ch-6 Friendly Dinner

Jungkook's pov

Throughout the following day, I couldn't stop thinking about him. It annoyed the hell out of me that he was so hot and unavailable. I'd always wanted what I couldn't have.

My mind flicked to Taehyung again, and a strange excitement resided in the base of my stomach. I knew tonight was just a friendly dinner, of course, but I was seriously hoping to sweep him off his feet and make him change his mind by the end of the night.

My preparations were already made. A table had been booked at a fairly nice and romantic restaurant, the flowers and chocolates had been bought - I was all set. All I needed before I went was to get my game back, and then I'd be able to charm him straight into bed.

A punch to my shoulder made me wince, and I looked up at Rowon, frowning. I'd been off in my own little world thinking about Taehyung again, and forgotten I was in the middle of a training, sparring session with one of my teammates. Shaking my head to clear it, I brought my hands up to protect my face again. A black eye wouldn't help my chances of bedding Taehyung.

As his gloved fist came at me again, I jumped back and scowled at him. "Not the face, dude, I have a date tonight."

"When don't you have a date?" he teased, blocking another of my punches.

I smiled at that. "True, but I really want this one. He's a total fox. Man, you should see him. He's going to taste good." I winked at him, laughing at his disapproving face.

He dropped his guard and shook his head. "You need to learn how to respect people, Kook. You're never going to get a partner if you only see them as sex objects."

"I don't want a life partner but a night partner you know." As I said the words, my mind settled on Taehyung again and how we looked in the mirror together, and how he'd held my hand when I was talking to him about the worst aspect of my job the other day. For some reason, I liked that.

Rowon sighed and dropped his guard, pulling off his training gloves and throwing them into a pile in the corner. "You'll grow up soon. I can't wait to see the girl or guy who makes the player settle down. Damn, you're in for a serious shock when you meet the person who turns your head. You won't know what's hit you; it's gonna be hilarious to watch."

Three hours later, I pulled up at his apartment. Before climbing out of my car, I picked up the flowers and chocolates from the passenger seat. As I got to the external door of his apartment, I pressed the buzzer.

"Hello?" His voice crackled through the intercom.

"Hey, pumpkin, it's me."

The door buzzed, and I heard the lock click so I pulled it open and practically ran up the stairs to his door eager to see him again. I'd made a conscious effort tonight, so was decked out in black dress pants and a blue shirt.

When he opened his door, I fought hard against myself not to drop my jaw on the floor. He looked so damn hot that my mouth watered and my dick was doing a little happy dance.

Taehyung was wearing a white shirt that was two buttons open from the top, and light brown pants that clung to him in all the right places. I could barely breathe.

Now I didn't even want to go out. I wanted nothing more than to strip that gorgeous outfit off him because I had a feeling that it would look even better in a pile on the floor.

"Shit, you look... damn... you bring a whole new meaning to the word edible," I said before I could stop myself. My eyes raked down his body, greedily drinking in every inch of him.

A subtle blush covered his cheeks. "Do you need a few more minutes to complete that fantasy or are we good to go? "he asked, leaning on the doorframe.

"No, I'm done for now. I'll finish my fantasy later when we can both enjoy it." I grinned at him as he rolled his eyes.

"Oh, really? You're pretty confident I'd enjoy it. Not overestimating your skills there are you?"

I couldn't help but laugh at how cool and calm he was at the moment.

"I'll let you be the judge of that," I replied, winking playfully.

He smiled and shook his head before turning to walk off. As he strutted away from me, my eyes dropped down to his pert little derriere. A little groan escaped my lips. The back view was just as good as the front.

He grabbed his phone and wallet from the side, and I silently congratulated God for creating something so fucking breathtaking. I'd never longed for anything more in my life. He was beautiful.

"So, where are we headed tonight? I'm not overdressed, am I?" he questioned, looking down at himself and nervously smoothing down his shirt.

Wow, he walked straight into this!

"You're extremely overdressed. Take off this hot outfit, go to the bedroom, and then we'll be closer to what I had planned for tonight," I replied.

"Jeez, you've only been here two minutes and you've already made me regret agreeing to this."

