Ch- 21 To The Zoo
Jungkook's pov
In the morning Taehyung called me to say that Seojoon had let them down again and wouldn't be picking up Han at all for the rest of the weekend.
Apparently, Taehyung had already put in a call to Jimin who had offered to have Han for the night at their place, so at least we would still be able to go out tonight. For the day time though, we were going to the park for a picnic with Han.
I headed over to his place just after ten. As soon as he opened the door I could see how upset he was. He was trying not to show me, but his whole posture was different. He was the picture of disappointment, and I could hear the reason why. Han was crying his heart out in the other room.
I groaned and cupped his cheek. It just wasn't fair for someone as special as him to be disappointed over and over, and it wasn't fair for a great kid like Han to have his dad flake out on him all the time.
"You alright?" I asked, already knowing the answer was no.
He put on a fake smile and nodded. "Sure. Come on in." He waved me into his apartment and closed the door behind me, his voice was sad, but he was trying to hide it. I hated that he felt he needed to put on an act for me.
"He sounds upset," I muttered, stating the obvious.
Taehyung's jaw clenched; I could see the anger in his eyes, but it was overtaken by the sadness that was there. He looked like he wasn't sure if he wanted to burst into tears, or hunt Seojoon down and cut his balls off.
"He'll be fine in a little while. He's just disappointed. He was really looking forward to going to the zoo." He shrugged, dropping his gaze to the floor.
Closing my hand over his, I pulled him into the lounge. Han was lying on the sofa hugging his Woody doll, his face buried into a pillow as his body hitched with sobs. I frowned; it actually hurt to see him so upset. I'd not seen him cry, he was always such a happy kid and the sight made me really angry; he really didn't deserve to be let down.
"Hey, Kid. Want to go play some ball at the park? Maybe we could take some bread and feed the ducks too?" I suggested weakly.
He sniffed, lifting his face away from the cushion. His eyes were red from all the crying, his forehead and cheeks were blotchy. "I don't want to," he croaked, shaking his head.
Taehyung sighed and pulled me away before I could answer and try to convince him or bribe him with the biggest ice cream I could find in the café down the road. He led me into the kitchen and wrapped his arms around my waist, pressing his face into my chest.
"I'm so sorry that I have to cancel our plans again. I understand if you're angry at me. We haven't been together that long and already I'm flaking out of plans that we've made, you have a right to be annoyed."
I smiled, not really understanding how this man's brain worked. None of this was his fault. I brushed his bangs from his face and tucked them behind his ear, smiling at how they just fell straight back out again because they weren't quite long enough to stay there.
"Why would I be angry at you, that's just silly," I whispered, kissing him softly.
He kissed me back and then pulled away, shaking his head a little. "Kook, I don't understand what you're doing with me. You know this is going to happen again and again. I'm probably always going to have to cancel plans at the last minute. Han's always going to be my first priority. You should find someone who can make you his first priority, and who won't cancel all the time." His chin trembled as he spoke.
I smiled reassuringly. "Stripes, just stop that thought right now. I want to be with you, and I understand that you have a son. I went into this relationship with my eyes open. I know there will always be times when things need to change because of Han. It's fine," I promised, kissing his forehead lightly.
He sighed and shook his head at me. "You really are too-" but I cut him off so he couldn't finish the sentence.
"Sweet, I know," I interjected, rolling my eyes.
He smiled and closed his eyes, pressing against me tightly. "Exactly," he whispered, pressing his face into the side of my neck, making my skin break out in goosebumps.
Then I had a great idea. The kid wanted to go to the zoo, so why didn't we just take him there instead? Sure, it would probably piss off Seojoon, me stepping in and doing something with his son that he wanted to do with him, but he was the one who let the kid down which, from what I understood, he did a lot. We had the whole day free, so instead of going to the park, we could go to the zoo.
"Why don't we just go to the zoo instead?" I suggested, shrugging easily.
Taehyung pulled his face out of the crook of my neck and frowned. "No, we can't. I..." he trailed off, looking really uncomfortable.
I looked at him, waiting for him to carry on and explain why we couldn't just take him instead. "What? It doesn't make a difference to me what we do."
He shook his head again, stepping away from me, avoiding my eyes. "We'll just go to the park like we said. He'll be fine in a few minutes once he gets on the slide." His voice sounded gruff and had an edge all of a sudden.
