There Are Others
URGENT! PLEASE READ.
A/N: I feel like I owe you guys an explanation as to the upcoming downfall of this book. I will do my best to continue it and update regularly and with good quality. But, I've recently separated from my husband- he's been overseas on deployment for the past year and a half, developing some serious anger issues and trauma. He's now going to therapy and I'm just trying to keep it together, my emotions have been all over the place for the past few days and it'll be difficult to write a romance story for a while. Pray for healing on both of us, and I would be so grateful if you stuck around because I do plan on writing a second book.
Sorry the chapter is short.
"Vladd! Ears--"
You felt your soul come out of your body and your stomach jump to your throat as you hit your back against something soft and springy. You slammed against it so hard that you were shot back up into the air.
Gasping, you finally stopped bouncing and you were frozen in your spot. Your hands were out to the side and you felt a sort of sticky string holding you in place. Chat Noir landed next to you and as soon as he could reach you he had yanked you into a forceful hug, holding you by the back of your head and forcing your face into the crook of his neck. You remained perfectly rigid, unable to move anything. You couldn't tell if you were breathing, you weren't sure if you were even alive.
The starry sky above you danced wildly as your eyes attempted to adjust themselves. A wave of nausea washed over you and your stomach lurched. It was a wonder you didn't throw up.
"Oh my goodness, (Y/N)!" he cried out painfully, rocking back and forth. "Are you okay?" He leaned backwards to look at your face. Your face was still frozen in shock and all the color in your cheeks was gone.Chat Noir pressed a kiss to your lips and hugged you again, this time you found the will to put one of your hands on his back.
"I-I'm not hurt." But you definitely weren't okay. Your voice was quiet, hoarse, as though your vocal chords were petrified.
The platform you were on began to bounce again, and you realized Ladybug had landed next to you. She knelt down and put her hand to your forehead. "I'm so sorry, (Y/N). You have every right to be mad at me." She bit her bottom lip and her eyes drooped in guilt.
You swallowed hard and pulled away from her. She sighed and turned away, crossing her arms. "Did you do this?" she asked you, making your eyebrows furrow. "Did you make this web?"
Before you could ask her what she was talking about a male figure landed beside her, except he landed so softly that the platform hardly bounced. "I made it," he said. The three of you stared at him in disbelief. Another hero.
He had to be about your age, maybe a little taller. A black suit covered his entire body, with a red hourglass shape on his chest. Web details covered is limbs and his mask was similar to Chat Noir's, except the eyes were a normal brown, and six extra decorative eyes dotted the outside of the mask. He had inky black hair streaked with red and slivers of white. His chest puffed out as he stood, showing off his muscles, and making Ladybug look even smaller.
"And good thing too, or your recklessness would have killed her," his voice was deep and even, making it even more nerve-wracking and mysterious.
"Who are you?" Ladybug questioned stiffly.
The boy glanced over to her, then eyed Chat Noir up and down, his eyes merely gazing over you quickly. "I don't have a name the way the both of you do- a name for the press to call you as you do acts of fame. I'm simply 'The Spider'." It wasn't a Miraculous. The Spider had a Horrendous and you knew it. "Me and a few others watch over the city at night." He crossed his arms.
"A few others?" Chat Noir asked, standing up.
The boy nodded once, then finally turned to look at you. "If guys want to talk we can, but get that civilian out of here." You shakily stood up and wrapped your arms around Chat Noir's waist.
"What about Batwing, though?" Chat Noir asked. He rested his hand on top of your hair and began to strike it lovingly. "She may know something about your Miraculous."
The Spider tilted his head in confusion. "I don't know what a Miraculous is." This statement seemed to stun Ladybug and Chat Noir. "But, take her home, first." He pointed at you impatiently.
Chat Noir nodded and you turned to face him, wrapping your arms tightly around his neck. You took one final look at his sad face before burying your nose into his neck and wrapping your legs around his waist. He once again pulled his staff out and set put on his way to your house.