Ignoring his comment, I brought my hands from behind my back and held out the flowers and chocolates to him.

His face softened instantly. His teeth sank into his bottom lip as he looked up at me through his eyelashes. I wasn't sure if he was trying to be sexy, but he was totally pulling it off.

"You bought me flowers?" he whispered, seeming both grateful and shocked as he took them from my hand and raised them to his nose so he could smell them. I frowned, wondering why he was so grateful for a stupid bunch of cheap flowers. Did his man not treat him nicely?

I shrugged. "I told you I would if you agreed to come on a date with me." Thankfully, he didn't seem to pick up on the word date.

"Thank you, Jungkook, these are beautiful. That's so sweet of you," he mumbled, touching the petals of the pink rose that was in the middle of the bunch.

"You're welcome. Here, I got you these too." I handed him the chocolates. He smiled gratefully and laughed to himself a little.

"Thanks. You really are shaping up to be a great friend," he teased, turning towards the kitchen.

Friend. Ouch. My heart sank. He clearly wasn't even going to try and give me a shot tonight. I wasn't sure why I was expecting him to, after all, he had a boyfriend, he'd freely admitted that to me, and he'd told me on more than one occasion that this was a friendly thing, yet I was still expecting to win him over. I really had no right to be here trying to steal him from his man for one night of passion, but I couldn't force myself to stop pursuing him.

I followed him into the kitchen, watching as he ran some water in a vase and put his flowers in. My eyes were glued to his behind. "Your ass is going to keep me awake tonight. Damn," I admitted, biting my lip.

He chuckled and turned on the spot. "Look, Jeon, you don't need to keep flirting with me all the time. How about we just agree to stop with the flirting and the pick-up lines for the night, huh?"

Looks like I'll just have to impress him with my sparkling personality instead then.

"Fine, I guess I can live with that."

Smiling, he walked off towards the front door. "Let's go eat then, I'm hungry," he called over his shoulder, not even bothering to look back to see if I was following. I couldn't help but admire his confidence; that was like something I would do.

"Whatever you say, sweetness."

I smiled and followed him out of the building, nodding to my car which was parked just off to one side. This time, I remembered to open his car door for him. He grinned, biting his lip.

"Well, you're being very gentlemanly again tonight. Are you always like this?"

I smiled and decided to go for the truth. "Actually no, so you should make the most of it. I'm going to great lengths to try and impress you. Is it working yet?"

A smile twitched at the corner of his full lips as he slid into the seat. "A little."

I smiled happily and closed his door, heading around to my side. When I started the car I smiled at him. "I booked an Italian restaurant for tonight, that alright?"

"Sounds good. I eat anything, I'm not fussy."

"You're easy, then."

"If that's what you're thinking then you're in for a big shock," he joked, flashing his perfectly white, straight teeth as he smiled.

God, why does everything about this boy have to be so annoyingly perfect? Can't he have just one flaw to stop me from wanting him so freaking badly?

"So how was your first day?" I questioned, wanting to change the subject.

"It was so good. The kids are really great. I had no idea what I was doing though. I got lost about five times because the school was so much bigger than I was expecting, but I think I'm really going to like it there. My classroom's so cute, and we have this little reading area off in the corner," he stopped talking abruptly and frowned over at me apologetically. "I'm sorry, I'm rambling."

I laughed at how adorable he was. Taehyung got so lost in what he was saying when he spoke about things he was passionate about. It was terribly cute.

"I like to listen to you talk. Ramble away, bunny."

He cringed and shook his head. "I don't look like bunny u do. Don't call me that."

"Duly noted," I replied.

When we finally arrived at the restaurant, we were shown to a fairly nice table. The waitress took our drinks order almost immediately. While we ordered, Taehyung sat there with an amused smile on his face and chuckled as the lady walked away.

I raised a quizzical eyebrow. "What's funny?"

He shook his head in amusement. "So, do you just do it on purpose?"

"Do what on purpose?"

"Make all the humans fall for you," he replied, nodding towards the table a couple away from us. As I glanced in that direction, I saw two girls whispering and casting glances over to me.