I gripped his elbow and pulled gently, guiding him to turn back to face me. Slipping one finger under his chin, I tilted his head so he had to look at me. "What is this really about?" I asked softly.
"It's really expensive and I-I can't," he muttered. "We'll just go to the park," he whispered.
Wait, he's worried about money? That's what this is about? I knew he didn't have loads of money; he was a single parent for goodness' sake. "Stripes, let's just go to the zoo. He wants to go there," I suggested, rolling my eyes at how silly this all was.
"Jungkook, I can't! I just don't... it's not possible." He scowled down at the floor, obviously annoyed about the fact that he couldn't afford to take his child out for the day.
I sighed and stepped back, letting him go as I turned towards the kitchen doorway. "Han, get your shoes on, Kid, your momma and I are taking you to the zoo!" I called.
Taehyung grabbed my arm, clearly horrified. "No! You can't just say things like that. It's different for you, I'm sure you have spare cash floating around all over the place, but I don't! You can't just make promises to him like that, it's not fair!" he snapped, shaking his head, his jaw tight and angry.
Han was whooping excitedly in the lounge. I heard him run into his bedroom and the door crash against the wall where he threw it open in a bid to get his shoes quicker. I rolled my eyes and enveloped Taehyung in my arms, pulling him flush against me.
"Tae, I'm taking my boyfriend and his son to the zoo. You don't need to pay for anything. Stop stressing about everything. Today's going to be fun," I stated, kissing the tip of his nose.
Understanding crossed his face as he realised what I meant, but then he shook his head adamantly. "Kook, seriously, these places cost a fortune. I'm not letting you pay. No way," he refused, pushing me off him, but at the same time looking at me like I was the sweetest guy in the world. I smiled. I loved it when he looked at me like that.
"Oh, just hush, you're giving me a headache," I lied, waving my hand dismissively as I turned my head to the doorway again. "How you getting on with those shoes, Kid? The penguins are waiting for you!"
Taehyung groaned and buried his face into my chest. "Jungkook, I just don't understand you at all! What are you getting out of this?" he asked, his voice muffled against my T-shirt. He pulled back, his eyes filled with tears.
"I don't deserve you, I really don't," he whispered.
I wanted to explain that what I got out of it was to see him and his son happy, but I didn't have the words without making myself sound like a sappy romantic, so I didn't say anything. The soft and tender way he was looking at me made my heart ache. Rowon was right, the way to a mother's heart was absolutely through his kids.
I pressed my lips to his, kissing him softly. He kissed me back just as tenderly, his hands gripping my T-shirt tightly. I broke the kiss and pressed my forehead to his, just looking into his eyes, wondering what it was that I had in my life before I met this guy. How had I ever thought myself happy and content with what I had? I obviously hadn't realised what I was missing out on until I met him.
"You gonna make us that picnic?" I asked, sliding my hands up his back, pulling him closer to me.
He sighed, his breath blowing across my lips, making me shiver with desire. "I'll pay you back, I promise."
"You can pay me back in kind. I take kisses, cuddles and, my personal favourite, sexual favours."
He rolled his eyes and grinned at me, pressing his lips to mine again but pulling away quickly as Han came hurtling into the kitchen, swinging his shoes around his head like a lasso. I grinned and grabbed Han, sitting him on the counter, taking his shoes out of his hands, and putting them on for him. I couldn't stop the grin that was stretched across my face, just because of how happy Han looked. The redness to his eyes and the tracks of his tears were still there, but they were overpowered by the big toothy grin he was sporting.

"My legs are hay-king!" Han whined.
"Your legs are aching? Well maybe we should go back then, huh?" Taehyung teased, ruffling his hair playfully.
Han gasped and shook his head. "I want to see the rhinos but they're so far aways! My legs are shorter than yours so I'm walking further than yous two!" he moaned, pouting at us both. We'd been here for hours now, walking a long way between animals, the kid was doing really well for a four-year-old.
I smiled and held out my hands to him. "Here, I'll carry you to the rhinos, how about that?" I offered.
He whooped and raised his arms at me in acceptance, a smug grin on his face because he didn't have to walk. I laughed and turned him around, then hooked my hands under his armpits and hoisted him onto my shoulders. It felt weird, especially when he put his arms around my forehead and rested his chin on the top of my head, but it was a nice weird.
