Living Arrangements
Marinette's family let you spend the night for as long as you needed, and you hoped it wouldn't be long. Her family was so kind and you didn't want to impose.
Vladd didn't seem to mind all of the extra hiding- it just gave him more time to eat and sleep in peace.
The next day at school, though, the answer to all of your problems sat down next to you. It was Adrien, and he seemed extremely frustrated.
"Good morning, Adrien," you greeted. You leaned forward to kiss him on the cheek but he leaned away. "What's wrong?"
He paused for a moment and inhaled sharply. "What were you thinking last night?" Adrien placed his bag on his desk and began to pull his supplies out. "I-I mean... Chat Noir told me what happened." He tried to steady his breathing. He was mad, but it all dissipated when he looked at you. "He said he found you in the middle of the street."
You covered your face with your hand and groaned. "I know it was stu--"
"You could've come to me!" he interrupted. "Actually," he said, looking down at his desk sadly. "I assumed you would come to me for help. I waited on you and when you didn't show up I assumed you decided not to leave."
You pouted you lips and buried your face in your hands. "I know, Adrien. I just... when I went to your house for dinner your dad didn't seem to enjoy the fact that I was there. He kept staring at me like he was angry."
Adrien shook his head and pulled your hands away from your face. "My dad actually really likes you."
You stared up at him. "Really?"
He nodded and looked back down to his paper. "I was actually thinking that you could come live with us," he whispered, almost hoping you wouldn't hear. You continued to stare at him and he chuckled awkwardly, rubbing the back of his neck. "Only if you want." He smiled crookedly and you thought about it.
"You want to be my host brother?"
He grimaced at the word brother, but nodded anyways. "Yeah... brother. Haha..."
"That would be awesome." You grabbed him and pulled him into a hug. You inhaled deeply, tensing up as you recognized the green apple shampoo. You leaned away from him skeptically. "I'll have to talk the woman who takes care of my housing. Assuming I don't get sent home for leaving, there should be no problem with me living with you," you said sternly.
He noticed the change in your demeanor. "What's wrong."
"You said you talked to Chat Noir last night?"
Adrien nodded. "Yeah. He came by my house because he knows we're close."
You bit your lip. "You smell like him."
Adrien brushed it off smoothly, laughing and shaking his head. Not even a moment of hesitation. "Yeah. He told me he wanted to impress some girl, so I recommended my cologne and stuff. My manager tells me which scent to use because itll drive girls crazy."
His answer was good enough for you, so you looked back down to your work sheet and began to scribble down words that didn't really fit. You couldn't focus, because you were beginning to see the similarities between Adrien and Chat Noir.
After school let out you went to the locker room alone. It was a strange feeling to not have Adrien right next to you, but he had stayed in the classroom to work with the class on some movie they were making for a film festival. You hadn't really been included in it at all because of your poor command of the French language- Adrien didn't even have you rehearse lines with him.
You went back into the room to see Adrien getting his makeup done by Juleka. And Mylène waiting for her turn. "Hey, (Y/N)," she whispered. "Do you think you could finish up Adrien for me so I can get started on Mylène?" It was hard for you to understand her, but she spoke slow enough.
Adrien leaned over to look at you from behind Juleka and smiled at you, nodding. "Sure." You set your bag down on the floor. "But, maybe you can help me out with some papers I have to do for my host family while they film; it's all in French." Juleka nodded shyly and handed you the brush she was using.
"He just needs blush and bronzer."
You stood in front of Adrien with a grimace. "I don't know what blush and bronzer are. I only know the word 'makeup'." Adrien chuckled and handed you a small palette of a soft pink. "Oh." You furrowed your brows and stared at him. "But your cheeks are already so pink!" you giggled. You pinched his cheek lightly, and this made his cheeks grow even pinker. "I don't think you need this, then."
"I-I guess not." He took a few steps back and got onto the teacher's desk to sit down. He rubbed his palms together and clenched his fists a few times before handing you the palette of bronzer.
You got closer to him, and because of the way he was sitting you had to lean awkwardly over his knees. "Here, open your legs wider, please." You tapped at his knees with the makeup brush and then pulled them open so that you could step between them. Now you could comfortably apply his bronzer.
