School Project
You finally managed to get back into your room. You swung in through the window and landed on your couch.
"Vlaad, ears in," you sighed as you sank into the couch. "Wow. That was crazy!" You laughed and looked up to see Vlaad zooming around lazily looking for the plate of fruit you had set out for him. Once he found it on your desk he happily sat on the dish and began to eat grapes to refuel his energy. "I can't tell you how happy I am you don't eat blood."
He shrugged his tiny shoulders as he swallowed a green grape whole. "I could eat bugs, fruit, blood--"
"That's disgusting!" You scrunched up your nose and looked away in disdain. "I can't believe you!"
Before he could make a snide retort there was a knock on your door and he flew into one of the desk drawers to hide.
You opened your bedroom door to find Adrien with a notebook in his hand. He waved to you and you welcomed him inside before Chloe could come out to pester him. "I'm not bothering you, am I?"
You giggled and shook your head. "Not at all." You led him over to your sitting room area and he set the notebook on the coffee table.
"Sorry, I just thought I heard you talking to someone in here." He glanced around your room as though searching for someone. But, obviously, he found nothing, which seemed to satisfy him and somehow manage to spark curiosity.
You shook your head. "Just hung up with some of my old friends from (country). I'm actually really happy you came."
He took a seat and looked up at you with gleeful eyes. He didn't say anything for a moment, but then found something to say. "Um, Alya couldn't come. She's busy blogging about the newest Akuma." You gave him a sideways look. "A blog? It's like, an internet diary."
"Oh." You took a seat next to him and frowned. You felt stupid.
"So, how are you doing?"
"Huh?"
"It's only your second day at school and you've already come face to face with an akumatized villain." He leaned backwards in his seat and looked at you with wide eyes, waiting for your response. "A-and I know you didn't pick up Nathaniel's sketchbook..." he trailed off a bit before continuing on. "I just wondered if he blamed you for that."
You shook your head- you hadn't even thought about that. If you had just picked up his book a bit faster Chloe would've never gotten her hands on it and Nathaniel never would've been akumatized.
You shrugged your shoulders. "There's not much I can do now, is there? So, I'm not going to worry about it unless he comes to attack me. Ladybug, Chat Noir, and Batwing have got it handled."
You gestured to his notebook urgently. He picked it up and opened it. His notes were beautiful. He had added drawings and charts since the last time you saw it. You leaned in closer to him for a better look and he smiled.
"I have a few ideas," he said. He showed you his notebook and there was a small list off to the side with different topics with symbols next to them you assumed marked his interest.
"Whichever you want. I don't really even what this means." You giggled and picked up a pencil. "Will this be PowerPoint or a board?"
"Whatever got want- Alya bailed. She'll be doing a few parts on her own, so we'll still have time for ice cream." His green eyes sparkled in excitement. "I'm so happy I met you, (Y/N)."
"No way!" you laughed. "I'm happy I met you! I'd be lost in France without a friend like you!"
He shrugged his shoulders and turned away. "I don't have many friends. Don't get me wrong, everyone is nice, but we're not really friends. I have Nino and Chloe, that's about it."
"What about Alya and Marinette?"
"I've never really had a conversation with Marinette, and Alya seems alright- just another instance of a nice acquaintance."
You placed your hand on his shoulder and half-smiled, not knowing what else to do. He placed his own hand on yours and gave it a light squeeze.
Suddenly, though, he reached across your coffee table and covered up one of the magazines on the bottom. It was suspicious enough to grab your attention and force you to wonder what he was hiding. Laughing, you pulled your hand away and reached to pull out the bottom magazine that had a black corner sticking out.
He jumped over and grabbed your wrist to pull it back. You stared up at him with wide eyes and your mouth slightly open. He had startled you.
"Please!"
"What are you so scared of me seeing, Adrien?" You furrowed your eyebrows. You couldn't imagine what he was trying to hide from you on the cover of a magazine Chloe had put in your room. You were positive there was no nudity, or even partial nudity, save a few bathing suit models.
"I-I just... please."
"I guess I'm going to have to trust you." It was a phrase you had heard earlier, and without the intention of reciting it verbatim. But your brain was on recording mode, and everything you heard was getting absorbed into your brain. You just so happened to have found use for the phrase Chat Noir had said to you.
"Thank you."
You nodded and Adrien sighed to himself. He reluctantly let go of your wrist and motioned towards the magazines.
"Are you sure?" you asked.
"Yeah, it's just kind of embarrassing."
You giggled and pulled the magazine out from the bottom of the stack. On the front was Adrien, in the middle of jumping. His legs were folded behind him and his hands were out to the side. He smiled brightly, squeezing his eyes shut.
He wore a white, long sleeved shirt with a black butterfly emblem on the front. His pants were a forest green, and his shoes were mossy colored, with the same butterfly on the sides.
The name of the magazine was La Mode, and it was a springtime issue, but that wasn't what you or Adrien noticed.
All over the front were red and black hearts written in Sharpie. His cheeks flushed a bright red and he looked at his phone.
"O-oh! Would you look at the time?! I... uh... must go..."
You shook your head violently and leapt over him, grabbing him by the arm and holding him back. "Adrien! I had no idea, I'm serious!" You looked back at the magazine and you bit your bottom lip. "Mrs. Adrien Agreste" was written in large black letters all over the magazine. There was no way for you to properly explain yourself so you let him go. He waved shyly before gathering his belongings and leaving the room.
Once he was gone you snatched the magazine and stormed off to Chloe's room. You slammed her door open and found her painting her nails on a mat on the floor by her bed.
"You brat!" you screamed. You threw the magazine at her and she snorted.
"What is this?" She blew on her nails a bit before carefully picking it up to look at the cover. Her eyes widened and she laughed nervously. "Oh my gosh. This is so embarrassing."
Her response took you by surprise and you crossed your arms. "What was it doing in my room?" you demanded.
She shook her head and look up at you. "I didn't mean to add it along with other magazines I gave you." She was being sincere, though snarky. "I would never give you a spring magazine in the fall, you're already fashionably challenged enough." She looked disgusted as she eyed your clothes up and down, and you felt extremely embarrassed.
"So, you didn't purposely plant this to embarrass me in front of Adrien?"
She shook her head again, but she sneered. "What was he doing in your room?" She stood up and waved her hands to dry her nails.
"We were working on the project together- we're in the same group, remember?"
She furrowed her brows and frowned. "Well, then I'm glad he saw it! And you can forget about me admitting it was my magazine. He didn't like you anyways, so it doesn't matter if your reputation is ruined."
You rolled your eyes, graoning as you stomped your foot and marched out of her room to go yell angrily into your pillow.