Understanding washed over me. I got that reaction a lot so didn't even pay attention to it anymore. Turning my attention back to Taehyung, I decided to be honest for a change. "If I were doing it on purpose then you'd have fallen for me by now." I leaned in a little closer, watching for his reaction.

He didn't even react to my best sexy smolder. He was made of stone, for sure.

He put his hand over his heart, faking shock. "Oh, I'm sorry, are you trying to make me fall for you? Is that what this is?"

I burst out laughing and rolled my eyes. "If it's really not obvious then I'm going to have to bring back the pick-up lines."

"You like those lines, huh? Do they work for you a lot?" he asked, taking a sip of his wine as the waitress set it on the table.

I nodded in answer. "Usually they never fail. You're really denting my ego here, cupcake. Maybe you should cut me a little slack."

"Hmm, I don't think so. Where would be the fun in that? You know you love me rejecting you." He narrowed his eyes at me playfully as he leaned back in his chair and studied his menu.

Damn, he's good. How does he know I like it?

Minutes later the waitress came over to take our orders. Taehyung was chuckling to himself quietly as the lady tried to flirt with me, but I wasn't in the mood - well, not unless the little gorgeous brunette sitting opposite me was up for it.

"So, what does it feel like to be the most beautiful thing in the room?

I've always wondered," I asked, once the waitress disappeared.

Taehyung smiled weakly. "Look, Jungkook, I know you're trying really hard, and I honestly appreciate the effort, but this just isn't going to go your way. I don't sleep with guys unless I'm in love with them, so you're fighting a losing battle if you're trying to get me into bed. Let's just cut the act, and maybe we could be friends?" he offered hopefully.

I blinked, taking in his words. He didn't sleep with guys unless he was in love with them? He had to have been yanking my chain with that. There was no way that could be true; he was probably just trying to scare me away from him.

I nodded and took a swig of my drink, trying to be casual. "Okay, that's cool. So while I'm making you fall for me, you think maybe I could get a little advance?"

"You think I'm going to fall for you?"

I nodded confidently. "I think you're already halfway there."

He pursed his lips and let his eyes wander over me, deliberately slowly. "Hmm, maybe you're right. I mean, you do look good in blue," he joked, winking at me.

I grinned. It seemed I had finally met my match in this guy. He was definitely a challenge, which was making this an interesting chase.

"That's what all people say." I shrugged. My mind wandered back to his comment about only sleeping with guys he loved. "This is some kind of joke that I'm not understanding, right? You can't really just sleep with guys you're in love with." I frowned, studying his expression, looking for any signs of trickery. I hated how serious he looked. If I couldn't charm him into bed then how the hell was I going to get over this little obsession I was developing?

He shook his head. "Why would I joke about that?"

"Probably so I'll stop asking you out," I guessed.

He took another sip of his wine, his eyes never left mine. "So are you going to stop asking me out?"

My heart sank. I hated the fact that he sounded so hopeful when he asked. Did that mean he wasn't having a good time here with me? No, I decided, this has to be a test of some sort. I desperately wanted to pass.

"No way, I'm not gonna stop asking you out. Out of interest, how long did it take you to fall in love with your guy Han?"

His whole posture changed when I said his name and he squirmed in his seat. I immediately wished I hadn't brought him up. He frowned, seeming confused before he gulped and opened his mouth to answer.

Before he could speak though, the waitress arrived with our food.

"There is no way you're going to be able to eat all of that." I nodded towards his huge plate of cannelloni, grinning challengingly.

he raised one eyebrow and picked up his cutlery. "I bet I can. I eat a lot."

As he cut off a piece and popped it into his mouth, I couldn't take my eyes off him. Watching him, eat was sexy as sin. I'd never really just watched a person eat before and found it a turn-on. What made this man any different from the rest? I didn't know the answer.

I forced my eyes away and dropped them to my plate instead. I literally wanted to punch myself so I could behave like normal around him, instead of some obsessed, needy little puppy. As I cut into my steak, I blew out a big breath. Before Taehyung, I thought I knew everything about people that I needed to, but he'd turned that completely on its head.

"How's your food?" I asked, risking a glance up at him again and praying his fork wasn't in his mouth.

