Love Letters
Marinette finished writing out the letter and the address, she pressed a stamp onto the paper then sealed it. She spun in her chair and smiled mischievously. "Your turn," she giggled, handing you a black pen, a green piece of construction paper and scissors. "We'll help you write it, then I can see what I can do to get it to Chat Noir."
You gasped excitedly and squealed. You quickly took her place at the desk and began brainstorming as Alya cut a heart shape out of the green paper.
"Well, he has eyes like green stone... what's it called?" you asked, shyly.
"Emerald," Alya piped up, still laser focused on the card.
"Eyes like emeralds. Lips as soft as peaches. Soft golden hair," you dreamed romantically. You held the pen loosely in your hand.
The three of you worked for another 15 minutes before you were satisfied with your poem. Some of it had to be in English so that it could rhyme and you could effectively get it out, but you didn't think Chat Noir would ridicule you for that.
With eyes like emerald, when I feel you look at me you light up my whole world.
Two lips as sweet as peaches, and a laugh that leaves me speechless.
Beautiful golden hair, and I can't help how much I stare.
I see you everyday, but it's never enough.
I just want you to be my Valentine, so sorry for all the cheesy stuff.
You contemplated whether or not you should sign your name at the bottom, but you weren't sure if that could reveal your identity, so you left your first and last initials.
You gleamed as you finished it and sealed it up as you handed it to Marinette. "Don't worry, it's in safe hands."
"I know, I trust you, Mari."
The three of you ran down to the bakery where Marinette's dad handed you some heart-shaped candy apples. "Thank you, papa." Marinette smiled and gave her dad a kiss on the cheek before scampering out with you and Alya.
"Come on, Marinette! Do it before you chicken out!" Alya ordered as you neared the mailbox next to the bakery.
The letter trembled in Marinette's hands, but eventually she forced herself to push it through the slot. "I did it!"
"Yeah!" Alya cheered.
"Good for you, Marinette!" you said, feeling excited as you thought of her help with Chat Nor. The three of you gave each other a group hug when your phone started buzzing.
You unlocked it to see a picture of one of the boys in your class kneeled on the ground. He was soaking wet and a bag of chips had flown into his face.
"Isn't this Kim?" you asked, showing them the phone. "Chloe just sent it to me."
"What a witch!" Alya howled in anger. She clenched her fist, looking for something to hit, and you hoped it wouldn't be you.
"And I was the one who told Kim to do it! I didn't know he was talking about her!" Marinette cried, pulling at her hair by the roots.
"Dang, I hope Adrien doesn't do the same thing to you," Alya teased, shaming her head in satisfaction.
Marinette, however, did not find this funny, and began to pry at the mail slot, trying to force it open to get her letter back. You laughed at her and pulled her away from the box.
"Girl, calm down!"
"Adrien would never do that," you added.
"What in the world is that?!" Alya suddenly shouted. She pointed up at the sky and you turned to see a man in a suit with large wings and a mask. He held a large bow and arrow in his hands, prepared to shoot at Alya.
"All hearts must be destroyed!" He yelled, releasing his arrow. You tried to push her out of the way but you were too late. He hit one of the candy apples she was holding and Alya's lips went black.
You gasped. "Alya?!" you and Marinette shouted with worry.
Alya growled at the both of you and stuck a candy apple on Marinette's shirt, and the other one in your hair. You yelped in frustration, trying to carefully pull it out with ripping out too much of your hair.
"You're not my BFF, you're a joke!" she yelled at Marinette, making her mouth hang open. "Adrien's gonna laugh his head off at your lame attempt at poetry!"
And you!" Alya pointed at you and you were so surprised you accidently ripped the candy apple right out of your hair. "You really think Chat Noir would ever want to be with you? He's a super hot superhero, and you're just a girl who can't even speak French."
She ran a way cackling. You watched her run, trying to blink back the tears in your eyes. You knew right away Alya wasn't under control of herself, but that didn't make what she said any less true. "Marinette I--" you wanted your letter back, but she was already gone.
