i brought his hat with me to the dorm

i don't know why

i suppose i wanted it to feel

a bit more like home

i didn't bring it to the last one

for some reason it felt

like it wasn't where it was supposed to be

but this place

this one here

feels more welcoming

more loving

more home

and if that means that

the hat sits on the corner of my bed frame

then so be it

it'll watch me sleep

watch me cry

watch me study

watch me take on the world

and know that it's not

where my feet are planted

but how i make them run