He smiled. "Good, yours?"

I chuckled, shaking my head at myself. "I've lost interest in my food now. Watching you eat is probably one of the sexiest things I've ever seen in my life." I leaned back in my chair, watching him.

"Wow, aren't you sweet," he joked.

"That's the second time you've called me that. Can't you use another word other than sweet? Doesn't that make me seem a little camp?" I replied, trying to look stern but failing miserably.

"You mean you're actually not gay?" He faked shock.

"Ha ha, you're hilarious. That's it, the pick-up lines are coming back."

"Oh no, not the pick-up lines," he cried with mock horror.

"Oh yeah. I've got a ton of them, so one of them is bound to work," I confirmed, trying to look more confident than I felt; nothing had worked so far and I had no idea where to go from here.

"Jungkook, honestly, I don't go for guys like you, so you're wasting your time." He frowned a little, but other than that showed no emotions.

I cocked my head to the side, wondering if this was all part of the weird test that I didn't understand. Was he trying to make me run away from him? I shrugged. I wasn't running anywhere tonight so I might as well give it my best shot. "We'll see. I've never failed before so this will be a first for me. So, did it hurt?"

"Did what hurt?"

"When you fell from heaven." I shrugged casually.

He rolled his eyes but giggled at the same time. "Jeez, that was bad."

"I'm going for cheesy now. If cheesy doesn't work then I'm going to move on to slutty." I waggled my eyebrows suggestively.

He chuckled. "Well I can tell you now that cheesy isn't going to work, so why don't we skip straight to slutty?" he suggested, leaning forward and resting his elbows on the table.

I couldn't help but lean in too as I looked into his big brown eyes. I longed to reach out and brush the hair off his face and trail my fingers along his bread cheek. The scent of his sweet perfume floated around me, it made him smell so edible that all I could think about was dragging him to the bathrooms and having my way with him until I could barely breathe.

"The slutty ones never work. pretty people don't like them." I waved my hand dismissively not taking my eyes from his.

The corner of his lips twitched with a smile. "I told you before, I'm not a normal person."

I sighed and shook my head, admitting defeat. I could throw in a couple of slutty lines, I knew they wouldn't work, they hardly ever did.

"You're so selfish, pumpkin, you're going to have that body for the rest of your life and I just want it for one night."

"Now that's more like what I would expect from a guy like you; cocky and overconfident, heavy on the sex references. I like it, keep going."

I was spurred on by his smile. "All those curves and me with no brakes."

"Nice, got any more?" he asked, blushing slightly. Surprisingly, the pink on his cheeks actually made him look even better to me, I didn't usually like it when guys blushed but he totally pulled it off.

"You can't be my first but you can be my next," I said immediately.

Moving on to the next one without waiting for him to prompt me, I fished a half-melted ice cube out of my drink. I set it on the table and smashed my fist down onto it, ignoring the looks that were directed from other tables.

"So, muffin, now that I've broken the ice, will you sleep with me?" I asked, trying to look serious. He burst out laughing, and I had to grin proudly. "See, told you the slutty ones don't work."

The conversation after that was easy and flowing. We chatted about his work, mine, Sehun, his moving to Seoul, what we both like to do in our spare time. It was nice and was easily the best date I'd ever been on. It didn't even feel like a date, more like two old friends laughing and chatting.

There wasn't a single awkward silence. I actually found myself getting lost in what he was saying. He interested me as a person and the more time I spent getting to know him, the more I liked him. I already knew I was in some serious trouble with this pretty boy.

After dessert and coffee, I reluctantly drove him home. With each passing second, disappointment built inside me. I wasn't ready for this night to end. I knew that I hadn't done enough to win him over, I'd tried my hardest, but it wasn't good enough. As I pulled up outside his apartment, I smiled over at him, silently hoping that his boyfriend knew what a good thing he had going with him. Jealousy was eating me up inside.

I climbed out of the car. "I'll walk you up," I stated, closing his car door for him. He smiled gratefully and walked to the door, entering his passcode. I followed silently behind him, debating whether I could kiss him goodbye and what his reaction would be.

