Fencing and Statues
Andre Bourgeois had recently recommend that you joined an after school activity. He claimed that you needed a way to make friends and that you spent too much time hanging around the hotel. But what you had really gathered from that was Chloe complained that you had too much free time to hangout with Adrien so you needed something else to do.
However, as it just so happened, when Adrien heard the news he enthusiastically suggested you joined his fencing club. The idea seemed great, but of course there was one big problem.
"I can't fence, at all, Adrien," you had told him over and over, but he wouldn't listen. On Wednesday, after school let out at 12 o'clock, he took you to his fencing coach and explained to him that you were new and preferred to be in the same class as him, even though you were only a beginner.
"That can be arranged," Coach D'Argencourt told Adrien. "Miss. (L/N), you'll be pairing up with Mr. Agreste. He'll show you the ropes."
Adrien smiled to you as he led you towards the lockerroom. "But, you won't get good practice trying to help me."
He grabbed your hand and rolled his eyes playfully. "Don't worry. If you improve quickly then we'll both start getting better!" He pulled on you lighty, then made you spin around. You stumbled a bit and fell back onto him. You apologized, but he held you there for a second before letting you go.
"If you say so."
"I'll see you in a few minutes, okay?" You split up into the locker rooms and you went to get dressed.
You were the only girl in the club so you were completely alone as you shoved all your things into a locker and changed into a tank top and the fencing gear.
Vladd flew out of your bag and zoomed around the area a few times before floating in front of you. "Is there a reason you woke me up from my nap?" he drawled. His little orange eyes were droopy and his shoulders hunched forward in exhaustion.
"I'm sorry, Vladd. I tried to set you down as softly as I could." You tucked your finger underneath his chin and stroked it gently. You pulled out your phone and checked the time. "The ceremony starts in about 45 minutes, so I won't need you till then, and you can rest. Sound good?"
Vladd nodded once before quickly falling back to sleep. You giggled to yourself and quickly changed into your clothes.
When you walked out of the locker room Adrien was already waiting for you. "Are you ready?"
You nodded. "Just a few lessons and I'll have you begging for mercy!" you laughed, pointing a finger at him. He grabbed it and scrunched up his nose, but you playfully pushed him away.

"Wow! You're really good, Adrien!" You congratulated him as he had scored once again.
"You are, too." He gave you a fist bump. "You're a natural at this. You've already got most of the technique down." His eyes softened as he looked over you. He adjusted the grip on his sword and readied it once more.
You had been putting in a lot of effort. You focused on the class and did your best to memorize everything Adrien had been telling you. As the only girl, and the newest student, and the foreigner, you felt as though you had something to prove. It wasn't long into the class before people started to take notice of your effort.
"En garde!"
You and Adrien fought again. Your offense was phenomenal for a beginner, but your defense was shotty, whereas his was unpenatrable. That was the difference between being a challenge and actually winning. You couldn't win with offense alone.
Although your offense was decent, his was far superior. You were carefully backing up as he closed in on you, but you hit the end of the mat and fell over.
Before helping you up, though, Adrien found it important to ensure he had officially won the match. He stuck you right in the chest, then pulled up his mask, a cocky smile on his face as he looked down at you. You rolled your eyes. He put his hand out and you took ahold of it.
"Well done, Agreste. You successfully beat a newbie." You crossed your arms but glared at him through your mask. He seemed to feel your negative energy, though, and muttered a small apology. You couldn't help but laugh at his idiocy. "You can be a real jerk, sometimes." He winked at you before glancing at the clock on the wall.
"Hey, um... I gotta get a drink of water. I'll be right back."
You glanced over the clock and saw it was time for the ceremony. You dropped your sword and waved to him awkwardly. "Yeah, of course, that's no problem." He seemed in such a rush that he didn't notice how high-pitched your voice was.
When the locker room door shut completely behind hip you ran into the girl's locker room and dashed to your locker.
"Vladd! Wake up! We're late!" You yanked the door open to find the little bat drooling on your notebooks. You groaned in frustration. "Vladd! Ears out!"
As soon as you had transformed you took off through a window in the bathroom. The park wasn't far at all. You were already in the school, so you just passed the Dupain-Cheng bakery and the park was right there.