When you finished you took a step back and grinned. "You look great!" You set the brush and palette down then clapped your hands together. "Not that you could look anymore handsome than you already are... Did Juleka put pink makeup on you?"
You crossed you arms and pursed your lips. He shook his head, ducking a bit to hide his rosy cheeks, and hopped off the desk to get in his first place with Mylène. "She didn't put any blush on me."
They ran over the scene several times and, by the time Juleka helped you finish your paperwork and make a phone call, they were still working on the first scene. It had been nearly half an hour, and they had only gotten a couple of lines in.
"Let's go again," Nino groaned, holding his camera up. "Action!"
"Agent Smith, it's too dangerous! We must evacuate!" Adrien said timidly, grabbing onto Mylène's arm desperately. His face twisted into an expression of fear, but hers was set in determination.
"You're suggesting we run, Officer Jones?" She glared at him. "After it devoured my family, my friends, even my beloved dog, Sniffles? Never! I won't run! I no longer fear it, I'm going to face it!" She slammed her fist into her palm and scrunched up her nose. "Then I'll--" Ivan towered over her with his purple monster mask, waving his hands in the air menacingly. Mylène let out a mottled scream and hid behind Miss.Bustier's desk.
Ivan quickly took off his mask and apologized to his sweet girlfriend, but Nino was annoyed. He rolled his eyes and grumbled, "Mylène! That's like, the tenth take, and we're only on the first scene!"
You stood from your seat and went to help Mylène stand up. You offered both hands and she took them softly, shaking.
"Fourteenth actually," Alix said, equally annoyed. "But who's counting?"
"I'm... sorry," Mylène squeaked, pulling her hands away from you. "I'm gonna do better on the next take, I promise." You went to give her a hug and she returned it.
"It's okay Mylène. We know you are super brave," you told her encouragingly. But you had seen her get startled by the "loud" water in a water fountain at school.
"She's playing a hero from the special forces, (Y/N), we need her to be brave now, so stop coddling her." He turned to Mylène. "You're not supposed to get all freaked out!"
You sneered at him.
"Don't be mad at (Y/N), Nino. And I know I need to be brave, but... that monster mask he's wearing is so... realistic and scary!"
You had seen Marinette, Alix, and Nathaniel work on the monster costume. Though all three of them were amazing artists, they didn't have the time or supplies needed to make a mask that would scare a two-year-old. But that didn't change the fact that Mylène deserved to be treated kindly.
"If you ask me, he doesn't even need a mask!" Chloe cackled. Sabrina laughed along with her. You hadn't even noticed Chloe until now because she wasn't doing anything productive.
"Then it's a good thing no one ask."
"Aw, look, she's trying to speak French," she said to Sabrina as though you were a lost puppy. "Maybe you should take some more lessons- learn your past tenses."
You bit your lip and looked away from her. You took a few steps back until yo felt Adrien's hands firmly grip your shoulders.
"What a bratty snob!" Marinette growled.
"Back off Chloe. She speaks more languages than you," Adrien defended.
Nino rolled his eyes again in exasperation and shook his head. "Ivan, put the mask back on, you're playing the monster! And Mylène, we need you to stay in character!"
Ivan hesitantly put his mask on and Mylène began panicking right away. She backed off into a corner and began whispering to herself before singing a song. "Smelly wolf, smelly wolf, stinky breath and slimy--
"And the Oscar for best pathetic scaredy-cat afraid of its own shadow goes to Mylène!" Chloe announced, holding her arms out to present Mylène to the rest of the class.
"Chloé, seriously?" Adrien growled. He clenched his fist and sneered at her. He kept one arm on your shoulder and his grip was tight.
"Yeah, so what?" She glanced at her nails then wiped them on the lapel of her yellow cashmere sweater. She smirked snidely at Mylène who pushed passed Ivan and ran out of the door bawling.
You wanted to run after her but you didn't know her very well. You turned to Ivan and motioned for him to go follow Mylène.
"Mylenè, wait!" He threw his monster mask on the ground and ran after Mylène.
You crossed your arms and turned to Adrien, who was ready to give you a hug.
