Icy fingers gripped my arm in the darkness...
Wandering through the graveyard it felt like something was watching me...
A shrill cry echoed in the darkness looming around me...
The gravestones stood silently, row upon row of soldiers long forgotten...
The world has changed. Not just for the best, but for the worst as well...
Families destroyed, hearts broken, blood shed...
As for me, the memories of my past are no longer there, my future yet to be told...
Why can't I remember?
"Tamriel," a familiar voice called "Is everything alright?"
Turning around she saw a man she grew up with. "Yes, I'm alright Boromir." she said softly. The cold crisp air bit at her skin violently adding the fear of the dead that lay quietly around her buried.
"You're not," he said, tugging on her bringing her inside "It's early yet you're still awake.. Did you sleep?" he asked, concerned as he placed a small blanket around her shoulders. He sat her down near a small fire sitting beside her.
"I had that dream again..." She admitted. "I couldn't fall back asleep after." She looked him in the eyes softly
"Again?" He started. "That's the fourth time this month..." Boromir rubbed his goatee trying to think of something to tell her that may bring her peace. "I'm at a loss for words..."
A shrill cry of pure horror echoed in the distance. Yet, it didn't just happen once, but many times like an alarm or distress call. The light of torches and candles began to pop up around the kingdom of Gondor in the early morning. As everyone was just about into the streets the cries stopped.
Silence fell as Boromir and Tamriel had gotten to the point of Gondor where you could see out to Mordor and all that lay in-between it. His brother and father walked quickly over.
"What in the name of Gondor was that God awful noise?" His father yelled.
"We're just as confused as you..." Boromir said to him.
"Sounded like a Nazgûl..."
"Faramir don't be ridiculous, they wouldn't dare come near here."
"Lord Denethor it's possible they sent out a spy." Tamriel spoke calmly. The brothers nodded together in quiet unison agreement.
"Wretched girl..." Grumbling, Denethor turned walking off mumbling under his breath. "always an answer for everything..."
Tamriel looked back out unfazed by him. "Sorry you have to deal with his ill manners towards you and Faramir..." Boromir spoke slowly, sadly as he looked over their glum faces.
Ebonhelm will fall because of you... A fool... A traitor.. An eerie voice spoke in Tamriel's ear, though only she heard it as clear as day. Becoming frightened of what she just heard, she felt pain in her chest, in her arms, and in her mind. Gripping her head as everything spun around her the twins held her up making sure she wouldn't fall.
"Lord Boromir! You're needed in Osgiliath." a guard said
"I must go, I'll join you later..' and with that he walked off leaving Faramir and Tamriel alone.
"What did you see this time?" Faramir asked as he held her close in his arms with a hand on her head keeping her close.
She looked at him a little, "It was him... He spoke to me again...." She shook as she spoke, holding on tighter to his cape.
"mae'n iawn fy annwyl... arhosaf gyda chi." Faramir said softly to her as the others sped off. (It's alright my dear ; I'll stay with you)
She nodded and looked at him a bit then away at Mordor. "Mae'r tywyllwch yn tyfu faramir o ddydd i ddydd ..." She shook, staring at the gloom that hovered in the sky above Mordor. (The darkness grows day by day Faramir.)
He looked over once she spoke, trying to see for himself. "Mae'n... Gobeithio nad yw'n ddim byd difrifol..." (It is ; I hope it's nothing serious)
~
She nodded softly as she laid her head on his chest once more.
"gadewch i ni fynd y tu mewn..." He said turning with her slowly as they started to head inside the castle. She looked over her shoulder once more before they were inside. "peidiwch â..." he whispered to her as she averted her gaze to the floor. (Let's go inside; don't)
The tall, heavy, spruce doors shut behind them as the guards took their posts again. It was a little cooler inside, though there was a fire in the nearby fireplace. The inside was all white marble and grey stone. The whole structure of Gondor was in fact all the same, just marble and stone. Every inch was hand carved and crafted, fit for royalty. It was spacious inside, only a long dining table at the west, fireplace in the east, and north was the king's throne. But for now was only taken by a steward, a mere placeholder till the king can one day return.
"Faramir, I'm fine..." She insisted pushing away from him a bit
"Tamriel you're not... It's obvious-"
"That something is on my mind? Yes... Can I bring myself to talk about it, no..." She cut in finishing his sentence. It's like she was almost worried about something, which in return made Faramir worry more.
