The Invitation
You got to Marinette's house a little after you were dismissed by Principal Damocles. You followed her up to her bedroom with Alya, Rose, Juleka, and Mylene talking behind you. When you climbed through the trapdoor, Marinette was already digging through a trunk and cycling through some clothes she had hanging up.
You walked up and she handed you and orange dress she had clearly stitched together herself. "Wow, (Y/N)! You actually look really good in orange. Most people can't pull it off." She smiled warmly to you and you thanked her. She handed other dresses and skirts to the other girls. Marinette also passed around a box full of handmade jewelery and some sunglasses.
"You're really creative, Mari," you said as you pulled off your shirt and slipped the dress on, the other girls did the same. You took your jeans off underneath the dress. "It's so well made!"
You twirled in the mirror and laughed. You were actually having a lot of fun.
"These are jewels I designed that you can customize yourselves," Marinette explained as she passed around a platter with colorful jewels and rhinestones. You picked some clear ones and held them up to your ears like earrings.
"Oooh. They are so cute!" Rose exclaimed as she looked down at the pink stones in her hands arranged in a necklace.
"Hold on, nobody move," Alya said as she pulled out her phone. She snapped a few photos of Rose. She also took pictures of you and the rest of the girls. "These are good!" She showed the phots to Marientte. "This one would make an awesome homepage image for your future blog. Wouldn't it?"
You could see that the photo Alya was showing Marinette was a photo of you, mid-laugh with your eyes closed and your nose scrunched up. Marinette nodded slightly.
"Yeah, sure. Maybe."
Alya giggled and turned to face everyone else. "I'm going to print these out for you guys." She then turned to the computer at Marinette's desk and plugged her phone into a USB cable connected to the printer. "Marinette lets me use the nice paper to print out photos!" As Alya began to set up the program, you got an alert on your phone. You pulled it out, half-expecting it to be Adrien. Instead, you were greeted with a photo of Chloé on an e-invite to a party.
"Get a load of this," you chuckled, showing everyone else the phone. As you did, Alya's phone buzzed, then Rose, then Juleka, then Mylène. "She's invited us to some party on Saturday."
"That's so nice of Chloé!" Rose squealed.
"Chloé and nice in the same sentence? Can't be her." Marinette crossed her arms and huffed. You nodded in agreement.
"She must be planning something."
"Or maybe somebody hacked her phone," Mylene said, laughing to herself as she skimmed through the invitation on her phone.
Marinette sighed and checked her own messages. "I haven't received a text."
"Then that means it must be from Chloé!" Alya said, leaning toward Marinette and poking her with her finger. She wiggled her eyebrows and laughed. Just then, Marinette's phone beeped.
"Hm? Ewww, She invited me!" Marinette dropped her phone.
"Awesome! This will be so much fun!" Rose cheered, she hopped a little.
Marinette gasped. "Wait! You're actually going to go?" She picked her phone up off the floor and looked at the invitation again. "You guys can go but don't count me in."
Alya's phone buzzed again. She showed you the message and you sighed. "It's Nino. He's going to the party with Adrien," Alya said as you read the message.
"Yeah, he's pretty close with Chloé for some reason."
"O-okay, yes, you guys are right! We should totally give Chloé one more chance!" Marinette yipped, excitedly jumping in place. She began to bite on her knuckles with glee and you angrily grabbed her by the shoulder.
"Try to be a normal person on Saturday, Marinette!" you snapped. "You're going to freak Adrien out. I know you're excited, but if you want Adrien to like you you need to stop with the stalking and memorizing his schedule, and smelling him when you think he's not looking."
Marinette pouted.

The next day at school, everyone avoided Chloe like the plague. Even Sabrina seemed a bit frustrated with her.
At lunch, you were even prepared to sit with Marinette and Alya, but Adrien dragged you over to Chloé's lunch table. Chloe was sitting alone, pretending it didn't bother her.
"First mean thing she says to me, I'm out, Adrien," you snipped. Adrien frowned at you but nodded. "I'm not saying you have to follow me, but I'm not going to put up with it."
"Hey, Chloe," Adrien said cheerfully. You almost resented his ability to see the best in people. If it weren't for the story he told you about Chloé's mom, there was no way you would have let him drag you to this table.
