowly fell into the afternoon as me and Y/N steadily made out way to the outskirts of Paris. She's strong, I'll give her that. And she was getting better at jumping from building to building.
"Wanna take a rest?" I asked, hearing her huff out a breath. I glanced back at her and saw that her legs were starting to shake. But her eyes read determination.
"No way! We have to keep going," she grinned sharply. I smiled at her before stalking back to her. As soon as I came in front of her, she collapsed into my chest. Startled, I instinctively latched onto her arms and held her up. I stared into her bright E/C eyes.
"You ok?" I asked, blinking. Y/N nodded.
"I guess a break wouldn't hurt... Sorry, Chat," she giggled. I smiled and nodded.
"Can you walk? Or do you want me to carry you?" My heart felt like it was shaking in my chest. And for some odd reason, I wanted her to say for me to carry her.
"Uhmmm...," she said, breaking our stare. "Y-you can carry me... That's is if you want to." I had to use all my power not to let my throat rumble with a purr.
I nodded and scooped her up in my arms, bridal style, and started walking away to somewhere we could rest for a bit.