"You hide everything, bottle it up and keep shoving it down.." He spoke hastily, not even thinking of how to say it.
"It's not that simple!" She quickly turned to face him. "I know you worry even when you say you're not. I see it all Faramir..." She said sadly looking in his eyes as she stepped closer to him. "I received a letter.. About a month ago from Imladris..."
"Rivendell? Why would they send a letter all the way here to Gondor?" He questioned
"I have to go to a meeting with the elven council... It said that it's to decide what to become of Middle Earth. And many kingdoms were invited." She said looking down. "Me and Boromir both got one.." she pulled into herself like a snail into its shell.
"You're leaving? When?" he sputtered, grabbing her arms "Is this the end of us?" Faramir's voice filled with fear as tears rose to his eyes.
"I- I don't know..." Tears rolled down her cheeks "We leave at the end of the week..." Tamriel looked at him "Nid wyf am i'n cariad ddod i ben er y gallai fod gan y Valar gynlluniau eraill..." her voice broke as he froze. (I do not want our love to end though the valar may have other plans)
His lip quivered, tears finally falling as they flooded his eyes. He laid a hand on her cheek and kissed her on the lips gently. Pulling away he looked in her eyes, his filled with melancholy. It wasn't Faramir.. It was woe and pain taking him. He whispered "byddwch gryf fy annwyl..." Kissing her forehead once again for a moment before walking off at a slow pace.
Tamriel was stuck in her spot, words caught in her throat. 'F... Fa..." Stammering she reached out to try and grab him though only fell to her knees in doing so. "ble wyt ti'n mynd? peidiwch â gadael fi!" she yelled though it had no effect on him (Where are you going ; please don't leave me)
Faramir walked out of view of Tamriel. It looked as if there was a dark cloud surrounding him, like he wasn't himself. Lost in his own thoughts he went to the nearest city, Osgiliath...
Hopefully just to clear his head...
~Three days later~
There had been no sign of faramir what-so-ever. Causing only Boromir and Tamriel to worry about trying to keep it from their people. Denethor knew though he didn't think much of it, he never favored him.
Tamriel was running down the hall in search of Boromir. Down almost every hall yelling his name she finally got outside. He stood there leaning on the wall looking out over the land. His focus was also on finding his missing brother since no one heard or seen him in days.
"Boromir!"
He turned around "Tamriel?"
"I know where Faramir may be..." She said standing in front of him. "He always took me to Osgiliath, he may be there..."
"Get your horse, I'll ride out with you." he said and soon enough they were leaving Gondor on their horses.
"rhedeg yn gyflym!" She yelled as her horse sped up just a bit. Her heart pounded in her chest with each inch they got closer.
The air was tense, eerie, grim. At the pace they rode at they'd be at Osgiliath any moment now. Tamriel called her horse to a stop and dismounted her horse quickly yet swiftly. Boromir did the same immediately calling out his brothers name.
"Faramir!?"
"Faramir!"
They called out multiple times as Tamriel caught something out of the corner of her eye. Turning she saw a man, Faramir...
"Faramir!" She screamed and ran to him dropping to her knees as Boromir's footsteps quickly followed hers as he saw his brother just laying there. Tears flooded her eyes as they soon rolled down her gentle face. A shrill cry came from Tamriel as his body didn't move an inch, not even breathing.
There was a sword impaling his torso
Faramir was dead...
Boromir, yet heartbroken his younger brother was now dead, felt worse for Tamriel. Just hearing her cry like this broke him more. He knew that Faramir and Tamriel loved each other deeply, enough for Faramir to ask her to marry him. But, he died before he could even ask her. Only Boromir had known that Faramir wanted to marry her. Their father didn't pay too much attention to them, just Boromir.
Tamriel had just laid her head on Faramir's chest sobbing. She stayed there at his side, holding him close not wanting to say goodbye.
~
Though the days were long and filled with woe, Tamriel and Boromir had to leave for Rivendell. They had packed and set off on their horses as soon as possible.
"We'll be there by sundown if we ride fast and go Northwest in a straight path." Boromir said softly to her as they rode side by side.
All Tamriel could muster was a whisper. "Alright, then let's get there quickly..."
Speeding up the two set off to the mountain range that Rivendell lay inside of.
