Day of the Concert
A/N: Umm... well this is awkward...
It was Friday morning and finally the day of the concert. The three other members of BLACKPINK had arrived by plane the night before. All four of the members were staying in the mayor's hotel, which Chloe bragged about constantly.
The entire school was buzzing excitedly about whether they were going, where their seats were, and if they were taking a date. However, you wouldn't be in attendance. Since concerts were known to get out of hand, you, Ladybug, and Chat Noir agreed that one of you would have to be on patrol during the concert. The concert just so happened to fall on your night, so you were stuck. You had been sulking for the better part of the week.
Explaining to Adrien why you weren't going was difficult. He asked a million questions about why you suddenly didn't want to go. He had been so excited when he found out the concert didn't land on his patrol shift so that he could take you.
"Would you go if Chat Noir were the one taking you?" he had asked you. You assured him that you would never ditch him like that, not even for Chat Noir. Without you, Adrien accepted Chloe's invite. He was hesitant at first but you encouraged him to go and have fun. Chloe had gotten Adrien and Sabrina backstage passes and front row seats, so you knew he was going to enjoy it.

During your first break of the day, you and Adrien had met up with Nino in the courtyard. Apparently he had texted Adrien in the middle of the night asking for help with a girl he wanted to take to the concert. You decided to tag along because you thought you could offer some valuable advice as a girl yourself.
"There he is," Adrien said, pointing to Nino sitting on a bench and looking out into the crowd of students chatting blissfully. The two of you hurried over to where he was seated and sat down on either side of them. "Hey, man."
"Sup, guys," Nino said with a bit of frustration and defeat.
"So, what's up?" you asked emphatically. "Who's the lucky girl?" You smiled and nudged him with your elbow. He didn't answer. Instead he looked back out into the crowd where Marinette, Alya, Rose, and Alix were talking in a tight huddling. Alix must have said something funny because the other three began giggling. "Oh? Is it one of those four?" you pressed, pointing subtly at the four girls.
Nino nodded, adjusting his hat as he did so as if to hide his eyes. "I'm just way too nervous to talk to her. She's so pretty, and smart, and talented."
"Who, though?" Adrien asked again.
"Marinette," Nino mumbled. He kept his eyes on his hands.
You and Adrien exchanged unsure glances before refocusing on Nino. You weren't sure if you should be honest and tell him you were sure she had feelings for someone else. "How can we help you?"
Nino shrugged. "I'd like to date her, I'm just too nervous to talk to her." He buried his face in his hands. "I just want what the two of you have," he mumbled.
You raised your eyebrows in surprise and began shaking your head. "You've got the wrong idea, Nino. Adrien and I are just really close friends." You shot a look at Adrien for backup.
"Yeah, Nino. (Y/N) and I are just friends." But there was a bit of humor in his tone. A smirk tugged at the corner of his lips. Sometimes he almost enjoyed seeing the way you acted around him since you didn't know he was the one under the mask.
You rolled your eyes and turned your attention back to Nino. "Why not ask her to the concert?" Adrien asked. "If you're nervous about just the two of you going, you can make it a group thing."
"Yeah," you agreed. "Then, when you get more comfortable, you can try to spend one on one time with her." You gave Adrien an approving nod and a sweet smile.
Nino smiled. "So you two will tag along to help me?"
Adrien nodded. "(Y/N) can't, but I will absolutely be there." He put a reassuring hand on Nino's shoulder and gave it a squeeze.
Nino released a huge breath of air and nodded again. "Sounds good. Now... how do I get them to go?"
You stood from your seat and looked down at the boys. "I'll go talk with them, and then the two of you should come ask us as a group." The boys agreed and you hurried off towards the girls. You came up behind Alix and smiled at the rest of the girls. "Hey, ladies. What are you talking about?"
Marinette crossed her arms and made a sour face. "We were talking about what we wanted to wear to the concert tonight." The other girls took a step back to make room for you to join the circle. "It's nice to see you take a break from next to Adrien's hip."
You laughed as though you thought she was joking. "I just overheard Adrien and Nino talking about the concert. I think they want to make it a group thing."
Marinette's eyes lit up. She clapped her hands together and did a little hop. "Really? Oh, that's amazing!"
Your stomach dropped. You knew she wasn't excited to be going out with Nino. She still had feelings for Adrien- which was what you had expected. Maybe going out with Nino would help her meet someone new so that she could move on.
"Here they come," Rose whispered excitedly. Marinette quickly began brushing out her bangs with her fingers. She showed her teeth to Alya who gave her a swift thumbs up.
"Hey, dudes," Nino greeted. The five of you turned to look at the boys. "Me and Adrien were wondering if you would like to all go to the concert together."
"Absolutely!" Marinette answered quickly. The girls all laughed, but still agreed to go.