You jumped off the peak of the school and glided down to the park. You landed far off, but you could already see Chat Noir sitting on the base of the statue, grinning cheekily at the fans. To his side were Mayor Bourgeois and who you assumed was the sculptor.
You ran forward and jumped up, doing a front flip as you landed on the opposite side of Chat Noir. You waved.
"Hello, everyone!" You were nowhere near the level of popularity that Ladybug and Chat Noir were, but people seemed to already know who you were. They clapped politely for you, but seemed more focused on the arrival of Ladybug.
"Excuse me, Chat Noir," the sculptor whispered. He glanced over to Chat with a worried look on his face. He took the lollipop stick out of his mouth and continued, "but Ladybug's not here."
You laughed sarcastically and shook your head in disapproval. "Not suprised," you grumbled. Though, you had said it in your native language. Chat Noir flinched, making your jaw tense. He stared at you for a moment, but then went right back to normal and answered the sculptor.
"Don't worry about Ladybug." He waved dismissively. "I'm sure she'll be here any minute. I can handle this situation with Batwing for now." He shrugged his shoulders and crossed his legs. "I'm the one in charge anyway, you know?"
The sculptor pulled out a small newspaper clipping from his pocket and stared at it with wide eyes. You looked across Chat Noir to see it was a photograph of Ladybug in full color. It seemed as though she had just jumped off the building and was throwing her yo-yo out in front of her.
"It's just that, I wanted to ask her to autograph this photo. She's amazing."
"Because of us!" you snipped. Chat and the sculptor looked at you with wide eyes. You found yourself at a loss of words to explain in French. If only you could tell loverboy off. If only you could express how Ladybug benefits from someone like Chat Noir who truly just wants to help, without any recognition.
"She's so brave and smart, though. The way she always saves everyone. She even fixed the city after The Evillustrator attacked. I didn't know she could do that!"
Before you could even process what he had said in order to get mad, Chat Noir had already grabbed you by the wrist and pulled you closer to him. You were now pressed against his side. You looked up to see him glaring at the photograph in the sculptor's hands.
"Perhaps the ceremony should commence. It might bring her here faster," André said impatiently. He checked his watch and began to tap his foot against the ground repeatedly.
"Please, just one minute more, Mayor Bourgeois, she's going to come, I can feel it..."
Ladybug never showed up. That actually suprised you. It suprised you that she didn't want to come to a ceremony practically dedicated to her. You wanted to think the worst of her, but Chat Noir didn't seem to let you.
"Hey, don't worry." The ceremony had already finished and people were starting to leave. "We're all still people with normal lives. I know she had every intention of showing up, she's probably busy with something important."
You crossed your arms and he put his arm around you. "Maybe you're right, Kitty."
"Of course I am," he said, touching your nose playfully. "These statues are amazing." He was now talking to Theo, the sculptor. "One thing's slightly off though— I'm actually taller than Ladybug."
"But, you have a statue!" you defended. You hadn't been around Paris long enough to have a statue, and Theo had told everyone he had been working on the statue for about two months. There was no time to include you.
"I can work on one for you. I'm just sad Ladybug didn't show up." Theo held up the photo again and his pupils grew large. "I wanted to express my adoration for her. Let her know that everything I had went into her statue. I'm sure if she took a little time to get to know me, she would see how much we have in common. Our devotion to the things we love."
You had no idea what to say. It was totally disgusting. You weren't sure if this guy knew the girl under the Ladybug mask was less than half his age. However, before you could express your contempt Chat Noir skipped over to Theo and put his arm around his shoulders.
"Hey, don't mean to burst your bubble, but you know, Ladybug and me, we're a thing, you know?"
You scoffed.
"Really?" Theo frowned.
"Yeah, we're like this." Chat Noir was lighthearted. He crossed his fingers and smirked, but you could see the heat in Theo's face as he pushed Chat Noir away and stomped off. "What was that about?" Chat Noir looked at you innocently. But you scrunched your nose at him and took off.
You knew he was lying, but you couldn't think of any other reason than that he was in love with Ladybug and wanted Theo to stay away.
You were ashamed to admit you were jealous more so than you were angry that he lied.
