Your First Day of School
"Come on, (Y/N)." Chloe waved you towards the long white limousine. Her friend Sabrina had been dropped off by her dad a few minutes ago and was already waiting for the both of you with the door open. You slipped in first, followed by Chloe, then Sabrina.
"We... Are... Going to... School," Chloe explained to you slowly, making symbols with her hands. She spoke to you like you were stupid, especially since you knew where you were going. But, it was actually helpful considering you didn't understand French perfectly. Chloe smiled over to Sabrina and put her sunglasses on to look out the window.
"It's so nice of you to host a foreign exchange student, Chlo," Sabrina giggled, waving to you like you were a child. You nodded your head to her and rested your chin on your hand. You kept your bag in your lap as they began to talk. You only caught a few words here and there like, "so cute... Adrien... school...".
When you arrived to the High School Sabrina opened the door and got out to hold it for you and Chloe. You didn't want to follow Chloe around like an idiot, but you had no choice. Not only did you not speak the language, but you had no idea where anything was, and it's not like you could ask for directions. You stuck out like a sore thumb and you couldn't understand why, just, somehow, you weren't French, and it was easy to tell.
You followed Chloe to the classroom, and as soon as you stepped through the teacher touched you on the shoulder. You turned to find a beautiful ginger woman with strong blue eyes. She smiled sweetly at you and led you to the front of the class, "Good morning, class." The class chorused back a greeting. "This is our new student from (country), why don't you introduce yourself?"
You nodded your head timidly and looked to the class. "Hello. My name is (Y/N) (L/N), and-"
Chloe stood up from her seat. She flipped her hair over her shoulder and grinned. "She's living with us! That's right! My father, the mayor of Paris, and I have graciously welcomed the little foreigner into our home!"
Miss. Bustier chuckled lightly to herself, and shook her head. "Thank you, Chloe, but please, let (Y/N) practice her French."
"My name is (Y/N), I'm from (country). I'll only be here for a year, then I go back... to... (country)." You chuckled nervously and forged a smile.
There was a polite round of applause for you as Miss. Bustier searched for a seat. There was only one in the back, next to a red-haired boy doodling in a notebook.
"Hmm..." Miss. Bustier tapped on her chin. "Well, we want you to get the full lesson, but all the seats in the front are taken."
In the front row, on your right, were two boys. On the other side was Chloe and Sabrina. You didn't expect either of them to give up their seats. Just as the blond boy in the front row raised his hand, the one next to him stood up.
"I got it Miss. B, she can sit in my seat."
The blond boy looked up at him with wide eyes. "You don't have to do that, Nino."
"No way, man. This is your first year in school, I'm not gonna make you sit in the back. Besides, I like it."
The blond boy smiled gratefully to Nino as he collected his belongings and went to the back next to a red-headed boy.
"Thank you," you said shyly to the boy. He responded kindly, but you weren't exactly sure what he had said. The blond then turned to look at you, you locked eyes.
For the first time you realized how handsome he was. He had beautiful, bright green eyes, and smooth skin. His lips were peachy, and a soft pink was dusted across his nose and cheeks. He gave you a closed lip smiled, but you could tell he was the type to have bright white teeth.
"Hi, I'm Adrien Agreste," he said kindly as you took your seat and set your bag on the ground.
"(Y/N) (L/N)," you responded, smiling back at him. "Nice to meet you." Though you felt as though you were hard to understand, he seemed to be patient and kind.
You felt eyes burning into the back of your head and turned to see Chloe and Sabrina sneering at you. You had just realized that this was the boy they had been talking about earlier in the limousine. They were right; he was cute. But, the program you had come for in your foreign exchange forbade dating with children in your "Host Country".
"I know a little English, so I can help you when you're here at school. Feel free to copy my notes, and I can always help you study." He spoke slowly, and not at all like he thought you were stupid. "Actually, here's my phone number." He tore off a piece of paper and scribbled his number as well as his email address, then slipped it over to you.
"Th-thank you, Adrien."
"You know," he whispered as Miss. Bustier announced she would be taking attendance. "I think it's--"
"Adrien Agreste?"
"Here." He quickly raised his hand and turned back to look at you. "I think it's pretty brave of you to come to France. It must be difficult to leave your parents and come here all alone."
You nodded your head, but you didn't understand exactly what he had said, and he seemed to have noticed. He pulled out a full sheet of paper and wrote out a sentence, you assumed it was what he had just said.
You read over it. "It is difficult, that's why I'm hoping to make friends."
He placed his hand over yours and gave you a soft look. "I'll be your friend, (Y/N), you can count on me for anything you need."
"Why are you so nice to me?" You bit your bottom lip nervously. And he chuckled lightly.
"I know what it's like to be new, and lost, and looking for friends. Besides, I know Chloe probably isn't going to do much for you."
You heard a loud exhale from behind you and turned to see a two girls whispering to each other fervently. The black-haired girl looked angry and confused, while the brown-haired girl seemed to be trying to calm her down.
"That's Alya and Marinette."