"So, where are these rhinos then? You see them from up there, Kid?" I joked, before turning to look at Taehyung. But he'd stopped walking, and was just looking at me with a bewildered expression on his face. "You okay?" I asked, a little worried as to why he was looking at me like I'd grown another head.
He shook his head slightly as if to clear, and then walked to my side. "Yeah, yeah, I'm good. Rhinos are this way according to the sign."
I nodded, and we started walking in the direction he pointed. I couldn't help but smile when I felt his hand touch the small of my back before pushing down into the back pocket of my jeans, squeezing my ass lightly.
"Tae, that's a little presumptuous," I joked, trying to sound stern.
"What's a sumpt... sumptsons...what did you say again?" Han asked, his hand moving down slightly, half covering my eyes.
"Kid, I can't see where I'm going, we're gonna walk into a tree or something," I stated, shaking my head, trying to move his hands from my eyes.
He laughed too. "I'll be the leader and tells you where to go," he suggested, obviously happy about this little plan. His hand clamped over my eyes better, thankfully he only had little hands so I could still see, mostly.
"Okay, but if I get hurt then your momma has to play doctors and nurses with us later," I suggested, grinning wickedly.
Taehyung giggled. "I might have been planning on playing that anyway, if you keep playing your cards right," he stated.
Oh hell yeah, I love the sound of that!
"I'm playing my cards right, trust me," I answered, grinning in his direction.
"What cards?" Han asked, making both me and Taehyung burst out laughing.
A little while later and we had finally managed to find the rhinos. I'd walked into a tree, a fence, and almost walked into the side of the monkey cage, all because of Han's 'leadership'. The kid was freaking hilarious, and he was laughing so hard when he told me to walk into the glass of one enclosure that he almost fell off my shoulders.
By the time I lifted him off my shoulders so he could look at the rhinos, Taehyung was just looking at me again with the same look that he'd been shooting me all day. I was either getting something very wrong and upsetting him, or I was getting something very right and he was finding it hard to deal with. I hoped it was the latter one, I really did.
He flicked his eyes to Han who was busy shouting, "Here little rhino, rhino, rhino. Come see your friend Han!" at the top of his lungs, then Taehyung stepped closer to me, pressing against me. His eyes bore into mine, his mouth twitching with a smile as one of his hands gripped my T-shirt, I could feel his breath blowing across my chin and lips and it was making my mouth water.
"Jeon Jungkook, you are so in for a good night tonight," he purred, his voice so sexy that my dick was immediately waking up and taking notice.
In for a good night? I swallowed my lust before I spoke, "Oh yeah? Are we really gonna play doctors and nurses?"
"I thought maybe we could play cops and robbers," he replied, his eyes not leaving mine.
I couldn't help the little moan that escaped my lips at those words.
"Will there be punishments involved?" I whispered, watching his eyes dance with excitement.
He nodded. "If you deem that necessary. Maybe there'll be rewards for good behaviour." He smirked at me before turning back to Han, leaving me standing there looking like I'd smuggled my gun into the zoo with me, down the front of my jeans. Damn tease! "Han, don't put your fingers on the fence. See that one there? That's got electricity running through it, you don't want a shock do you?" he asked, crouching down behind him and wrapping his arm around him, pointing out the electric wire that was just inside the perimeter.
"Yeah, it'll make your hair stand up, Kid," I joked, moving to stand behind Taehyung as other people came along behind us to look too. He turned his head and laughed, obviously realising his face was level with my crotch. I smirked at him. "While you're down there..." I trailed off, raising one eyebrow suggestively.
He shook his head, chuckling as he stood up. "Later." Was the only thing he said, and I felt like my world stopped spinning for a second. Was that a promise or another tease? I could only hope I guess, but I was already another step closer to falling in love with him.
After another hour of looking around the zoo and eating ice-cream, we headed to the gift shop. I gave Han some money and watched as his eyes lit up, taking in everything in the store, searching for something to waste his money on. Taehyung smiled at me and sighed, stepping closer to me as he wrapped his arm around my waist tightly, pressing himself to me.
"Thank you so much for today. I never get to do things like this with him. I've loved every single second of being here with the two of you," he said, his eyes locked on mine.