"Hi, Adrikins!" Chloe cheered, clapping her hands together. She pulled a chair out for him next to her and pat it enthusiastically. "You can sit here! And you..." She turned to look at you and bit her tongue. "...you can... sit next to me or Adrien if you want!"
You set your lunch down across from Chloe and Adrien. "Here is fine, thanks," you said as genuinely as you could muster.
"Did you get my party invite?" Chloe asked you.
You nodded as you began to spread your cheese over your bread. "Yeah, that was very nice of you. What's the dress code?" As you spoke, Adrien absentmindedly set his bread and cheese on your tray, knowing how much you liked it. Chloe took note and had to squeeze her nails into her palms to avoid being mean.
"Whatever you want, of course. You usually dress so nicely anyways."
Your eyebrows shot up and you looked over at Adrien with wide eyes. "Okay, somethings going on here and I need to know what it is," you demanded, looking between the both of them.
Adrien chuckled and placed his hand on your upper back. "I told Chloe that if she didn't start acting nicer and more respectful, I wouldn't be friends with her anymore."
"I'm really proud of you for setting that boundary," you said. You turned to look at Chloé. "You don't need to lie to me to be nice, by the way. If you don't like how I dress, you don't need to pretend you do, just don't say anything. And if I ask your opinion, like right now, there is a nice way to tell me what you think." You took a bite of your main course and gave Chloe a closed-lip smile.
Chloe nodded happily and stated she understood. Her shoulders relaxed a bit, as though you took a lot of pressure off of her. She began to eat her own food, and even offered you a piece of her chocolate cake.

After school, you and Adrien made your way to the courtyard for your fencing lesson. Normally you would have practice on Wednesday, but today you were having tryouts for new fenders. One of the new fenders being Marinette. She and several other students were speaking with Mr. D'Argencourt wjen you walked into the locker room.
Vladd flew from your bag and hovered by your ear. "Interesting to see Chloé act so nice."
"Yeah, the whole world seems backwards today. Marinette is acknowledging me and Chloe is giving me high-end chocolate ganache cake with gold flakes." You pulled your fencing uniform on over your legs. At this time, you were the only girl in the fencing class, so you could talk to Vladd freely in the locker room. However, that would probably change soon.
As you walked out, you were shocked to be greeted by Lucas. The two of you hadn't spoken much since he had asked you to be his date to the concert. "Hey, can I talk to you?"
You arched an eyebrow, but nodded. He gestured for you to follow him and you did. When you rounded a corner he took one of your hands with both of his and placed something in it. He kept hold on your hand, so you couldn't see what he had given you, but you could feel it was a string of some sort, and something hard connected to it. He leaned down so that he could look you in the eye. With a low voice, he said, "Moonbeam, I need your help."
You gasped. Your eyes went wide and you pulled your hand away. You looked down at what he handed you. It was necklace. A soft cord, with a small glass bottle tied securely to it. Inside the bottle was a fine black powder with reflective bits of purple.
"I-I-I..."
"What's going on here?" someone snapped, turning the corner.
"Adrien!" you exclaimed fearfully. You swiped your hand behind your back and shoved the necklace into your back pocket. "Nothing's going on. J-just asking Lucas for some tips for fencing. " You have him an awkward, guilty smile.
Lucas smirked and eyed Adrien. "I am the best one here," Lucas smirked, looking back down at you. Adrien knew he wasn't referring to fencing.
"She has a boyfriend."
"Then maybe you should back off of her, too."
"That's enough," you growled. You glared at both of them. "My boyfriend trusts me, and I wasn't doing anything wrong."
Adrien rolled his eyes. "So you aren't trying to hide the necklace he just gave you? Or the fact that he just called you 'Moonbeam'?
"It's a misunderstanding," you urged, suddenly finding it hard to breathe.
Adrien snorted, turning around and walking away.
"Meet me at the same place as before," Lucas said, using his finger to turn your chin back towards him. You knew he was talking about the concert hall, but you didn't know Adrien had heard.
You could understand why he was upset. The situation looked really bad. But you didn't understand why he seemed to be taking it so personally. Even when you tried to pair up with him for fencing drills, he left and paired up with Marinette.