You quickly looked around for a place to transform. You ended up hiding between two buildings in a vacant alleyway. "Ready, Vladd?" you asked him. He flew out of your bag and shrugged his shoulder.
"I'm ready for this sappy day to be over," he groaned. You giggled and rubbed under his chin.
"Vladd, ears out!" you shouted. You transformed into your suit and immediately pulled your nun-chucks out. "It's on," you growled, smirking in vigor.
You followed the commotion and shredded flower petals to the hotel you were living at, La Grande Paris. What was Dark Cupid doing here? Was he after Chloe? You made your way down to the front of the hotel where Ladybug was protecting Chloe from Kim, who was flying high in the air.
"Stop, Kim!" Ladybug yelled, swinging her yo-yo around to make a shield. You jumped down from a balcony and landed beside her. "Glad you could finally make it," she said, rolling her eyes.
"Why? Because you can't handle this on your own?" you snapped back, getting into a fighting stance.
"I'm Dark Cupid! I'll never stop! If I can't have love, then no one can!"
You narrowed your eyes at him and laughed. "Newsflash, Cupid, just because you your crushed crushed you doesn't mean you should ruin everyone else's day!"
"We get it. Chloé totally burned you. But that doesn't mean you have to take it out on all of Paris!" Ladybug argued.
"Oh yes, I do!" He nocked an arrow on the string of his bow and pulled it back. "I won't stop until everyone's heart is crushed. Say adios to your loved ones. From now on, you'll hate them!"
You rolled your eyes. Nothing could make you hate Chat Noir. Of course, that's what you thought, and it was quite naïve of you to think that words wouldn't hurt you.
Dark Cupid released his arrow and it came spiraling towards you. You and Ladybug jumped out of the way, making sure Chloe was safe as she ran back into the hotel. You both went over a building, coming down on the other side. Ladybug used her yo-yo to catch herself and you landed on a familiar pole that was extended between two balconies.
"Falling for me already, Batsy?" Chat Noir purred. He was already standing on his staff, and when you began to stumble he grabbed you by the waist and pulled you close to him.
"I need to talk to you," he whispered. "I need advice and I feel I can trust your advice."
He stared down at you with his vibrant green eyes and a small smile tugging at his lips. It was impossible to not want to stand there forever and admire his perfect face, remembering every detail. You nodded, wanting to help him in any way you could, but Ladybug interrupted you.
"It's going to have to wait. Dark Cupi-"
"I swore to myself that I'd ask you ladies as soon as I saw you. I need female advice," he pleaded. Ladybug looked at the both of you disapprovingly, and it angered you because you didn't know she was the girl who had just promised to help you seduce Chat Noir.
"Batwing!" Chat Noir shouted, tightening his hold around you and spinning you to the other direction. "Look out!"
"Chat?"
"What? What do you want?" You pulled away from him and he wriggled away from you, the with two strong hands he shoved you backwards by the shoulders onto the pavement.
You let out a wispy breath, and a metallic taste covered your tongue.
"Chat Noir, snap out of it!" Ladybug begged. She threw her yo-yo but he dodged it and swatted at her, making the yo-yo wrap around her body so that she was tied up.
"You're nothing Ladybug!" Chat Noir hissed. "And you," he glared at you. "Neither of us want you on this team! You're completely useless, why don't you just leave?!"
You gasped and blocked your face with your arm, unable to look at him. You scooted backwards on your butt, trying to get away as tears welled up in your eyes. "You-you..." you wanted to respond, but you couldn't think of anything in French to describe how you felt.
"You should go back to whatever hole you crawled out of to get here. You must really be as blind as a bat to not realize how much we hate you!" With his final thought, Chat Noir scampered away, far out of your view. You sat on the ground for almost a minute before nervously standing up. Blood pounded in your ears, and you could feel your heart in your throat.
You breathed heavily, though it sounded hollow. "He... he didn't mean it," you told yourself. "Just like Alya. He didn't mean it."