After he unlocked his door, he stepped over the threshold, holding the door open and eyeing me curiously. "Not coming in for the coffee or something?" he asked, smirking at me.

My easy smile slid off my face as my heart sped up with excitement. Was he offering me sex? Had I impressed him? My mouth watered at the thought of peeling him out of his outfit.

I nodded eagerly, stepping forward quickly. Just as I was about to cross the threshold, he put his hand out, halting me. "I was kidding. Glad to see you're so eager, but one-night stands just don't cut it for me, sorry."

I swallowed my disappointment. So damn close but yet so far! "How about a two-night stand?" I offered. He laughed and shook his head slowly.

"Three? Four? A week?" I asked, hating the desperation I felt inside.

"Sorry. If you want to come in for a coffee then feel free, but that's all that's on offer." He leaned against the doorframe, crossing one long leg over the other.

I sighed deeply and walked into his place, throwing my hands up dramatically. "This had better be one great cup of coffee."

As I strutted into his kitchen without waiting for him, I heard him chuckling behind me. "Make yourself at home, why don't you?" he teased, as I started up his coffee machine.

"I will."

As I turned, I saw him standing just behind me. I grinned as I set my hands on his hips and lifted him onto the counter. A sexy little squeak of surprise left his lips as a blush colored his cheeks. I grabbed two mugs from the cupboard that I'd seen him get them from last time.

We took the coffees into the lounge and when he sat himself on the sofa next to me, instead of one of the two other free chairs, I decided to take that as a good sign. Now, if I could get him to agree to come out with me again, then maybe I would have a real chance with him. I'd just have to be patient for a few dates until he was ready to give it up. I could be patient; well, I was pretty sure I could anyway; I'd never actually tried.

We talked easily about movies that we'd seen recently or things that he wanted to see. He was gushing about some crappy-sounding romantic comedy that he wanted to see. It sounded like a total chick flick to me - my worst nightmare.

After I'd drained my cup, I figured it was about time for me to leave and let him go to bed. We both had work the following day. "I'd better go and let you get your beauty sleep. Not that you need any more of it, of course."

He stood and followed me towards the door. "Okay, well thanks for dinner. You should have let me pay this time though, seeing as you paid last time." He smiled at me gratefully.

Okay, one last go, Jungkook. Last try. Give it your best shot. Nerves built inside me again. I gulped, willing my voice not to betray me. "Why don't we go and see that chick flick? Like a date this time, a real date. We could get some food after?" I offered hopefully. Come on, Taehyung; please say yes.

just say yes, come on. Screw your man, he'll never even know if you don't tell him, please! When he didn't reject me immediately, hope bubbled up in my stomach. "We could go tomorrow night if you want..."

His teeth sank into his bottom lip as he shook his head. "I'm sorry, Jungkook, weekdays just aren't good for me."

Wait... that wasn't a no! He couldn't do weekdays - did that mean he could do the weekend?

"What about the weekend then?"

He pursed his lips and his eyebrows knitted together. I stood there, willing him to agree. Just when I thought the silence was going to kill me, he spoke and put me out of my misery.

"Okay, yeah. I'm free on Friday or Saturday," he mumbled, nodding but looking like he wasn't sure he should have agreed.

Biting back my victory growl, I grinned, fighting the sudden urge to rip my shirt off and spin it above my head in celebration. "How about Friday and Saturday?" I pressed.

He laughed incredulously. "How do you know you'll want to see me both nights? Maybe the date will be boring and then you'd regret asking me out again."

I stepped closer to him and his cocky smile fell from his face.

"It won't be boring, I can tell," I replied honestly. For some reason, I knew he wouldn't bore me. It wasn't just the way he looked, it was him.

"Alright, I'll agree to both nights, but I'd like to impose a get-out clause. If Friday sucks then either one of us can cancel Saturday, deal?" he suggested, stepping back slightly because I was encroaching on his personal space.

It had taken longer than I'd hoped, but I'd finally got him to agree to go on a date with me. "Deal. So, can I get your number?" I pulled my cell phone from my pocket and passed it to him.

He punched in his number before holding it back to me.

"I'll see you Friday then." He bit his lip as he opened the front door, waiting for me to leave.