I brushed his hair off his face, letting my fingers linger on his face for a second as I did it. I hated the fact that he obviously struggled for money and that Seojoon didn't really help him that much. He obviously worked hard to just get by; things like coming to the zoo were a luxury that he probably didn't indulge in very often.
"I had a great day too," I admitted, bending my head closer to his, but I didn't kiss him, I didn't want to push my luck too far in front of Han.
After all, he still thought we were just friends. I'd had an awesome day with the pair of them, I didn't want it to end on a sour note by him being upset about his mom's new boyfriend.
Tae either didn't think about Han, or he just decided it was time for him to know, because he pressed his lips to mine, kissing me passionately as his arm tightened on my waist, clamping himself to me.
My whole body was rejoicing. I cupped his face in my hands as I kissed his back with as much passion as he was kissing me with. When he pulled away, I couldn't stop the moronic grin that stretched across my face because this was another huge step forward that he'd taken, showing his son that we were more than just friends. I loved that.
"Eww! Did you just kiss my momma?"
Ah, fuck.
My lungs constricted with panic as I looked down, seeing Han standing there with a slightly confused, but thoroughly disgusted expression on his face as his eyes flicked between the two of us. I had no clue what to say. My mouth was dry and my heart was beating ten to the dozen.
Taehyung stepped away from me and took a deep breath. I had the strong urge to pull him back to me and use him as some kind of human shield so I couldn't see his son's reaction to me. I was used to being in rough situations, but the way the kid was looking at me was scaring the life out of me. I had no idea how he felt about it. It was staggering how unprepared for this I was.
I winced and looked at Taehyung. He looked so incredibly calm and collected as he squatted down to Han's level and smiled reassuringly at him. Something squeezed my hand, and I looked down at it, seeing that Taehyung was holding my hand firmly in his, our fingers interlaced. He was either using me for support, or he sensed my meltdown and was trying to reassure me. I wasn't sure which it was, probably a little of both.
"Yeah, we were kissing. Jungkook and I, well, we're like boyfriends," he explained softly.
He frowned. "Like you and Daddy?"
Taehyung stiffened and he shook his head. "No, Baby. Daddy and I are just friends."
Han nodded, looking a little thoughtful, and we both just watched him, waiting for his reaction.
Oh God, please don't hate me and make Tae break it off with me!
After probably the longest minute of my life, he looked at me and scrunched up his face. "You gots cooties now, Uncle!" he stated sadly.
Taehyung burst out laughing and I just stared at Han in shock as he held out a stuffed penguin toy to me. "Do I have enough monies for this?" he asked, giving me the puppy dog face.
I didn't bother looking at the price as I nodded, knowing I would pay whatever it cost. "Yeah, Kid, you have enough money for that." My voice was slightly husky and thick, probably with the shock of him just accepting me that quickly.
Taehyung beamed and stood back up, squeezing my hand again. "On the way home we'll get you some medicine to take care of those cooties, Kookoo, don't worry," he teased.
I grinned and looped my arms around his waist, pulling him to my side so he couldn't get away. "Seeing as I'm already infected, maybe I should get some more cooties before I get the cure," I joked, looking down at his lips again.
He smiled and went up on tiptoes and pressed his lips to mine. I laughed against his lips as Han spoke. "Kissing is gross!"
I pulled away from Taehyung, picking Han up, slinging him over my shoulder in a fireman's lift. "Yeah, you don't want to kisses, Kid, it gets you in all kinds of trouble. You'd best stay away from it for a little while," I teased, grabbing Taehyung's hand and pulling him to the counter to pay.
I sat Han down on the counter while the lady rang his penguin through the register. He squealed and picked up a candy necklace out of the pot next to him, looking at it with wide eyes. I smiled and nodded to the lady.
"Can we get two of those necklaces, too?" I asked politely. Taehyung looked at me curiously, obviously wondering why I'd bought two. I took one from the pot and stretched it out, pulling it down over his head while he laughed. "Can't have you feeling left out because I bought your son jewellery and not you, can I?"
He slipped his hand into my back pocket. "Maybe it's a little soon for you to be buying me jewellery."
I shook my head and bent and kissed the side of his neck, stopping to bite one of the candy loops off the string. "I didn't really buy it for you, I bought it for me." I grinned, showing him the candy on my tongue.