There were only four classes left until the school day was over and you were free for the weekend. Adrien had been pulled out of class early for a photoshoot. You had wanted to go, and Adrien even invited you, but the photographer wanted a limit on distractions. Mr. Agreste agreed that it would be best for you to remain at school.
On your way to the cafeteria for lunch, a hand clasped onto your shoulder and spun you around. You smiled nervously as you glanced upwards. "Hey, Lucas," you said. "How are you doing?"
He ran his other hand through his black hair and smirked at you. "That depends on how you answer my question." He bit his lip and looked you up and down. You felt your cheeks heat up, but you held eye contact. "I got two tickets to Jennie Kim's concert. I was hoping you would go with me." His voice had grown quiet by the end of his sentence.
You narrowed your eyes at him thoughtfully. "I'm actually not going, I have a lot of homework to catch up on." That was the excuse you had given Adrien.
"Why don't you go to the concert with me, and then I can help you with your homework?"
You shook your head. "I'm sorry, Lucas. I really can't." You could see disappointment in his eyes, but it didn't reach his face. You turned to walk away. "I'll see you at fencing!" You gave him a wave, and he sent you off with a sloppy two-finger salute.

When you arrived at the manor, Nathalie was sitting at the dining table typing dutifully on her laptop.
"Where's Adrien? He should be leaving for the concert soon," you said, setting your bag down on the table. You looked around. "Has he already left?"
Nathalie cleared her throat and shook her head. "I'm afraid Adrien is upstairs with Mr. Agreste. He's checking Adrien's performance on the piano," she adjusted her glasses. "If he does well enough, he'll be allowed to go."
There was no way Adrien would ever satisfy his father. You offered Nathalie a quick 'thanks' and headed upstairs. When you reached Adrien's bedroom door, you pressed your ear against it to listen in. You heard Adrien's hands gracefully playing over the piano keys. You didn't know which song he was playing, but you were sure it was perfect. Adrien practiced constantly.
"Horrible!" you heard Mr. Agreste yell suddenly. You flinched away from the door, quickly put your ear back against the door. "What is this, Adrien? I expected more from you. You will definitely not be going to the concert."
"But, Father---"
"No 'but's Adrien. I am very disappointed."
You heard footsteps approaching the door. You jumped backwards and ran to your room to hide. You cracked the door open to keep watch. When Mr. Agreste had walked past you, you made your way back to Adrien's door. You knocked softly and he called you in.
"Hey, Adrien," you mumbled. He was still sitting at his piano, his face buried in his hands.
He didn't look back at you. "Hey, (Y/N)."
You walked up to him. "Are you okay?" You sat down on the bench next to him and put your arm around his shoulders.
He shrugged his shoulders. "This happens all the time." He picked his head up to look at your face. The two of you were practically nose to nose. His eyes flickered down to your lips for a brief moment before he met your eyes again. He wanted to pull you close to him and kiss you. He wanted you to hold him for hours while he vented about his dad and how he never felt good enough for anyone. But the most he could do was talk to you as a friend. "I'm always disappointing him, and everyone else for that matter."
You frowned. "What do you mean? Everyone adores you."
"Everyone puts me up on this pedestal. I'm supposed to be so perfect and happy all the time. When I'm not, people make a bigger deal than what it is. Like just now, I missed one note in my performance, but this song is meant for someone who has been playing piano a lot longer than I have." He sighed. "Sometimes I think he does it on purpose. Like he wants me to feel inadequate."
You felt a tear well up in your eye. You leaned in to hug him. "Oh, Adrien. I'm so sorry that you've been made to feel this way. You are so kind, smart, and funny. I hate to think that you feel inadequate. You have accomplished so many things, whether your dad appreciates them or not." You squeezed him a bit tighter, and he returned to tightness. "You are a great friend, and a great son. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise." You let go of him. Now at arms length, you looked at his face. His eyes watery and his cheeks were a bit red. His eyebrows were knitted together and he couldn't meet your eye.
"Thanks, (Y/N)." He turned back to the piano and began playing a lighter, gentler tune than what you had heard earlier, but his mood was still doleful. "I feel bad for Nino," he said as he played. "If you promise to cover up for me, I would actually like to sneak out so that I could still go to the concert."
"Of course."