I gulped, needing to push my luck a little further. "Before I go, I wondered if you'd be interested in making a little bet with me." I raised a challenging eyebrow.

He rolled his eyes, laughing. "I'm not betting on how the date is going to end if that's what this is going to be about."

"No, actually, I was going to bet you twenty bucks that I could kiss you without using my lips."

His nose crinkled up as he frowned. "That's impossible. You can't kiss someone without using your lips," he countered. I waited, letting him think about it while silently praying he hadn't seen this trick before.

"Alright, yeah, I'll take that bet," he suddenly agreed, smiling confidently.

As I took another step towards him, he instantly stepped back and bumped into the wall behind him. I smiled at his deer-trapped-in-theheadlights look. The vulnerability of him and his cute little bewildered expression made my lungs constrict. Unable to keep the smile off my face, I bent my head slowly towards his. His breathing sped, but his eyes never left mine. As my lips touched his, I tried not to moan at the soft feel of them. My whole body was itching to grab hold of him, kiss the life out of him and hear him moan my name. In that moment, I knew I shouldn't have kissed him, because now I didn't want to leave.

I forced myself to pull back after a couple of seconds. "I lost," I whispered to his obviously shocked face.

He burst out laughing. "Damn it, how did I fall for that?"

"Because deep down you wanted to kiss me too."

A wicked grin crossed his face. "If I'd wanted to kiss you I would have done this..."

His hand fisted the front of my shirt as he pulled me closer to him, going up onto tiptoes at the same time. His lips crushed against mine. I grunted, shocked by his boldness. When he didn't pull back I moaned in the back of my throat and wrapped my arms around him, crushing his body against mine. His arms slipped around my neck as I pressed him against the wall. I couldn't seem to get close enough.

I wanted desperately to deepen the kiss, but I didn't want to take it too far and have him nervous on Friday, thinking I wanted sex. When the kiss broke, I pressed my forehead to his. I couldn't help but smile when he took a couple of seconds to open his eyes. A smile twitched at the corners of his mouth, almost as if he was replaying the kiss in his mind, savouring it.

"I'd better go," I whispered, rubbing my nose against his lightly making his arms tighten around my neck slightly before he let go and stepped back smiling sheepishly.

"Okay, see you Friday." He smiled, biting his lip. I turned for the door but then stopped when I remembered I hadn't paid up for the bet.

Fishing my wallet from my pocket, I dug out a twenty and held it out to him.

He burst out laughing. "Again you manage to make me feel like a hooker. Great job."

I laughed too. If he was selling those damn kisses I'd have myself bankrupt by now - I was fast becoming addicted to them, yet I'd only had two.

"A bet's a bet." I shrugged, holding it out to him again.

He took it from my hand and stepped closer to me, wrapping his arm around me and pushing it into my back pocket, patting my ass gently after. "You keep it. That one was on the house, a free sample," he teased, as he put his hand on my chest and pushed gently, guiding me out of the door.

"The trouble with free samples is that they always leave you wanting more."

"You should go before you ruin everything. You sound like you're fast-turning this conversation into something crude and suggestive. I can still change my mind about Friday, you know." He coughed dramatically. "Wow, it sounds like I'm getting sick... maybe I won't be able to make it after all." He coughed again looking at me warningly.

I held my hands up innocently. "I'm going. Go take some cough syrup and don't you dare cancel on me, muffin."

He giggled as he closed the door in my face, leaving me standing there like a moron. I laughed and turned for the stairs, unable to restrain my huge grin. I jumped the last four steps like a little kid. As I stepped out of the building, I pulled out my cell phone and opened up my messages, deciding to send him one.

'Let me know if you don't get rid of that cough before Friday. I have a doctor's outfit I could bring around;J'

My phone beeped with his reply just as I slid into the driver's seat.

'My cough seemed to clear up as soon as I shut the door. Maybe I'm allergic to the slutty lines? :T'

I laughed and shook my head, hitting reply immediately. Friday seemed like a long way away now; I was highly excited about it.

'I'll find a cure don't worry, muffin. I'll sext you tomorrow: J'
